PYONGYANG, July 22 (Xinhua) — A major North Korean shipyard has announced plans to build another advanced destroyer, state media reported Tuesday.

At a mobilization meeting held Monday, the Nampo Shipyard pledged to build the third Choe Hyon-class destroyer by Oct. 10, 2026, the founding date of the Workers' Party of Korea, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.

Nampo Shipyard Director Yun Chi-gor hailed the shipyard's success in building the country's first new-generation multipurpose destroyer and called on the shipyard's workers to build the new warship on time, KCNA reported, citing the official's address to the crowd.

Nampo Shipyard unveiled the country's first Choe Hyon-class destroyer at a launch ceremony in April this year, while the second destroyer of the class capsized and sank due to a "serious accident" during a launch ceremony at Chongjin Shipyard in May. BEIJING, July 22 (Xinhua) — Qizhala, a former member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), has been expelled from the CPC and dismissed from public service for serious violations of party discipline and laws, an official statement said Tuesday.

Almaty, July 22 (Xinhua) — Kazakhstan plans to double copper production by 2030 by launching new large deposits – Aidarly, Koksay and Benkala, the Kazinform news agency reported on Tuesday, citing the country's Vice Minister of Industry and Construction Olzhas Saparbekov.

According to him, due to the launch of three new deposits, copper ore production will increase to 300 million tons.

Iron ore production will grow by 40 percent /to 52 million tons/ due to increased domestic processing and the launch of projects to produce hot briquetted iron.

This, in turn, will contribute to the growth of copper production from 500 thousand tons to 1.2 million tons; hot briquetted iron to 5 million tons; steel from 4.1 to 13 million tons.

"According to our calculations, by 2030 a significant volume of produced metals will be processed within the country, bringing them to high-value products. Thus, copper processing will reach 91 thousand tons, aluminum – 163 thousand tons and lead – 81 thousand tons," noted O. Saparbekov.

The vice minister also added that in 2025, Kazakhstan plans to increase copper processing by 2 times, aluminum by 1.5 times, lead by 2.3 times, and zinc by 11 percent. –0–

ISLAMABAD, July 22 (Xinhua) — At least 221 people have been killed and 592 others injured in flash floods and other incidents caused by heavy monsoon rains in Pakistan since late June, the country's National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said.

In its latest situation report, released on Monday, the agency said the casualties were recorded between June 26 and July 21, with five new deaths and 10 injuries reported in the past 24 hours.

The eastern province of Punjab was the worst hit, with 135 people killed and 470 injured. In the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 46 people were killed and 69 injured.

The southern province of Sindh reported 22 deaths and 40 injuries, while the southwestern province of Balochistan reported 16 deaths and four injuries.

The NDMA confirmed no fatalities in the northern Gilgit-Baltistan region, although three people were injured. Pakistan-administered Kashmir reported one death and six injuries, with one child injured in Islamabad, the capital.
