Beijing, October 14 (Xinhua) — China will continue to deeply implement its innovation-driven development strategy, integrate more openly into the global market, and share the fruits of its scientific and technological development with the world, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian announced on Tuesday.

Lin Jian made the announcement at a regular press briefing in response to recent comments from International Federation of Robotics (IFR) President Takayuki Ito, who recently stated in an interview that China's robotics industry is growing at an unprecedented pace, becoming an important driver of automation in the global manufacturing industry.

The Chinese diplomat noted that, according to the World Robotics 2025 report published by the IFR, the number of industrial robots in operation in China will exceed 2 million units in 2024, placing China first in the world in this indicator.

“At the same time, we see that Chinese robots are demonstrating potential for widespread application in areas such as automotive manufacturing, electronics, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, consumer services, medicine, and education, gradually moving from laboratories to factory production lines and into people’s homes around the world,” Lin Jian emphasized.

The mass production of robots in China and the diversity of their application scenarios are driven by strong innovative momentum and a constantly improving industrial development environment, Lin Jian continued, noting that such progress not only accelerates the growth of domestic enterprises but also stimulates the coordinated development of international supply chains and related industries.

According to him, China currently has over 500,000 high-tech enterprises, and the number of "lighthouse factories" representing the cutting-edge of intelligent manufacturing and digitalization exceeds 40 percent of the global total. China also ranks first in the world in this indicator.

“This creates an inexhaustible new impetus for the Chinese economy and brings wisdom and strength to global scientific and technological progress,” added the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry. –0–

Moscow, October 14 (Xinhua) — China's focus on technological sovereignty and sustainable development during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) has enabled it to strengthen its economic position. This was stated by Boris Titov, Special Presidential Representative for Liaison with International Organizations to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals and Chairman of the Russian Section of the Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace, and Development, ahead of the 4th Plenary Session of the 20th Communist Party of China Central Committee.

"China has placed a premium on technological sovereignty and sustainable development, which has allowed it to strengthen its position in the face of global competition and sanctions pressure," he said in an interview with Xinhua.

B. Titov emphasized that China's average annual economic growth in the first four years of the 14th Five-Year Plan was 5.5 percent. He praised China's achievements in such areas as mechanical engineering and transportation, biotechnology and healthcare, high technology, and digitalization. The expert particularly highlighted the expansion of microchip production, the creation of the world's largest 5G network, and the development of artificial intelligence.

B. Titov highlighted China's successes in green energy and the greening of its economy. He noted that China is rapidly transitioning to renewable energy sources: solar, wind, and hydropower. Furthermore, China has become the undisputed world leader in electric vehicle production.

According to a Xinhua source, clear economic planning within the five-year plans allows China to successfully implement the Belt and Road Initiative. "By 2025, China's Belt and Road Initiative has transformed into a soft power tool, shifting its focus from raw materials infrastructure to digital and green technologies," the expert noted.

Speaking about the new 15th Five-Year Social and Economic Development Plan (2026-2030), B. Titov suggested that China will continue to move toward sustainable and high-quality growth. "The 15th plan aims to transform China into a 'high-income society' with an emphasis on the quality of growth, not speed," he emphasized.

The Russian expert also expressed hope for the further development of cooperation between China and Russia. Among the priority areas, B. Titov highlighted energy, increased supplies of Russian agricultural products to the Chinese market, increased Chinese investment in major transport projects and ports along the Northern Sea Route, and the development of the Digital Silk Road.

St. Petersburg, October 14 (Xinhua) — The first transit container voyage from China to Europe via the Northern Sea Route (NSR) arrived at the British port of Felixstowe, the press service of the Russian corporation Rosatom reported on Tuesday.

The vessel, carrying nearly 25,000 tons of cargo containers, departed from Ningbo on September 23 and entered the NSR on October 1. It arrived in Felixstowe on October 13. The journey through the Russian Arctic took 20 days, almost half the time it would take via traditional southern routes. According to Rosatom, the shorter distance allows for not only significantly shorter travel times and cargo transportation costs, but also a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.

On Tuesday, an action plan for the further development of NSR transport between China and Russia was approved in Harbin, China. The parties are working to establish a sustainable transport corridor.
