Beijing, October 10 (Xinhua) — After a brief break, rain returned to the Chinese capital on Friday afternoon, intensifying the lingering autumn chill. Temperatures in the city reached a record low, according to the meteorological service.
As of 2:00 p.m. Friday, light rain was falling in Beijing, a light breeze was blowing, and the air was humid and cool.
Temperatures in Beijing have plummeted since the beginning of October. The maximum temperature dropped from 30 degrees Celsius on October 1 to 10.6 degrees Celsius on Thursday, the lowest recorded for the same period since 1951.
A prolonged autumn rain began on October 8th. The precipitation is forecast to cease by midnight on Friday. Temperatures on Saturday will rise to around 20 degrees Celsius.
