BEIJING, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — A total of 126 Russian tourists passed customs inspection at Wuhan Tianhe Airport on Monday morning, becoming the first group of Russian tourists to arrive in Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province, since China introduced a 30-day visa-free entry regime for Russian citizens with regular passports on Sept. 15.

The Russian passengers arrived from Moscow on China Southern Airlines flight CZ8004, the Hubei Daily news portal reported. “We are very happy that China welcomes us so warmly,” said Russian citizen Sergei Ivanov, who took advantage of the new visa-free policy with his family.

Among those who were among the first to take advantage of the new visa-free policy is Gleb Golev. The young man flew to China for a business trip and plans to visit companies in the cities of Wuhan and Qingdao. The visa-free regime has saved him time and money, and business exchanges will become more convenient in the future.

Let us recall that China is introducing a trial visa-free regime for Russian citizens holding regular foreign passports from September 15, 2025 to September 14, 2026.

Russian citizens holding valid regular foreign passports can visit China under a visa-free regime for the purposes of doing business, making tourist trips, visiting relatives and friends, exchanging visits, and for transit; their stay in China should not exceed 30 days, according to a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Since the beginning of this year, the total passenger volume at Wuhan Tianhe International Airport has continued to increase. As of August 26, the total number of passengers entering and leaving China through Tianhe Airport has exceeded 1 million person-times, reaching this mark 49 days earlier than the 2024 target.

On September 9, flights were officially resumed on the direct Wuhan-Moscow flight. According to China Southern Airlines, flights between Wuhan and the Russian capital are operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft on Tuesdays and Sundays. According to the schedule, the airliner departs from Wuhan at 15:10 Beijing time and arrives at Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport at 19:15 local time. The return flight departs from Moscow at 21:15 local time and arrives in Wuhan at 10:30 the next day Beijing time.

Let us recall that this air route was launched on July 30, 2014, becoming the first direct flight in history connecting central China with Russia.

Wang Gang, general manager of China Southern Airlines Hubei branch, told the media that the market response to the Wuhan-Moscow route has been quite positive, with the occupancy rate of the first flight after the resumption of flights reaching 87 percent. “We believe that the resumption of flights on the Wuhan-Moscow air route will further help free up demand for tourism between China and Russia and open up new opportunities for the development of trade and cultural tourism between the two countries,” he said. -0-

URUMQI, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — China Southern Airlines flight CZ6002 from Moscow to Urumqi, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, landed safely at Tianshan International Airport on Monday. Russian passengers on board the plane became the first group of people to arrive from Russia to China under the new visa-free policy.

"I always wanted to visit China. Thanks to the visa-free regime, traveling to this country has become much easier, and passing through passport and customs control is faster," said Marina, a tourist from Russia.

Let us recall that China has introduced a visa-free regime for holders of ordinary Russian passports in a test mode, which will be in effect from September 15, 2025 to September 14, 2026.

Russian citizens holding valid regular foreign passports will be able to stay in China under a visa-free regime for the purposes of doing business, making tourist trips, visiting relatives and friends, exchanging visits, and for transit, for a period of no more than 30 days, according to a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

As the visa-free policy is implemented, Xinjiang checkpoints will accept more and more Russian tourists, the Tianshan Airport customs service reported.

Currently, Tianshan Airport operates 32 international passenger routes connecting Urumqi with countries in Central, Western and Southeast Asia, as well as Europe. The airport's global route network continues to expand. -0-

BEIJING, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — China's normal trade, economic and energy cooperation with all countries in the world, including Russia, is justified, legal and does not deserve criticism, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a regular press conference on Monday.

The Chinese diplomat made this statement in connection with the US demanding that the G7 and NATO countries introduce additional duties against China under the pretext of purchasing Russian oil.

"Such a move is a typical act of unilateral bullying and economic coercion, which seriously undermines international trade and economic rules and threatens the security and sustainability of the global supply chain. Facts prove that coercion does not resonate with people and cannot solve problems," he said.

According to Lin Jian, China's position on the Ukrainian crisis is consistent and clear. Dialogue and negotiations are the only possible way out. Since the first day of the crisis, China has consistently maintained an objective and impartial position, remaining committed to advancing peace talks.

China firmly opposes illegal unilateral sanctions and the use of “long-arm jurisdiction” against the country, the Chinese diplomat stressed.

"If China's legitimate interests are violated, the country will take resolute countermeasures and firmly safeguard its sovereignty, security and development interests," Lin Jian concluded. -0-

CHANGCHUN, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — Crowds of tourists stroll through the Bohai Guzhen scenic area in Hunchun City, northeast China's Jilin Province, as the street lights come on.

Dressed in luxurious traditional Chinese clothing known as “hanfu,” with flower pins in her hair, Maria Zaitseva from Russia’s Siberian Federal District holds a Chinese round fan and gracefully poses for the photographer’s commands. As soon as the flash went off, her smile was frozen in the picture.

“It was as if I was transported back to the times of imperial China and became a Chinese princess for one day. It was incredibly interesting,” said M. Zaitseva.

