Minsk, February 2 (Xinhua) — Belarus and Brazil should more intensively build bilateral relations. This was stated by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Monday during a meeting with Brazilian Ambassador to Belarus Bernard Klingl. The corresponding information was published by the Belarusian head of state's press service.

"I think we need to approach building our relations more intensively and avoid complicating them. The economy is the foundation," A. Lukashenko noted, adding that the two countries should choose areas of economic cooperation in which they share mutual interest.

The Belarusian leader also emphasized that the views of Belarusian and Brazilian experts on issues of world order are completely aligned. "This will and does contribute to the creation of more effective relations between our countries," A. Lukashenko expressed confidence.

Following the meeting, B. Klingl stated that Brazil is interested in increasing potash fertilizer supplies from Belarus. He noted that Brazil's agriculture is rapidly developing and the country is in dire need of fertilizer supplies. "We want not only to continue supplying Belarusian potash fertilizers to Brazil, but also to increase them," the Belta news agency quoted the ambassador as saying.

According to him, the full range of bilateral cooperation was discussed during the meeting with the Belarusian leader. Regarding cooperation in the agro-industrial complex, the issue of Belarusian agricultural machinery supplies was also touched upon. "This could involve not only the supply of Belarusian agricultural machinery, but also the establishment of local production facilities in Brazil," B. Klingl added. –0–
