Pyongyang, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) — Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Friday visited the Cemetery of the Chinese People's Volunteers (CPV) in Anju, where he paid tribute to the heroes who died in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid the Korean People.
75 years ago, CPV units were sent to the DPRK to participate in military operations.
Li Qiang laid a wreath at the graves of the fallen soldiers and honored their memory with silence.
The Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China recalled that 75 years ago, the CPV crossed the Yalu River and fought side by side with North Korean soldiers and civilians for peace and justice. After two years and nine months of bloody fighting, they ultimately achieved a great victory.
"We pay our deepest respects to the fallen Chinese People's Volunteers who heroically sacrificed their lives," Li Qiang said, adding that the country and its people will never forget their immortal deeds.
He noted that in the 75 years since then, China has undergone profound historical changes, and the Chinese nation has made great strides, becoming prosperous and strong.
Under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee led by Comrade Xi Jinping, socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era and is steadily advancing towards achieving the goal set for the PRC's centenary, Li Qiang added.
According to him, under the strategic guidance of the top leaders of the two parties and two countries, the traditional friendship between China and the DPRK, sealed with blood, has been continuously strengthened and deepened, and the friendly and cooperative relations have been steadily developing.
The Premier also called for continuing to fulfill the will of the martyrs, actively carrying forward the great spirit forged in the War to Resist American Aggression and Aid the Korean People, and steadily contributing to the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
Li Qiang stated that China is ready to work with its comrades from the DPRK to further develop the traditional friendship between the two countries, strengthen practical cooperation, and jointly advance along the path of common development.
Li Qiang was accompanied by North Korean Deputy Prime Minister Chung Myung-soo at the commemorative event. Approximately 100 people attended, including all members of the Chinese delegation and staff of the Chinese Embassy in the DPRK.
