Cairo, February 6 (Xinhua) — Iran has deployed one of its largest missiles to an underground facility opened on Wednesday, the Fars news agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reported on Thursday.

According to the agency, the Khorramshahr-4 ballistic missile with a range of about 2,000 km is one of the combat assets demonstrated during the opening of an underground facility operated by the IRGC Aerospace Force.

The Fars news agency described the Khorramshahr-4 as one of the country's most advanced medium- and long-range ballistic missiles. Its warhead is capable of carrying over a ton of explosives, making it "one of the largest warheads developed in Iran."

During a 12-day conflict last June, Iran fired Khorramshahr-4 at Israel in response to US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

Iran and the United States plan to hold talks on Friday in Muscat, the capital of Oman, amid a recent US military buildup in the Middle East and Tehran's intensified preparations.

“Iran will not miss the opportunity to secure its national interests and maintain regional peace through diplomacy,” Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei wrote on social media on Thursday.

ALMATY, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) — The Xi'an Cultural Center in Almaty, Kazakhstan, hosted a celebration of the traditional Chinese Lunar New Year (Chunjie, or Spring Festival), whose symbol is the Fire Horse, on Thursday.

The event was organized by the cultural center in conjunction with the Association of Dungans of Kazakhstan (ADK) and the newspaper "Silk Road Today." It was attended by over 50 people, including cultural and public figures, academics, and representatives of the Dungan diaspora.

In his congratulatory speech, Khusei Daurov, head of the Association of Kazakh Culture and the New Silk Road International Academy Public Foundation, noted: "Kazakhstan is a young republic that is currently on the path to development. The Chinese have an old saying: 'Wade across a river by feeling for the stones.' I believe China's example and support are crucial for our country's development."

In his opening speech, Liu Zongjiang, Director of the Xi'an Cultural Center, noted that cultural exchanges foster mutual understanding between peoples. He explained that such events allow people to better understand each other's history, language, and traditions, and are held in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

“In the new year, we hope to continue to strengthen cooperation and cultural exchanges, bringing our peoples together and promoting long-lasting friendship,” Liu Zongjiang added. –0–

Oslo, February 6 (Xinhua) — Norway's National Authority for the Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime (Okokrim) announced Thursday that it has launched an investigation into former Prime Minister Thorbjørn Jagland on suspicion of serious corruption. The decision to launch the investigation followed the publication of new materials in the Jeffrey Epstein case.

The investigation will address the issue of T. Jagland receiving improper benefits, including gifts, travel reimbursements and loans, in connection with his positions as Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee and Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

Since T. Jagland, as the former head of an international organization, has immunity from prosecution, Okokrim requested that the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs deprive him of this right.

Norwegian media reported that recently released materials in the Epstein case have shed light on T. Jagland's contacts with the financier, including plans for a family visit to Epstein's private island in 2014, which was subsequently cancelled.

From 1996 to 1997, T. Jagland served as Prime Minister of Norway, from 2009 to 2019 as Secretary General of the Council of Europe, and from 2009 to 2015 as Chairman of the Norwegian Nobel Committee. –0–

Washington, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday called for replacing the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) between Russia and the United States with a "modernized" agreement.

“We should put our nuclear experts to work on a new, improved, and modernized treaty that can last for a long time,” Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres warned on Wednesday that the expiration of the New START treaty marks a "grave moment" for international peace and security.

The New START Treaty was signed by Russia and the United States in 2010 and entered into force on February 5, 2011, with an initial term of 10 years. It obligated the parties to reduce the number of deployed nuclear warheads and their delivery systems. The document was subsequently extended until February 4, 2026. –0–

Minsk, February 6 (Xinhua) — The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the situation surrounding Cuba and energy supplies to that country with concern. The corresponding statement was published by the Belarusian Foreign Ministry's press service on Thursday.

The statement said that particular concern is the threat of the current escalation in the Caribbean basin escalating into a serious humanitarian crisis with unpredictable consequences.

"Minsk consistently insists on the unacceptability of unilateral coercive measures that create obstacles to trade relations between states, hinder the process of comprehensive socio-economic development, and make it difficult to ensure the well-being of the population," the statement noted.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry expressed its firm conviction that all disagreements should be resolved through peaceful dialogue and within the framework of international law. –0–

Fifty-two-year-old Zhou Banghui lives in Datong Hui and Tu Autonomous County, Xining City, Qinghai Province. He is the heir to the Hehuang Shadow Theatre, an intangible cultural heritage of national significance. Zhou Banghui began studying this art in 1996 and has remained inextricably linked with shadow theatre for nearly three decades. In 2011, he founded the 13-member Xinyi Theatre Troupe, which performs in courtyards, squares, and temple fairs in rural areas, telling familiar stories through light and shadow.

With the expansion of its performance space, Hehuang Shadow Theatre has quietly expanded beyond the village. In 2025, the Xinyi troupe performed over 120 performances, approximately a sixth of which took place in the urban area of Xining. Tourist attractions and shopping malls have become new venues for the theater.

As the Spring Festival approaches, the troupe is becoming increasingly busy, with over twenty performances scheduled. When Zhou Banghui talks about his future plans, his eyes smile and sparkle with energy: "I hope that through our performances, more people will fall in love with Hehuang Shadow Theatre."

"Living like the Chinese" has become a trend: what is the "Chinese lifestyle"?

Nightscapes of snow-covered Heilongjiang Province have garnered over 5 million likes on international short video platforms; the internet is awash with covers of classic Chinese songs performed by foreign users. Recently, the trend of "living like the Chinese" has sparked a wave of imitation of the "Chinese way of life," which is becoming increasingly visible worldwide, and China is becoming increasingly attractive to many people around the world.

The ongoing “boom for everything Chinese” is not a sudden and random phenomenon, but a natural result of a long-term accumulation of quantitative changes.

The number of foreign apps featuring Chinese miniseries on various streaming platforms has already exceeded 300; through watching series, viewers gain a vivid understanding of modern China; global sales of the Chinese video game "Black Myth: Wukong" have exceeded 28 million copies, and the story of Journey to the West has resonated widely with international players; thanks to the constant expansion of the "circle of visa-free countries," travel to China is becoming increasingly convenient, and many foreign tourists, having learned about China, fall in love with it during their visits.

The question is not why the world is “falling in love” with China, but that the real and multifaceted China itself deserves the world’s admiration.

As internet users have aptly noted, the dissemination of culture is never a condescending "imposition of culture," but rather a "cultural overflow" with sufficient cultural development and high cultural confidence. Having pierced the fog of slander and disinformation and broken the shackles of stereotypes, foreign internet users were able to directly experience China—a country that is authentic, attractive, and worthy of respect. How can one not admire China's centuries-old, outstanding traditional culture, its new and exciting technological achievements, and its safe and convenient environment?

Today, we view the world as equals and perceive it with openness and trust. While we rejoice in this, we must also clearly recognize that a long way remains to truly understand China. But rest assured, as a prosperous China attracts increasing global attention, a resonance between China and the rest of the world will inevitably emerge. Through communication and mutual understanding, Chinese culture will undoubtedly blossom more luxuriantly and richly in the garden of global civilization.
