There are fewer than 100 such cases worldwide, and only a few have been recorded in Russia. The pregnant patient consulted specialists complaining of deteriorating health. Doctors thoroughly examined her and diagnosed a number of conditions, including heart rhythm disturbances and chronic heart failure. Labor began prematurely, at 35 weeks, but proceeded smoothly. Thanks to the work of a multidisciplinary team of doctors, complications were avoided. "After the baby was born, specialists cared for her for three more weeks and helped her grow stronger. Now, the mother and daughter are home with their family," said Anastasia Rakova.
In July, a pregnant patient presented to the Perinatal Center of City Clinical Hospital No. 67 complaining of deteriorating health during physical activity. She had previously been treated there due to the risk of premature labor. The complexity of her case was that several years earlier, she had been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which causes circulatory problems.
As a result of the examination, doctors discovered that the patient had anemia caused by iron deficiency, irregular heart rhythms and musculoskeletal muscle function, high blood pressure due to pregnancy, chronic heart failure, and other health problems.
To develop an optimal pregnancy management plan, specialists from the remote coordination center organized a multidisciplinary consultation. Following the discussion, the doctors decided to extend the pregnancy. The patient was hospitalized in the pregnancy pathology department. Labor began prematurely, at 35 weeks. Specialists performed a successful cesarean section, resulting in the birth of a healthy baby girl. Three days after the surgery, the mother was discharged home, and the newborn remained under observation in a specialized department. For three weeks, doctors from the perinatal center provided necessary care and helped the baby grow stronger. Both mother and baby are now under regular outpatient monitoring by specialists.
