Cairo, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) — Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atty on Sunday called for the immediate deployment of an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

He made the call during a telephone conversation with his Greek counterpart, Giorgos Gerapetritis, during which the diplomats discussed the escalating tensions in the region, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

HONG KONG, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) — The High Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Monday morning sentenced Li Zhiying, the ringleader of anti-China riots in the region, to 20 years in prison.

In December 2025, the High Court of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region found him guilty of two charges of conspiring to collaborate with foreign forces and one charge of conspiring to publish inflammatory material. The sentencing hearing for Lee Zhi-ying began on January 12 and concluded on January 13.

KUNMING, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) — The China-Laos Railway has seen steady growth in both passenger and freight traffic since its launch, providing strong support for regional connectivity and socio-economic development along its route, according to the Kunming Branch of China Railway Corporation.

The China-Laos railway, 1,035 km long, connects the Chinese city of Kunming (the capital of Yunnan Province, southwest China) and the capital of Laos, Vientiane.

As of February 2, a total of 90,000 passenger train journeys had been made on the China-Laos railway, with total passenger traffic reaching over 66.12 million. Specifically, passenger traffic on the domestic section of the railway totaled 53.95 million, while on the international section, 12.17 million.
