BEIJING, March 4 (Xinhua) — A preparatory meeting for the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) of China was held Wednesday morning at the Great Hall of the People. The presidium was elected and the agenda for the upcoming session was adopted. The session will begin on March 5.
The preparatory meeting was chaired by Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NSC).
Zhao Leji stated that all preparatory work for the annual session has been completed.
The presidium of the 4th session of the 14th NPC included 167 people, and Li Hongzhong was elected head of the session secretariat.
The agenda for the session was also approved at the preparatory meeting:
— consideration of the report on the work of the government;
— consideration of the draft of the main provisions of the 15th five-year plan for the socio-economic development of the country;
— consideration of the report on the implementation of the socio-economic development plan for 2025 and the draft socio-economic development plan for 2026, as well as the draft socio-economic development plan for 2026;
— consideration of the report on the execution of the central and local budgets for 2025 and the draft central and local budgets for 2026, as well as the draft central and local budgets for 2026;
— consideration of the proposal of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on the submission of a draft environmental code for consideration;
— consideration of the proposal of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on the submission for consideration of a draft law on promoting national unity and progress;
— consideration of the proposal of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on the submission for consideration of the draft law on national development planning;
— consideration of the report on the work of the NPC Standing Committee;
— consideration of the report on the work of the Supreme People's Court of the PRC;
— consideration of the report on the work of the Supreme People's Procuratorate of the PRC;
— consideration of the report of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress on the progress of work on systematization of legislation and on proposals for revising relevant laws and decisions.
Following the preparatory meeting, the Presidium of the Fourth Session of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC) met. Participants approved the session's schedule, which will run from March 5 to 12.
Before the start of the preparatory meeting, a meeting of the Chairman and Vice-Chairmen of the NPC Standing Committee was held.
Zhao Leji presided over both the meeting of the Presidium of the 4th Session of the 14th NPC and the meeting of the Chairman and Vice-Chairmen of the Standing Committee of the NPC. –0–