This is not her first trip to China, but she says this time, on the recommendation of a friend, she tried tourist photography for the first time. “Next time I want to take a photo in a different traditional Chinese costume,” the Russian added.

The city of Hunchun, located at the junction of the state borders of China, Russia and the DPRK, is the only city in Jilin Province that has a checkpoint on the border with Russia.

On May 1st this year, the Bohai Guzhen Scenic Area, a replica of the Tang Dynasty architectural complex and ancient shopping mall, was officially opened in Hunchun. A new business format, tourism photography, has blossomed in this cultural and tourism complex that combines cultural experience, tourism and leisure, and commercial consumption.

"We can receive more than a dozen Russian tourists a day, which is almost a third of our total daily customers. They really like traditional Chinese costumes and makeup," said a manager surnamed Chen, who is in charge of the Huaguan Lifu photo studio.

In order to provide high-quality services to Russian tourists, the store has specially hired Russian-speaking staff. “The cost of an on-site photo shoot ranges from 400 to 1,000 yuan. The shoot takes three to four hours, which is equivalent to an in-depth acquaintance with Chinese culture for Russian tourists,” she added.

Several newly opened photo studios offer tourists a variety of costume styles, from exquisite embroidered Hanfu and Tangfu (Tang Dynasty costumes) to charming Korean costumes and couples' costumes. Professional makeup artists and photographers provide tourists with a one-stop service, and the shooting process is carried out according to their preferences. The shooting locations are mostly located in characteristic landmarks.

The boom in tourist photography has become not only a cultural calling card, but has also contributed to the rise in consumption. The catering and accommodation industries, as well as the cultural and creative industry around photo studios, are becoming increasingly prosperous, forming a new business chain of “photography – sightseeing – consumption”.

“Many Russian tourists buy some traditional accessories such as round fans and embroidered sachets to take home after taking photos,” said the owner of a creative goods store in Bohai Guzhen. She added that these creative goods have become their favorite souvenirs.

According to Leng Jiacai, a representative of the Bohai Guzhen project operator, “Become a Chinese Princess for a Day” is one of the highlights of the innovative development of the local tourism industry. “We hope that through innovation, tourists can deeply understand Chinese culture, and Hunchun City will become a place where they want to stay longer and return often,” he said.

Liu Li, head of the Department of Tourism Management at the Institute of International Culture and Tourism of Jilin Foreign Studies University, believes that the boom in tourism photography is not only a new attempt in the tourism industry, but also a vivid demonstration of the people-to-people exchanges between China and Russia. Through photos and videos, Russian tourists will remember the real China and the vibrant Hunchun after returning to their hometowns. -0-

BEIJING, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — The cargo volume through Ceke Port on the China-Mongolia border reached 20.019 million tons as of Sept. 8, up 18.5 percent year on year. The port reached its target of over 20 million tons 49 days earlier than last year, the Neimenggu Ribao newspaper reported, citing data from the Ceke Port Economic Development District Administration.

Ceke Port is located in Ejing Province, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, North China. It is an important transportation hub, trade center, cargo distribution center and resource channel in northwest China, connecting China with foreign countries.

Since the beginning of this year, positive dynamics of development have been maintained in coal imports via the Tseke checkpoint. The administration of this checkpoint, focusing on building an important bridgehead for expanding openness in the northern direction, has been constantly simplifying customs clearance procedures, which has laid a solid foundation for the growth of cargo transportation volumes.

At the same time, Tseke checkpoint is actively working with local customs joint control services and relevant departments of Mongolia to establish a real-time information exchange mechanism, effectively manage traffic flows through the border crossing, and combine enhanced supervision with improved services to ensure the safety and efficiency of customs clearance. -0-

CAIRO, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — Egypt on Sunday sent another humanitarian aid convoy from the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing towards the Kerem Shalom crossing for inspection by Israeli authorities before entering the Gaza Strip, Egyptian state television reported.

This is the 36th humanitarian aid convoy sent from Egypt to Gaza since July 27, organized by the Egyptian Red Crescent Society.

According to reports, the convoy carrying food (rice, pasta, flour and baby food), medicine and medical supplies left at dawn.

The previous convoy, No. 35, was sent out on Thursday and included mobile toilets for the first time to improve living conditions for displaced Palestinians whose homes were destroyed or damaged by Israeli strikes.

The aid also includes donations raised by residents of Egypt's Sinai region in support of Palestinians in Gaza, the statement said. The Egyptian Red Crescent Society is also coordinating with countries wishing to send aid to Gaza via Egypt.

Israel's military campaign in Gaza has killed 64,871 Palestinians and injured 164,610, as well as caused massive damage to infrastructure and worsened humanitarian conditions, according to updated figures released by Gaza health authorities on Sunday.

The government also said hunger and malnutrition in Gaza had killed 422 people, including 145 children, since the conflict between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, 2023.

Egypt has provided more than 70 percent of the total aid delivered to Gaza since the conflict began, with more than 550,000 tons of humanitarian aid transported in thousands of trucks, while some 5,000 trucks continue to wait /for entry permission from Israel/ on the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing, Egypt's Foreign Ministry said in August. –0–
