Islamabad, January 1 (Xinhua) — At least 14 passengers were killed and 16 others injured on Wednesday in a head-on collision between a bus and a van in Jhang district of Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, Deputy Commissioner Ali Akbar told reporters.
A bus carrying athletes from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences to a competition in Lahore collided with a van in Jhang district, he said. The official attributed the accident to excessive speed by both vehicles.
