At the open meeting of the Xinjiang delegation held as part of the "two sessions" on March 6 in Beijing, the following data stood out: during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Xinjiang's total foreign trade volume exceeded 200 billion, 300 billion, 400 billion, and 500 billion yuan for four consecutive years. Against the backdrop of a complex external environment, Xinjiang's deep cooperation with the five Central Asian countries serves as an important stabilizing factor and a guarantee of success in foreign trade.
Xinjiang has always placed great importance on actively accessing Central Asian markets. According to statistics from Urumqi Customs, Xinjiang's import and export volume with the five Central Asian countries reached RMB 276.69 billion in 2025, consistently exceeding RMB 270 billion and accounting for more than half of Xinjiang's total foreign trade for the third consecutive year. Xinjiang is not only a "golden corridor" connecting China with the international community but also an indispensable bridge in trade and economic cooperation between China and Central Asia.
Behind these impressive figures lies real industrial support. The quality and appeal of products labeled "Made in Xinjiang" and "Taste of Xinjiang" are steadily increasing in the Central Asian market. Leveraging its advantageous geographic proximity to Central Asia, Xinjiang's high-quality agricultural products continue to win the hearts of Central Asian consumers. The industrial sector is also demonstrating tremendous dynamism. Cooperation in production capacity between Xinjiang and Central Asian countries is evolving from simple trade exchange to the integration of production and supply chains. In 2025, Xinjiang's exports of machinery and electrical products totaled RMB 186.5 billion, an increase of 40.7% year-on-year. At the same time, exports of high-tech equipment, closely linked to new high-quality productive forces, grew by almost 70%, and exports of “three new products” (electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, solar panels), representing environmentally friendly and low-carbon development, increased by 73%.
From the textile industry, which is growing by over 20%, to the accelerating development of artificial intelligence centers, Xinjiang's industrial modernization is providing powerful support for the infrastructure construction and energy transition of Central Asian countries. Xinjiang's cooperation with Central Asia is evolving from a "corridor economy" to a deeply integrated "industrial economy." The space for cooperation between the two sides in emerging areas such as the digital economy and clean energy will further expand.
Xinjiang, with an open stance of deepening cooperation with Central Asia and connecting Eurasia, is writing a new chapter of high-quality development in the heart of the Eurasian continent.
