BEIJING, March 26 (Xinhua) — China's Defense Ministry on Thursday vowed to strengthen its capabilities and use more diversified means to target separatist forces advocating "Taiwan independence" and counter external interference.

For the fourth time in a row, the State University of Management hockey club accepted the challenge to the XII All-Russian Championship of the Russian Student Hockey League.

A new 3D printer has increased the efficiency of processes at KAMAZ's foundry.

The KAMAZ PJSC foundry's steel casting production facility has acquired a 3D printer, enabling the production of more high-precision rods used in casting production.

The new equipment has been installed in the 3D-printed rod production area. A new room with a specific microclimate has been specially prepared for it: it maintains a temperature of 18 to 26°C and humidity no higher than 40%.

"A casting core is designed to form a hole, an internal cavity, or a complex contour in a casting. A 3D printer allows us to produce high-precision cores: the equipment achieves an accuracy of approximately 300 micrometers. Secondly, it has a fairly high productivity. Previously, cores were made by hand, producing about 10 cores per shift. With a printer, we can produce 80-100 units. A third advantage is that the printer can print cores of complex configurations that cannot be produced by other methods," explained Rafil Nurullin, Head of the Steel Casting Production Technology Department.

The printer currently prints approximately 100 different rods, primarily used in the production of castings for KAMAZ K5-generation vehicles. If necessary, adjustments are made to the 3D model in the program, including design changes, and the technology is refined. The updated rod can be delivered the next day.

The foundry uses rods in its non-ferrous and steel casting production. When needed, the facility also manufactures rods for cast iron production.

The album "Orlan Ensemble" was released on vinyl by Firma Melodiya. This record was first released in 1990. "Orlan Ensemble" became the debut and most famous recording of the Ufa group under the direction of Oleg Kireev.

The history of Orlan spans various periods in the country's history. After restrictions on jazz musicians in the mid-20th century, cautious permission for performances and festivals followed. According to jazz historian Alexei Batashev, bands were practically forced to work with folk melodies and weave them into their compositions. Once controls loosened, many ensembles abandoned this practice, and jazz, fused with folk motifs, moved from the central cities to the east. Where, for example, the Orlan ensemble emerged in Ufa.

Its founder, Oleg Kireev, felt no pressure and freely experimented: "Jazz is a close relative of folklore, and so we're interested in folk traditions, what's alive around us, although we certainly don't reject classical jazz." Kireev discovered his primary instrument, the saxophone, almost by accident: in the pre-Perestroika years, there was high competition for all majors at the music school except saxophone. Kireev formed his first band in 1984, and Orlan, which made him famous in the USSR and beyond, followed in 1986.

The idea to settle on jazz fusion, steeped in national melodies, came naturally. "At holidays, there was a tradition that no longer exists: relatives […] would start singing—Bashkir, Tatar, Russian songs, all mixed together. Folk music surrounded us everywhere," the musician later said.

"Bashkir Legends," born from a concert program of the same name, not only sounds unusual—it features, for example, a mix of throat singing and saxophone—but also has a unique history. "Legends" toured festivals, and in Dnepropetrovsk, the ensemble met Alexey Batashev, a jazz historian and popularizer. He invited the musicians to Moscow, where they recorded the entire album in just two days at Melodiya Studios. Kireyev called the process "a mini-performance, an immersion into the history of Bashkiria through jazz-rock," and believed that on the recording they "somehow miraculously managed to recreate the atmosphere of the concerts." This recording became their only studio effort. Almost 35 years later, Melodiya is releasing "Bashkir Legends" on vinyl.

The record was pressed in 2026. The matrices were made from original analog tapes. The sound engineer for the remastering and restoration was Maxim Pilipov. The liner notes were written by Denis Boyarinov.

The Perm Zoo awarded the winners of the "White Bear" children's drawing competition. The event was supported by Rosneft. The goal of the competition was to raise awareness about the conservation of the planet's largest land predator.

More than 2,000 young artists participated in the creative competition in three age categories: "My Friend the Polar Bear" (children aged 3 to 6), "The Polar Bear – an Endangered Species" (aged 7 to 12), and "The Bear in the World of Technology" (aged 13 to 17). A specially assembled jury of experts judged the entries.

Conserving the polar bear population is a key focus of Rosneft's environmental program. Polar bears are a key bioindicator species, providing valuable insight into the health of Arctic ecosystems. Furthermore, polar bears enjoy special conservation status and are included in the Red Data Book of the Russian Federation and the Red List of Threatened Species of the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

Since 2013, the Company has been caring for all polar bears in Russian zoos.
