BEIJING, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) — The number of border crossings in both directions through Alashankou Port in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region reached 156,000 in the first three quarters of 2025, up 0.41 percent year-on-year, according to a statement posted on the official website of Alashankou City Hall.

With the introduction of a visa-free regime between China and Kazakhstan and the continued strengthening of cross-border tourism cooperation, the Alashankou checkpoint is stepping up efforts to provide better services to facilitate exchanges between the people of China and Central Asian countries.

Alashankou Customs provides multilingual customs clearance guides to more accurately explain customs and passport control procedures to arriving and departing travelers. Using intelligent equipment such as millimeter-wave body monitoring systems, temperature screening barriers, and X-ray baggage inspection machines, Alashankou has created an integrated screening channel, significantly reducing the time required to complete this procedure.

At the same time, the city's customs officials are also strengthening exchanges and interactions with various joint inspection structures, improving the structure of the customs and passport control process, and taking comprehensive measures to simplify procedures in order to increase the efficiency of customs inspection at the border crossing. -0-

Nengkaman, 40, is from Qiaoqi Zang Township, Baoxing County, Ya'an City, Sichuan Province.

In 2007, Nengkaman and her husband, Atai, opened a Tibetan-style guesthouse in their home, where they hosted children on educational excursions and took them to the pastures to introduce them to nature and local life.

In 2014, she began photographing the everyday life and culture of her native region. While photographing, she discovered that the skills of yak wool weaving and the weaving of colorful Qiaoqi belts, once mandatory for local women, were gradually becoming endangered as fewer and fewer people took up the craft. She then decided to preserve these traditional arts and pass them on to future generations.

In 2016, she founded the textile workshop "Nengkaman," where she combines traditional techniques with contemporary design to create backpacks, scarves, belts, and other handcrafted items. As orders increased, she began to recruit rural women, who now have the opportunity to earn extra income in their free time.

Today, she is the city's inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage "Qiaoqi Colored Belt Weaving Technique", and her workshop has been recognized as an excellent workshop for intangible cultural heritage in Sichuan Province.

Recently, the renovation of the Wenchang Aerospace Science Popularization Center in Hainan Province entered its final stages. It is open to the public for a short period of time, free of charge, to test the facility's functionality and service levels and lay the groundwork for its official opening.

The center is located at the main gate of China's Wenchang Spaceport. This advantage allows it, under the motto "To the Star Seas—Launch from Wenchang," to comprehensively showcase China's glorious history in space exploration—from vision to realization.

Following the renovation, the center's exhibition was transformed into an immersive system covering multidimensional topics: the history of cosmonautics, rocket launches, space science, and future exploration.

Moscow, October 14 /Xinhua/ — Sales of new vehicles on the Russian market in the fourth quarter of 2025 are expected to total 350,000 units, and 1.3-1.4 million for the entire year. This was announced on Tuesday by Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Anton Alikhanov.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade previously reported that just over 1 million vehicles of all types, including passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks, and buses, were sold in Russia from January to September 2025. The market decline compared to the same period last year was 24.6%.

According to A. Alikhanov, given the dynamics of the automotive market, the ministry expects a total of 350,000 vehicles to be sold in the fourth quarter.

"By the end of 2025, the new car market across all segments will reach approximately 1.3-1.4 million units. This is approximately a quarter less than last year's results, but it may exceed the more moderate growth figures for 2023, when approximately 1.3 million cars were sold," the minister noted.

He also noted that demand stimulation measures, the main ones being preferential car loans and leasing, continue to support the market. "In the first eight months of 2025, approximately 115,000 domestically produced cars have already been sold using these instruments," A. Alikhanov clarified.

BEIJING, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) — China's three leading telecom operators — China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom — have officially launched electronic SIM card (eSIM) phone services nationwide.

China Telecom announced that eSIM phone services are now available throughout China. Consumers can activate the service in physical stores or pre-order online through the company's app, then visit a pre-selected store for activation.

China Mobile said it will provide eSIM services across its entire product line, covering not only smartphones but also smartwatches, tablets, and in-car devices.

The eSIM phone service integrates the functions of a physical SIM card into the phone's built-in chip. Without inserting a physical SIM card, eSIM-enabled phone users can remotely upload their mobile numbers and store them on the phone's chip. Phones equipped with eSIM offer the same features as their traditional SIM card counterparts, including voice calls, mobile data, and text messaging services.
