MADRID, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — China's determination to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests is unwavering, and the Chinese side will firmly safeguard its national interests as well as the legitimate rights and interests of overseas Chinese-funded enterprises, Vice Premier He Lifeng said in Madrid on Monday.

He made this statement during trade and economic negotiations with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and US Trade Representative Jamison Greer, which took place from September 14 to 15.

According to He Lifeng, during the talks, the two sides, guided by the important consensus reached by the two heads of state during their telephone conversation, held a frank, in-depth and constructive discussion on trade and economic issues of mutual interest. ALMATY, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Kazakhstan are launching instruments to decarbonize heat supply as part of the "Decarbonization of the Thermal Power Sector of Kazakhstan" project, the press service of the country's Energy Ministry reported on Monday.

BEIJING, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — China's State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) on Monday announced a package of measures aimed at deepening reforms in the regulation of cross-border investment, financing and foreign exchange transactions.

The measures cover areas such as foreign direct investment (FDI), cross-border enterprise financing, and foreign currency settlements and payments by overseas individuals when purchasing real estate on the Chinese mainland, the department said in a statement.

The GUVK will abolish the requirement to register basic information on preliminary expenditure related to FDI and allow reinvestment of foreign exchange earnings from FDI in mainland China.

In addition, the State Tax Service will reduce the negative list that limits the use of foreign currency income in the capital account and will allow the use of such funds for the purchase of residential real estate not intended for personal residence.

BEIJING, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — A ministerial meeting on law enforcement and security cooperation in the Lancang-Mekong River Basin was held in Beijing on Monday, with participants agreeing to strengthen cooperation.

ALMATY, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — Kazakhstan plans to put into operation the National Water Resources Information System in 2026, the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan reported on Monday.

The department reported that the system will include data on surface and underground water, hydraulic structures and other water management facilities. In the future, it is planned to use artificial intelligence and space monitoring data, which will make it possible to determine the country's water balance, the real water needs of the economy and the population, and analyze and track the use of water resources.

BEIJING, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — China firmly opposes the U.S. demand that the Group of Seven (G7) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) impose tariffs of 50 percent to 100 percent on China over its purchase of Russian oil, an official spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce said on Monday.

In response to a media question, the official representative pointed out that the Chinese side has consistently opposed trade and economic restrictions against China under the pretext of so-called Russia-related issues.
