At the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS) 2025, led by the Export Development Center under the Ministry of Economy and Trade of the Kyrgyz Republic, a delegation of enterprises from this country took part in the exhibition for the second time, the participants aim to further promote practical cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China in the field of services.

The Kyrgyz exposition included three companies covering such areas as high technology, tourism and services export. The head of the delegation, Bermet Kurmanbaeva, noted that the main focus of participation was not on selling goods, but on promoting the country's services with export potential, including tourism resources and high-tech solutions, with the hope of establishing partnerships with Chinese companies through this platform.

Last year, when Kyrgyzstan participated in CIFTIS for the first time, significant results were achieved, especially in the field of tourism cooperation and educational exchanges, where several agreements were signed. This year, although the exhibition has just begun, the delegation of Kyrgyzstan has already felt a rich atmosphere of cooperation and wide interest. They are actively introducing visitors to the country's tourism advantages and technological potential, laying the foundation for subsequent in-depth negotiations.

Kurmanbaeva emphasized that the key goal of participation is to establish long-term partnerships with Chinese enterprises in relevant areas and expand channels for exporting Kyrgyzstan's services to China. "CIFTIS provides an invaluable platform for trade and economic exchange between our countries," the head of the delegation noted. "We hope to find reliable partners here and promote the creation of strong and stable partnerships between organizations in the two countries."

Speaking about the future, she expressed great interest in further participation in CIFTIS and confirmed her intention to organize annual delegations of enterprises to deepen cooperation and development between Kyrgyzstan and China in the field of trade in services.

KINSHASA, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — Vaccination against the Ebola virus has begun in the Bulape health zone in central Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where an outbreak was declared earlier this month, the World Health Organization (WHO) said Sunday.

The current phase of vaccination targets frontline health workers and people in contact with confirmed cases, the WHO said in a statement.

An initial shipment of 400 doses of the Ervebo vaccine, which protects against the Zaire ebolavirus variants behind the current outbreak, has arrived in Bulapé, one of the epicenters of the outbreak in Kasai province. About 45,000 doses are expected to arrive in the coming days, according to the WHO.

The outbreak can be contained if measures are taken within the next two weeks, WHO programme spokesman Patrick Otim told a press briefing in Geneva on Friday. He said there were 1,500 more doses of vaccine available in the capital, Kinshasa, which would be used once the ultra-cold storage system was operational.

The country has at least 68 suspected cases, including 16 deaths, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, which gave an online briefing on Thursday. The WHO said on Friday that 25 cases had been confirmed.

The epicentre of the outbreak is located near Tshikapa, the capital of Kasai province, approximately 100-200 km from the border with Angola. The outbreak is currently confined to a remote rural area, but frequent population movements between Bulapé and Tshikapa increase the risk of wider spread.

This is the 16th Ebola outbreak recorded in the DRC since 1976. Kasai province previously reported Ebola outbreaks in 2007 and 2008, according to the WHO. –0–

NEW YORK, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva spoke out against the Donald Trump administration's imposition of 50 percent tariffs on Brazilian goods and defended the country's democratic institutions and other policies in an op-ed published in the New York Times on Saturday.

While reaffirming Brazil's openness to negotiations "on everything that can bring mutual benefit," L.I. Lula da Silva stressed that "democracy and Brazil's sovereignty cannot be the subject of negotiations."

In an article titled “Brazilian Democracy and Sovereignty Are Not Negotiable,” the president wrote that while the United States has its own legitimate goals, such as reindustrialization, the use of unilateral tariffs is “misguided” and “illogical.”

L.I. Lula da Silva noted that over the past 15 years, Washington has recorded a positive balance in trade in goods and services with Brazil in the amount of 410 billion US dollars, with almost three quarters of its exports being imported duty-free to Brazil.

He accused the US government of “using tariffs and the Magnitsky Act to ensure impunity for former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro,” who was sentenced on Thursday to more than 27 years in prison for attempting a coup, arguing that the measures have “no economic justification” and are politically motivated.

The Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act allows Washington to impose sanctions, including asset freezes, credit card cancellations and travel bans, on foreign nationals accused of human rights abuses or corruption.

Addressing accusations of digital censorship, L.I. Lula da Silva noted that in Brazil, all platforms are subject to the same laws, and that these regulations are aimed at protecting Brazilians from fraud, disinformation, and hate speech. He also defended Brazil's instant payment system PIX, which he believes promotes financial inclusion.

Rebutting U.S. accusations that Brazil is not complying with environmental laws, the president noted that over the past two years, the Brazilian government has halved the rate of deforestation in the Amazon.

“There are no ideological differences that could prevent the two governments from working together in areas where they have common goals,” L.I. Lula da Silva said, adding that Brazil and the United States “are capable of respecting each other and cooperating for the benefit of Brazilians and Americans.” –0–

HANGZHOU, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — The Panama-flagged cargo ship "Forest Glory" left Wenzhou Port in east China's Zhejiang Province for Dubai on Monday, carrying 400 Chinese-brand new energy vehicles (NEVs).

The vessel's departure marked the official launch of the new sea route from Wenzhou to the Middle East, which is also the first dedicated route opened by the Wenzhou Port Authority for the transportation of assembled vehicles on NIE by ro-ro.

The ship will stop in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, southern China, before arriving in Dubai. The journey will take about 23 days in total.

The opening of the new route will further increase the cargo turnover of Wenzhou Port, expand the network of foreign trade routes passing through it, and support the export of domestically produced automobiles to the NIE.

In the first half of 2025, China's NVEH exports soared 75.2 percent year-on-year to 1.06 million units, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

Over the past decade, Chinese automobiles on the NIE have been exported to more than 70 countries and regions around the world. -0-

BEIJING, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) — The successful election of the 8th Legislative Council of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Sunday is another important achievement in fully implementing the principle of "Macao ruled by patriots" and advancing high-quality democracy in line with local conditions, a spokesperson for the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council said Monday.

This election was the first to be held after the regional government amended the Legislative Council Election Law in 2024. The revised law improved and streamlined the selection criteria and candidate screening mechanisms, further promoting the principle of “Patriots governing Macao.” It also streamlined procedures at all stages of the election to ensure that it is conducted in a fair, impartial, open and honest manner.

The elections were marked by broad public participation, high voter enthusiasm and an unprecedentedly large number of people who took part in the voting, the agency representative noted.

The all-round qualities of the newly elected deputies have been widely recognized by the Macao public. “Each of them has their own strengths, making them a well-structured team, and their overall qualities can be said to be at the highest level in history,” he emphasized.

The office expressed its hope and confidence that the new legislature will firmly adhere to its original aspiration of loving the country and Macao, conscientiously and firmly safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, uphold the constitutional order and administrative leadership system of the Macao SAR, and fully support the Chief Executive and the SAR Government in governing the region in accordance with the law.

He called on the new legislators to diligently fulfill their duties and promote proper diversification of Macao's economy, accelerate the construction of the Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Area on Hengqin Island, maintain social harmony and stability, improve people's living standards, and promote better integration of Macao into overall national development.

He also shared his expectations that they will also make greater efforts to build a powerful country and rejuvenate the Chinese nation, contributing to ensuring the sustainable and long-term practice of the “one country, two systems” policy with Macao characteristics. -0-
