In July this year, Shenzhen's total import and export volume reached 415.94 billion yuan, up 6.2 percent year on year. In particular, exports totaled 255.62 billion yuan, setting a new record for monthly exports since the beginning of this year, up 4.7 percent year on year, while imports rose 8.8 percent to 160.32 billion yuan.

Shenzhen's export growth was driven by strong competitiveness in both traditional electronics and emerging strategic industries. In the first seven months, the export of electromechanical products reached 1.17 trillion yuan, accounting for 74.7 percent of Shenzhen's total exports.

Shenzhen's strategic emerging industries have shown strong growth. In January-July, the city's exports of lithium batteries and all-electric passenger vehicles rose 37.9 percent and 21.7 percent, respectively, while integrated circuit exports rose 40.9 percent.

In the first seven months of this year, Shenzhen's imports of electromechanical products grew 14.7 percent year-on-year, accounting for 82.1 percent of the city's total imports, with the total value reaching 836.56 billion yuan.

Private enterprises have played an important role in the development of Shenzhen's foreign trade. From January to July, their foreign trade turnover was 1.8 trillion yuan, or 69.8 percent of the city's total foreign trade. -0-

Associate Professor of the Higher School of Industrial Management of IPMEiT Olga Ergunova took part in the International Conference AHIBS-ACT 2025: Weaving Horizons for Sustainable Impact, organized by the Business School of the University of Technology Malaysia with the support of international academic and scientific partners from Southeast Asian countries.

At the conference, Olga Ergunova presented two reports reflecting the results of the RSF research project “Neural network solutions for managing social and labor relations in the digital economy of megacities.”

The first report included the results of a sociological study and forecast scenarios up to 2035 concerning the integration of artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies into the management of human resources in megacities. The second was prepared in collaboration with Olga Kalinina, Director of the Higher School of Industrial Management, and Andrey Somov, Senior Lecturer at the Higher School of Industrial Management, and concerned the assessment of the impact of the HR policy of industrial enterprises on the sustainable development of Russian cities. The study focused on optimizing employee profiling mechanisms, reducing transaction costs, and increasing the transparency of labor contracts. The work was awarded the conference prize for the best report (Best Paper Award).

In addition to the main conference program, Olga Ergunova took part in a special scientific session for researchers and experts (Doctoral Colloquium), where she presented methodological and analytical tools, as well as key results of the RSF project. The presentation sparked a lively discussion among representatives of universities from Malaysia, Indonesia, China and India, who were interested in the possibilities of joint research in the field of digital transformation of labor markets and human capital development in megacities.

As part of the 2025 admission campaign, 1,333 people were admitted to budget places at NSU

Novosibirsk State University sums up the interim results of the 2025 admission campaign. At the priority and main stages, 1,333 people were admitted to budget places for bachelor's and specialist's degrees, including places of separate, special and target quotas, this year, of which 116 people are winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Olympiad and Olympiads from the list of the Russian Society of Schoolchildren. The geography of those admitted includes 64 regions of Russia, the share of out-of-town applicants is more than 70%.

This year, the number of applications for all bachelor's and specialist's degree programs exceeded 23 thousand, which is 17% more than in 2024. Also, the number of applicants who applied for admission to NSU increased by almost 7% and amounted to more than 8,200 people. The average score for the budget for the main competition remained at the 2024 level – about 85.

At the stage of priority enrollment within a separate quota (children of SVO participants) in 2025, the number of students increased threefold and amounted to 93 people from 21 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, including 29 people without entrance examinations. Within the special quota, 40 people were enrolled, of which 10 were orphans and children left without parental care, and 30 were disabled. Within the targeted admission, 20 people were enrolled, most of them in the direction of "General Medicine".

Schoolchildren from all over Russia entered NSU, and the geography of applicants expanded: if in 2024, students represented 58 regions, then this year – 64. The top 5 regions include Novosibirsk Oblast (40%), Altai Krai and the Altai Republic (9%), Kemerovo Oblast (9%), Irkutsk Oblast and Zabaykalsky Krai (6.5%), Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk Oblasts (4%). The largest number of out-of-town applicants is in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Physics and Mechanics and Mathematics Faculties – more than 75%.

An innovation, compared to 2024, is the development of programs by the university with the support of industrial partners.

— This year we launched several new promising areas. For example, a new bachelor's degree program "Applied Artificial Intelligence" to train top specialists in the field of AI, which is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation and the Analytical Center under the Government of the Russian Federation. The anchor partner of the program is the multidisciplinary IT holding T1. More than 300 applications for 150 places with tuition fees were submitted for the program. Also, for the first time, recruitment took place for new programs of the Institute of Medicine and Medical Technologies of NSU: "Medical Cybernetics" (specialist) and "Industrial Pharmacy" (master's degree). These are network educational programs, implemented jointly with the Engineering School of Moscow State University, the industrial partners are the companies "Generium" and "Pharmstandard". New medical areas will be developed on the basis of the infrastructure of the NSU campus under construction, — said the rector of NSU, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Mikhail Fedoruk.

If we talk about the most popular areas, then traditionally there is high competition in areas with a small number of budget places. This year, the top 5 included "Jurisprudence" (67 people per place), "Linguistics" (44 people per place), "Business Informatics" (42 people per place), "Sociology" (34 people per place), "Informatics and Computer Science. Computer Science and Systems Engineering" (33 people per place).

— We are seeing an increase in interest in engineering and IT specialties. Thus, the following areas showed the greatest increase in the number of applications, compared to 2024: "Informatics and Computer Engineering", "Mathematics and Mechanics", "Mathematics and Computer Science", "Applied Mathematics and Physics". The last of the above-mentioned programs is relatively new: we launched it only last year, this year we doubled the recruitment, and the area turned out to be very popular: the competition was 31 people per place. Also this year we are seeing a positive trend — interest in the "Physics. Fundamental Research" area has grown: both the number of applications and the average passing score have increased, — added Mikhail Fedoruk.

Every year, digital channels of interaction with applicants are becoming increasingly popular: this year, more than 80% of schoolchildren submitted applications through the State Services portal.

The Department of Geotechnics is studying how oil pollution affects sandy foundations

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

At the Department of Geotechnics of SPbGASU, under the scientific supervision of Honored Scientist of Russia, Corresponding Member of RAASN, Doctor of Engineering Rashid Mangushev, changes in the condition of sandy foundations when they are contaminated with oil and oil products are being studied.

The research as part of the preparation of the candidate's dissertation is carried out by postgraduate student and senior lecturer of the department Alina Kvashuk.

The aim of the work is to assess the nature and degree of change in the physical and mechanical characteristics of sandy soils when interacting with oil and oil products, which will allow us to predict changes in the condition of soils at the base of structures during man-made pollution.

As part of the study, recommendations were developed for the calculation methodology for the limit states of foundations of buildings and structures on contaminated sandy bases, taking into account changes in the physical and mechanical properties of soils. This will ensure long-term and trouble-free operation of buildings and structures of the oil complex.

The work is being carried out within the framework of a grant for the implementation of research work by research and teaching staff of SPbGASU in 2025.
