BEIJING, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) — China's Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday released preliminary results of anti-dumping investigations into imports of halogenated butyl rubber originating from Canada, Japan and India.

According to the statement from the Ministry of Commerce, the agency decided to stop the investigation into the import of halogenated butyl rubber from India due to its insignificant share in the Chinese import market for such products, while confirming the existence of dumping in the import of similar products from Canada and Japan.

According to the report, in accordance with preliminary decisions, importers of halogenated butyl rubber from Canada and Japan must deposit a security deposit with the Chinese customs authority, the maximum amount of which reaches 40.5 percent of the dumping margin set for companies, starting from August 14.

It should be recalled that China launched anti-dumping investigations against the named products from the above-mentioned three countries on September 14, 2024.

Halogenated butyl rubber is mainly used in the production of such products as air-tight rubber layer of tubeless tires, heat-resistant inner tubes of tires, stoppers for pharmaceutical bottles, anti-vibration pads, adhesives and sealing materials. -0-

Let us recall that the relevant investigation was initiated on September 9, 2024.

The Ministry of Commerce has come to the following preliminary conclusions: the import of rapeseed from Canada was dumping, the domestic rapeseed industry suffered material damage, and there is a cause-and-effect relationship between dumping and actual losses. In this regard, it was decided to introduce temporary anti-dumping measures in the form of security payments.

BEIJING, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) — The first China-Russia Baked Fish Cooking Invitational Competition 2025 was held in the Chinese border city of Tongjiang on Thursday. Thirteen teams from the two countries showcased their unique food culture and culinary skills, leading news portal chinanews.com reported.

Divided with the Jewish Autonomous Region of Russia by the Heilongjiang /Amur/ border river, Tongjiang has the status of a medium-sized port for Chinese-Russian waterway trade and a transshipment port for import-export cargo in the framework of multimodal transportation by river and sea. In addition, it is also famous as a “paradise of beautiful ecology” and the main place of compact residence of the Nanai people in China, for whom fish is the main traditional food product.

At the competition site, some chefs baked fish using traditional signature recipes, while others used innovative blends of seasonings and spices. The air was filled with the tantalizing aroma of grilled fish. The jury members carefully tasted each dish served, rating them on a number of criteria – from the heat treatment mode, taste sensations and aftertaste, to creative presentation and successful cultural integration.

Based on the results of the evaluations, three gold medalists, three silver medalists, four bronze medalists, and four incentive prize winners were determined.

At the event, tourists and connoisseurs of gastronomy were not only able to try the skills of culinary experts from China and Russia, but also enjoy variety performances by actors from both countries, as well as enjoy participating in lottery games and winning.

The competition organisers emphasised that the event was not only a genuine gastronomic celebration, but also a lively cultural exchange experience, during which the peoples of the two neighbouring countries were able to strengthen mutual understanding and deepen their friendship with the help of the “border-transcending language of cuisine”.

Thanks to the success of this competition, Tongjiang City plans to organize similar cultural exchange events in the field of cuisine and gastronomy on a regular basis and in diversified formats in the future. -0-
