BEIJING, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) — All countries should respect the development paths independently chosen by people in other countries and abide by international law and the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, with major countries playing a leading role in this regard, Chinese President Xi Jinping said Monday.

The modern world is undergoing change and upheaval, and unilateralism and bullying are seriously undermining the international order, Xi Jinping said at a meeting with Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin in Beijing. -0-

BEIJING, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) — The number of China-Europe freight trains passing through the Ereen railway port in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region reached a record high of 3,986 in 2025, the Neimenggu Ribao daily reported.

The Ereenhot checkpoint is a key hub in the central corridor of international railway freight transport between China and Europe, as well as in the China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor.

Since 2013, when China-Europe trains began operating through the Erenhot checkpoint, more than 21,000 such trains have passed through. The range of goods carried by these trains is becoming increasingly diversified, including not only metals, chemicals, clothing, footwear, and headwear, but also high-value-added products such as new energy vehicles, electronics, and household appliances.

Last year, to ensure the smooth operation of China-Europe trains, the Ereenhot railway checkpoint continued to improve the integrated operation model of the station of the same name and the Mongolian station of Dzamyn-Ude, ensuring the timely exchange of information between them on the composition of the traffic flow and facilitating the resolution of problems such as the reception and departure of trains, loading and unloading operations, and the regulation of traffic flow.

At the same time, the Ereenhot Port has maintained close ties with customs and border control and made significant efforts to build a “digital port” to improve customs clearance efficiency for China-Europe freight trains. -0-

Conakry, January 4 (Xinhua) — Guinea's Supreme Court on Sunday evening validated the final results of the December 28, 2025, presidential election, declaring Mamady Doumbouya the winner with 86.72 percent of the vote and proclaiming him President of Guinea.

At a press briefing, the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Fode Bangura, officially announced the election of M. Dumbuya as president for a seven-year term in accordance with the country's constitution.

According to previously published data from Guinea's Directorate General of Elections, approximately 6.8 million voters were registered to participate in the elections. Voter turnout was initially announced at 80.95 percent, but was later revised by the Supreme Court and increased to 82.86 percent.

The presidential election marked a major step in Guinea's efforts to restore constitutional order. In September 2021, then-President Alpha Condé was overthrown in a military coup, leading to the establishment of a transitional government led by M. Doumbouya.
