Dushanbe, October 10 (Xinhua) — A meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. This was reported on the website of the CIS Executive Committee on Friday.

The meeting was chaired by Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon. Also participating were Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and CIS Secretary-General Sergei Lebedev.

The Council members approved, in particular, the Cooperation Program in the Sphere of Countering Terrorism and Extremism for 2026-2028, signed the Cooperation Program of the CIS Member States in Strengthening Border Security at External Borders for 2026-2030, and the Concept of Military Cooperation until 2030.

In order to further develop cooperation in the economic sphere, a Declaration on Cooperation in Ensuring Regional Energy Security was approved at the meeting of the Council of Heads of State.

The next scheduled meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State is expected to be held in Turkmenistan in October 2026. –0–
