Almaty, July 22 (Xinhua) — Kazakhstan plans to double copper production by 2030 by launching new large deposits – Aidarly, Koksay and Benkala, the Kazinform news agency reported on Tuesday, citing the country's Vice Minister of Industry and Construction Olzhas Saparbekov.

According to him, due to the launch of three new deposits, copper ore production will increase to 300 million tons.

Iron ore production will grow by 40 percent /to 52 million tons/ due to increased domestic processing and the launch of projects to produce hot briquetted iron.

This, in turn, will contribute to the growth of copper production from 500 thousand tons to 1.2 million tons; hot briquetted iron to 5 million tons; steel from 4.1 to 13 million tons.

"According to our calculations, by 2030 a significant volume of produced metals will be processed within the country, bringing them to high-value products. Thus, copper processing will reach 91 thousand tons, aluminum – 163 thousand tons and lead – 81 thousand tons," noted O. Saparbekov.

The vice minister also added that in 2025, Kazakhstan plans to increase copper processing by 2 times, aluminum by 1.5 times, lead by 2.3 times, and zinc by 11 percent. –0–

Moscow, July 22 /Xinhua/ — In response to anti-Russian sanctions, Russia restricts entry for EU citizens who support Ukraine, a number of European politicians and activists. Anti-Russian hostile actions are not able to influence Russia's policy in any way, Moscow will continue to follow the course of upholding the country's national interests and protecting a new fair world order. This is stated in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry on retaliatory measures to the 17th and 18th packages of sanctions of the European Union (EU) against the Russian Federation.

“In response to these unfriendly actions, the Russian side has significantly expanded the list of representatives of European institutions, EU member states and a number of European states that are integrating into Brussels’ anti-Russian policy, who, in accordance with the Federal Law… are prohibited from entering the territory of our state,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

In particular, the entry ban was imposed on representatives of European security agencies, citizens providing support to Ukraine, “carrying out activities aimed at undermining the territorial integrity of our country and organizing a blockade of the movement of Russian ships and cargo in the Baltic Sea,” individuals advocating for the confiscation of Russian state assets or the use of profits from them in the interests of the Kyiv regime, those responsible for the introduction of sanctions against our country and trying to harm Russia’s relations with other states, individual activists and politicians.

"Anti-Russian hostile actions are not capable of exerting any influence on the policy of our country. Russia will continue to follow the course of defending its national interests and protecting the new fair world order. Subsequent sanctions decisions by the European Union will also receive a timely and adequate response," the statement of the Foreign Ministry emphasized. –0–

NEW YORK, July 22 (Xinhua) — The "Big Beautiful" law signed into law on July 4 will increase the U.S. budget deficit by $3.39 trillion between 2025 and 2034, according to a report released by the U.S. Congressional Budget Office on Monday.

The agency's latest estimate is higher than the $3.25 trillion it made in late June, shortly before Congress passed the bill.

The report notes that the increase in the deficit is due to a reduction in direct spending of $1.1 trillion and a decrease in budget revenues of $4.5 trillion.

The tax and budget bill reflects US President Donald Trump's policy agenda, including tax cuts, increased funding for military spending and border security.

The law is sparking heated debate among lawmakers and U.S. citizens across political parties and income levels.

Its massive impact on the US budget deficit in the coming years has raised concerns both domestically and internationally.

The law is expected to increase U.S. borrowing by $4.1 trillion, including interest, said Maya McGinnis, chairwoman of the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget.

As of mid-2025, the U.S. national debt exceeds $36.2 trillion, and the debt-to-GDP ratio has exceeded World War II levels. –0–
