BEIJING, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — China's central budget has allocated a total of 1.015 billion yuan (about 142 million U.S. dollars) to help several provincial-level areas fight floods and drought, the Ministry of Finance said Tuesday.

The funds, jointly allocated by the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Water Resources, will be used to eliminate the consequences of the floods in various regions, including Beijing, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Hebei and Guangdong provinces.

YANGON, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — A signing ceremony for projects under the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund (LMCS) for 2025 was held in Myanmar's capital Naypyitaw on Tuesday, the Chinese Embassy in the country said.

The document was signed by the Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar Kou Kou Kyaw.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ma Jia said the signing of the agreement on 14 projects under the 2025 SBLM Special Fund will further promote Myanmar's development in areas such as agriculture, environmental protection, science and technology, culture, education and disaster prevention.

China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Myanmar, make good use of relevant means, and promote the building of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future so as to bring more benefits to the peoples of both countries, she added.

PHNOM PENH, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — Thailand's legal action against Cambodia on the issue of violating sovereignty by using military force is groundless, politically motivated and without foundation, Cham Soonri, State Secretary and spokesman for the Cambodian Foreign Ministry, said at a press conference on Wednesday.

According to him, such legal measures are completely baseless and represent a deliberate attempt to divert the attention of both domestic and international public opinion from Thailand's hostile policy towards Cambodia. BANGKOK, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — Acting Prime Minister of Thailand Phumtham Vechayachai has instructed relevant departments to prepare legal documents to file criminal and civil lawsuits against Cambodia at the domestic and international levels, Thirayu Huangsap, spokesman for the Prime Minister's Office, said on Tuesday.

The order was given at a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, he said. The government intends to take legal action against Cambodia, which used military force to violate Thailand's sovereignty, causing significant loss of life and property among Thai civilians and military personnel.

GUANGZHOU, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) — Seven people were missing after heavy rains triggered a landslide in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, on Wednesday morning.

The landslide occurred at around 8:30 a.m., damaging some houses in Dayuan Village in the city's Baiyun District and trapping a total of 14 people.

As of Wednesday afternoon, seven of them had been pulled out and their condition was assessed as stable, the district emergency management department reported. The search for the remaining trapped people continues.
