Lee Jae-myung was born in December 1964. Since 2010, he has served successively as mayor of Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province and as governor of that province.

Since 2022, he has been twice elected as a deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Kazakhstan from the Toburo Democratic Party and served as its chairman.

Lee Jae-myung took office as President of the Republic of Korea in June 2025.

Married to Kim Hye Kyung, he has two sons.

Kyiv, January 3 (Xinhua) — Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Telegram on Saturday that he is proposing to appoint Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal to the positions of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy.

V. Zelenskyy thanked D. Shmyhal for his systematic work at the Ministry of Defense and for intensifying processes necessary for the defense of Ukraine.

The President of Ukraine also expressed hope that the Verkhovna Rada will approve D. Shmyhal in his new position.

M. Martin was born in 1960 in Cork, Ireland. He graduated from the National University of Ireland in Cork. Gaza, January 3 (Xinhua) — Two Palestinians, including an 11-year-old girl, were killed Saturday by Israeli shelling in the Gaza Strip, as Israel launched airstrikes on the eastern part of the enclave, Palestinian sources reported.

Gaza Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal told Xinhua that a 27-year-old man was shot dead while attempting to reach his home in the al-Shuja'iya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City.
