Kinshasa, March 4 (Xinhua) — More than 200 people were killed in a mine collapse in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) on Tuesday, authorities said in a statement Wednesday.

The incident occurred at mines in the Rubaya region of North Kivu province, known for its coltan reserves, following “exceptionally heavy rainfall,” according to a statement released by the DRC Ministry of Mines.
