Islamabad, October 29 (Xinhua) — The latest round of Pakistan-Afghan dialogue, held in Istanbul, "failed to produce any viable solution," Pakistan's Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, said on Wednesday.

Rio de Janeiro, October 29 (Xinhua) — At least 64 people were killed and 81 arrested on Tuesday during a major police operation in Rio de Janeiro to combat the "Red Command" (Comando Vermelho) criminal group in the Alemao and Penha favelas, officials said.

The Rio de Janeiro state government called this operation the deadliest in the city's history. More than 2,500 police officers participated in it, deploying them to 26 communities across two favelas.

JAKARTA, October 29 (Xinhua) — Indonesia plans to launch its first nuclear power plant by 2032 as part of its efforts to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, Deputy Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Yuliot Tanjung announced at a meeting of the Nuclear Regulatory Agency's Executive Committee on Tuesday.

RIYADH, Oct. 29 (Xinhua) — Chinese Vice President Han Zheng addressed the 9th Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference here on Tuesday, calling for joint efforts to pursue win-win cooperation and achieve common prosperity.

Promoting development and prosperity is the common aspiration of the international community and a common task facing all countries, especially developing countries, Han Zheng noted.
