The largest oil field in the Samara region, Mukhanovsky, turned 80 years old.

Samaraneftegaz (part of Rosneft's oil and gas production complex) is celebrating 80 years since the start of development at the Mukhanovskoye field, the largest in the Samara region by reserves. Cumulative oil production at the field is approaching 200 million tons. At the current production rate, the reserves here will last for at least another 50 years.

Geological exploration near the village of Mukhanovo, located 90 kilometers from Samara, was conducted during the final years of World War II. With limited equipment and specialists available, several shallow wells were sunk to search for hydrocarbon deposits, which yielded a significant gas flow.

In November 1945, Kungur oil was extracted from exploration well No. 1 at a depth of 420 meters, with a daily flow rate of 35 tons. It turned out to be the lightest and highest-quality oil known in the Volga region at the time. In terms of gasoline yield, Kungur oil surpassed not only the deep-seated Devonian oil but also the oil from the Carboniferous Formation, the dominant formation at the time.

Intensive geological exploration at the Mukhanovskaya site led to another success: in 1952, a gushing flow of light oil was obtained from Lower Carboniferous deposits at a rate of 300 tons per day. Three years later, the oil potential of the Devonian deposits was proven, and industrial development began. The discovery of Devonian oil deposits became a crucial milestone in the development of the region's oil industry and played a significant role in the country's post-war economic recovery.

The secret to the Mukhanovskoye field's longevity lies in the accurate calculation of production rates and management, the professionalism of its employees, and the use of new technologies. Its 175 wells account for approximately 5% of the company's total production.

Geological studies of the productive strata are still ongoing. Since 2020, 10 new deposits have been discovered here.

BEIJING, December 17 (Xinhua) — From January to November 2025, 4,377 China-Europe international freight trains passed through Manzhouli Port in North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, carrying 457,000 TEUs of cargo. Beijing, December 17 (Xinhua) — Following the launch of independent customs operations throughout Hainan Province on Thursday, the southern Chinese island is poised to develop a more diversified, high-quality economic structure, according to Chinese economist Huang Hanquan.

Huang Hanquan, director of the Institute of Macroeconomic Research under the National Development and Reform Commission of China, made the comment during the latest edition of the all-media discussion program "China Economic Roundtable" organized by Xinhua News Agency.

He noted that the share of tariff items covered by the zero customs duty regime at the Hainan Free Trade Port (HFTP) will increase to approximately 70 percent, and streamlined rules will allow for the application of the duty-free regime for the processing of value-added goods.

According to Huang Hanquan, these measures are expected to significantly reduce operating costs in industries such as pharmaceuticals and high-tech manufacturing, stimulate the creation of industrial clusters and accelerate the development of new sectors including offshore wind power and commercial aerospace.

Meanwhile, the expansion of the product category under duty-free shopping for travellers and improved purchasing policies for island residents are expected to further stimulate local consumption, he added.
