BEIJING, September 29 (Xinhua) — China saw nearly 3.29 billion domestic tourist trips in the first six months of 2025, setting a new high for the country's tourism sector, Chinese Minister of Culture and Tourism Sun Yeli announced on Monday.

During the reporting period, total domestic tourist spending reached 3.15 trillion yuan (US$443 billion), also breaking the previous record, Sun Yeli added at a press conference.

The minister emphasized that, having withstood the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, China's tourism sector is showing a strong recovery.

Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China Wang Jianhua said that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), the country will strive to provide more high-quality tourism products.

Wang Jianhua noted that during this time, 2,600 new tourist areas classified as Category A have been established in China, bringing the total number of such areas in the country to 16,500. According to the deputy minister, Category A tourist areas now exist in 97 percent of China's county-level administrative units.

Furthermore, the diverse and personalized needs of travelers are being met significantly better. For example, tourist train services adapted for seniors have seen significant growth. From January to August of this year, 1,551 trains of this type operated in China, carrying 930,000 passengers, 80 percent of whom were senior citizens.

BEIJING, September 29 (Xinhua) — China firmly opposes Japan's inclusion of Chinese entities on its national export control list and urges the Japanese side to immediately cease this practice, a spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce stated on Monday.

The official spokesperson made the statement in response to a media question. Earlier that day, Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry updated its export control "end-user list," adding several Chinese companies and removing two.

Japan has unjustifiably included Chinese companies in this list without a factual basis, a Ministry of Commerce representative stated, emphasizing that China resolutely rejects this move, which will harm the interests of enterprises in both countries.

Regarding Japan's removal of two Chinese companies from the list, he said China welcomes the move as it is in the common interests of both sides.

“We are ready to intensify communications with Japan to facilitate the removal of even more Chinese companies from this list,” the official representative added. –0–

Tehran, September 29 (Xinhua) — Attempts by European countries and the United States to reinstate repealed UN Security Council resolutions against Iran constitute a "unilateral rewriting" of international law, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated in a letter addressed to his foreign counterparts.

He said these "allegations" must be rejected because they, among other things, contradict the spirit of Resolution 2231, which endorsed the 2015 nuclear deal between Iran and world powers, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Resolution 2231 terminated previous UN Security Council resolutions on Iran's nuclear program, including all sanctions measures, and established a clear timeframe for all nuclear-related restrictions to expire on October 18, 2025, the Iranian Foreign Minister noted. He added that the resolution does not grant any country the right to unilaterally amend, reinterpret, or expand its provisions.

A. Araghchi noted that the snapback procedure referred to by the European “troika” (France, Great Britain, Germany) and the United States was “invalid,” citing the US withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018 and the failure of European countries to fulfill their obligations under the deal.

Neither Iran nor any other UN member state was legally obligated to comply with such “illegal” demands, he noted, declaring that Iran would continue to defend its sovereign rights and legitimate interests while remaining open to “genuine negotiations on an equal basis.” –0–

CHENGDU, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — The opening of the first expressway linking Jiuzhaigou Valley and Mianyang City in southwest China's Sichuan Province on Monday has cut travel time from Chengdu, the provincial capital, to the UNESCO World Heritage site from eight hours to four.

The Jiuzhaigou-Mianyang Expressway is approximately 246 km long and has two lanes in each direction, with a design speed of 80 km/h.

Built in northwestern Sichuan Province, in a cold, high-altitude region with challenging terrain, the expressway was designed according to the principles of maximum environmental protection, minimum ecological damage, and maximum natural restoration, avoiding excessive excavation, soil fill, and reducing land use, according to its designers.

The new highway not only puts an end to the lack of expressways in Pingwu and Beichuan counties of Mianyang City, but also becomes a major transportation corridor linking Sichuan Province with Gansu, Qinghai, and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

Jiuzhaigou Valley, also known as Jiuzhaigou National Park, is known for its spectacular waterfalls, lush forests, serene plateau lakes, and karst rock formations.

Situated in the mountains on the eastern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations in China.

According to Guo Xiaomin, deputy director of the Jiuzhaigou Tourism Zone Administration, the number of visitors to the Jiuzhaigou Valley has grown rapidly in recent years. Since the beginning of this year, 5.075 million people have visited the national park, a 26.81 percent increase from the previous year, including 296,000 foreign tourists, a 52.51 percent increase year-on-year.

The opening of this expressway also makes it easier for visitors to access the Bao'en Temple, which inspired the creators of the world-famous AAA Chinese role-playing game "Black Myth: Wukong" to design one of the game's locations. -0-

BEIJING, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) — China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Monday announced it has granted China Mobile a license to operate satellite mobile communications services.

This means that all three major Chinese mobile operators – China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom – now have licenses to provide satellite mobile services covering application scenarios such as emergency communications, maritime communications and communications in remote areas.

The aforementioned ministry expects that a market characterized by moderate competition and favorable interactions will emerge in China, which will make satellite mobile communications services more accessible to ordinary consumers.

The ministry promised to further optimize market access procedures for satellite communications, strengthen supervision and security in the industry, and promote the high-quality development of China's satellite communications industry. -0-

Moscow, September 29 /Xinhua/ — The Second Confucius Culture Festival, timed to coincide with the 2576th anniversary of the birth of the ancient Chinese thinker, was held on Sunday at the Park Huaming Chinese Business Center in Moscow.

Opening the event, Zhang Wei, Chargé d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Russia, stated that in recent years, against the backdrop of the high-level development of Chinese-Russian relations, humanitarian exchanges between the two countries have been constantly deepening, and the interest of peoples in each other and in each other's cultures is growing.

"Cultural exchange is a dialogue between hearts, the cornerstone of friendship. We hope that this festival will serve as an opportunity to further advance exchanges and cooperation between China and Russia in various fields, including education, culture, and the arts," he emphasized.

This year, the Confucius Culture Festival's program became even more extensive. Visitors, many of whom were children and teenagers, enjoyed vibrant performances featuring traditional songs and dances, participated in Chinese calligraphy workshops, and recited classic verses from Confucius's works. These events provided a richer understanding of Chinese culture.

The festival featured an exhibition of Chinese calligraphy and painting dedicated to Confucius and his legacy. It featured nearly one hundred works of art on the theme of Confucian culture, including paintings by Russian artists. Artists and calligraphers from Confucius's birthplace—Shandong Province in China—brought exquisite works reflecting Confucius's ideas, demonstrating Chinese culture, and celebrating Sino-Russian friendship.
