CAIRO, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) — At least seven people were killed and 44 injured on Friday when a bus and two trucks collided on a desert highway in Egypt's Giza governorate, Al-Masry Al-Youm website reported.

The preliminary investigation results showed that the bus collided with two trucks that had stopped on the side of the road due to a sudden breakdown.

The front of the bus was reportedly completely destroyed, causing numerous casualties. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.

The Egyptian prosecutor's office ordered an immediate investigation into the incident.

BEIJING, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) — China expresses serious concern over Israel's decision on Gaza and calls on it to immediately stop this dangerous move, Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on Friday.

Guo Jiakun made the remarks when asked to comment on Israel's security cabinet's approval of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's plan to establish military control over Gaza City.

“Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people and is an integral part of the Palestinian territory,” the official representative stressed, noting that an immediate ceasefire is the right way to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the release of detainees, as well as the key to a final settlement of the conflict in Gaza.

“This is the only way to end the conflict and ensure security in the region,” he said.

Details of the report were shared by Qiao Hong, President of the World Robotics Cooperation Organization (WRCO) and an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

BEIJING, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) — The final competition of the China-Kazakhstan Belt and Road and Nur Zholy Railway Border Crossing Skills Competition was held in Horgos, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on Thursday, the Gongren Ribao (Workers' Daily) reported.

During the competition, a competition was organized in two disciplines – the formation of freight trains for international railway freight transportation China-Europe and the inspection of trains, in which a total of 360 employees from the Chinese stations of Khorgos and Alashankou, as well as from the Kazakh stations of Altynkol and Dostyk took part.

BEIJING, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) — A total of 105,000 tonnes of fruits and vegetables were exported to Mongolia through Ereenhot Port in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the first seven months of 2025, up 17.9 percent year on year. ALMATY, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) — Construction work on Kazakhstan's first nuclear power plant has officially started near the village of Ulken in the Almaty region of southern Kazakhstan, Kazinform news agency reported on Friday.

According to the head of the Kazakh Atomic Energy Agency, Almasadam Satkaliyev, the NPP construction project is being implemented with broad public support.

"The total investment in the project will be around 14-15 billion dollars. An additional 1 billion dollars will be allocated for the construction of social facilities and modern infrastructure," A. Satkaliev said.
