Almaty, October 2 (Xinhua) — The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) forecasts global primary energy demand to increase by 23 percent from 308 million barrels per day (bpd) to 378 million bpd. Shenzhen, October 2 (Xinhua) — As of September 21, since the launch of the direct passenger air route between Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, and Mexico City more than a year ago, 348 flights have been operated in both directions. The total number of passengers has exceeded 50,000, the Shenzhen branch of China Southern Airlines reported on Thursday.

The Shenzhen-Mexico City flight, covering over 14,000 kilometers, is currently the longest direct international route operated by Chinese civil aviation.

Jakarta, October 2 (Xinhua) — The Lewotobi Laki Laki volcano in Indonesia's East Nusa Tenggara province erupted on Wednesday. Ash plumes were recorded reaching a height of 5 kilometers, prompting the aviation alert level to be raised to maximum, according to Indonesia's Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center.
