TEHRAN, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) — Iran's Foreign Ministry on Friday condemned the "intrusive and irresponsible" resolution against Tehran adopted by the European Parliament.

In a document approved on Thursday, the European Parliament accused the Iranian government of human rights violations during the recent unrest in the country, expressed “full solidarity” with the Iranian people and called for the designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the resolution contained "false and incorrect" allegations about recent events in Iran, as well as "intrusive and irresponsible" statements against the country.

"Support for the introduction of harsh sanctions, compliance with the illegal American embargo against Iran, and aiding Israel in its June military aggression" against the Islamic Republic leave the European Parliament with no moral right to speak about human rights, the ministry noted.

Iran is obliged to protect the security of its citizens, public order and national sovereignty from any act of terrorism or foreign threat and interference, and Tehran will take action in response to any “illegal and interventionist” decision or position regarding its army and security forces, the statement emphasized.

Since late December, protests have erupted in several Iranian cities due to the sharp decline in the rial. The Iranian government has expressed its readiness to address the economic problems but also warned against violence, vandalism, and unrest.

Initially peaceful protests gradually turned violent, resulting in casualties and damage to public property, mosques, government buildings, and banks, particularly on January 8-9. Iran blamed the United States and Israel for inciting the unrest.

JAKARTA, January 24 (Xinhua) — At least seven people were killed on Saturday by a landslide accompanied by flash floods in the West Bandung region of Indonesia's West Java province, leaving hundreds missing, local media reported.

The disaster occurred around 3:00 a.m. local time. Residents reported hearing a loud roar, followed by a torrent of earth and mud that swept from the village of Pasirkuning toward the village of Pasir Kuda. Dozens of homes were buried under rubble.

According to preliminary police reports, seven bodies had been recovered as of 12:00 PM Saturday local time. Several hundred people are believed to still be trapped under the rubble or missing. Rescuers continue their efforts, but are hampered by the difficult terrain, the depth of the landslide, and the possibility of further rainfall.

Local authorities have urged residents living near the affected area to remain cautious and stay away from landslide-prone areas due to the risk of further disasters.

Chengdu, January 24 (Xinhua) — Ten trucks carrying 300 tons of high-quality green tea departed Jiajiang County, Leshan City, southwest China's Sichuan Province, on Thursday for Tashkent. This is the first batch of tea exported from Sichuan Province in 2026.

The trucks will cross the border through a checkpoint in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (Northwest China), and then travel along the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan highway to the Uzbek capital, Tashkent.

"The export of this batch of tea demonstrates the broad prospects for the development of the tea industry in Jiajiang County under the Belt and Road Initiative," said Gu Cuiqiong, chairman of Hongchun Tea Company.

According to her, the company's revenue from tea exports has almost doubled over the past two years, and the company's overseas shipment volume is expected to reach 20,000 tons by 2026.

In recent years, Jiajiang County has been actively transforming its tea industry structure toward export-oriented production. In 2025, the total value of tea exported from Jiajiang County was approximately $29 million.

In addition, this county established the first overseas tea warehouse in Uzbekistan for Sichuan Province, and its supply geography covers about 20 countries and regions of the world, including Russia, Uzbekistan and Morocco. -0-

TEHRAN, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) — Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Friday that 10 foreign intelligence agencies were behind recent "terrorist" incidents in the country.

In a statement published on the official website Sepah News, the IRGC described these incidents as part of a failed "American-Israeli plan" to threaten Iran's territorial and national integrity. The statement claimed that after the 12-day conflict in June, a foreign "control center" was established with the aim of causing internal chaos, provoking military intervention, and mobilizing groups perceived as a threat. However, the statement provided no evidence.

The IRGC said it had successfully disrupted plots from June to the end of December last year, detained 735 people linked to "anti-security networks," informed 11,000 "vulnerable individuals," and seized 743 illegal weapons.

According to the official Islamic Republic of Iran News Agency (IRNA), Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf called the recent unrest a "quasi-coup" supported by the United States and Israel. He made these remarks on Thursday during a phone call with his Turkish counterpart, Grand National Assembly Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş, during which he thanked Turkey for its policy of non-interference in Iran's internal affairs.

Last month, protests sparked by economic problems erupted across Iran. They subsequently turned political and escalated into violence, resulting in casualties and damage to public property, mosques, government buildings, and banks. Iranian authorities accused the United States and Israel of inciting the unrest.
