NEW YORK, July 29 (Xinhua) — The International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Tuesday raised its forecast for global economic growth in 2025 to 3 percent, up 0.2 percentage points from its April forecast, according to an updated version of the IMF's World Economic Outlook report.

According to the updated report, emerging market and developing economies are expected to grow by 4.1 percent in 2025, up 0.4 percentage points from the April forecast.

For countries with developed economies, the forecast has been revised upward from 1.4 percent to 1.5 percent.

In particular, expected economic growth figures have been raised for the US, the Eurozone, Japan, the UK, Canada, China, India, Brazil, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria.

As noted in the document, the large-scale upward revision of the annual forecast is due to “a more active than expected advance increase in imports in anticipation of higher customs duties; lower average tariff rates in the United States than were announced in April; improved financial conditions, including due to the weakening of the US dollar; and the expansion of fiscal stimulus measures in a number of major countries.” –0–

BISHKEK, July 29 (Xinhua) — Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a meeting in Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul region, on Tuesday, the press service of the Kyrgyz president reported.

As noted, during the meeting, the parties comprehensively examined the state and prospects of Kyrgyz-Tajik relations of friendship, good-neighborliness and cooperation.

The fruitful results of the recent exchange of state visits between the Presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan were also discussed.

BISHKEK, July 29 (Xinhua) — The annual ethnographic festival Kochkor Fest, aimed at preserving and popularizing the cultural heritage of the nomadic peoples of Central Asia, was held in the picturesque mountainous Kochkor district of Kyrgyzstan's Naryn region on Monday.

Hundreds of locals and foreign tourists gathered in the valley near Lake Son-Kul to watch traditional Kyrgyz horse games, taste national cuisine and take part in felt-making workshops.

One of the main goals of the event is to expand cultural and tourist exchanges between Kyrgyzstan and other countries.

“This festival is an important platform for demonstrating national identity and drawing attention to the regional potential in the field of tourism,” said one of the event’s organizers, representing the CBT Kochkor tourism center.

Key events at Kochkor Fest include traditional Kyrgyz sporting competitions, including the equestrian game kok-boru and horse wrestling er-enish, as well as performances by manaschi storytellers and folk dances.

BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhua) — Li Hongzhong, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), on Tuesday called on young people around the world to unite to promote peace.

Li Hongzhong, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the call at the World Youth Conference for Peace in Beijing. He also read a message from Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Li Hongzhong said that young people from all countries should join hands to safeguard peace. STOCKHOLM, July 29 (Xinhua) — The China-U.S. trade and economic teams held in-depth, frank and constructive exchanges of views on major issues of mutual interest, China's international trade negotiator and Vice Minister of Commerce Li Chenggang said in Stockholm on Tuesday.

Li Chenggang made the statement during a briefing for journalists following a new round of China-US trade and economic talks held in the Swedish capital.

According to him, both sides will continue to promote the extension of the pause in the 24 percent mirror tariffs of the American side and the countermeasures of the Chinese side.

As Li Chenggang pointed out, the two sides took into full consideration the importance of maintaining stable and healthy economic ties between China and the US, and held a sincere exchange of views on key mutual concerns in the economic and trade fields.

BEIJING, July 29 (Xinhua) — One of China's most wanted corrupt fugitives, Liang Jinwen, has returned to his home country and surrendered to authorities after 28 years on the run abroad.

Liang Jinwen, born in February 1954, was the general manager of a car brake company in Zhuhai, southern China's Guangdong Province. He is suspected of embezzlement and fled abroad in November 1996.

In December 1997, Liang Jinwen was issued a Red Notice by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol).

According to the Office for International Prosecution of Fugitives and Recovery of Illegally Acquired Assets of the Central Anti-Corruption Coordination Group, Liang Jinwen's return and surrender to the authorities was the result of the joint efforts of the disciplinary supervision and law enforcement authorities of Guangdong Province and Zhuhai City, which fully demonstrates China's firm position and determination to pursue and bring to justice every fugitive.

Liang Jinwen became the 64th suspect arrested on China's 100 most wanted fugitives, the Interpol "red notices" for corruption, and the first to flee abroad. –0–
