Muscovites help collect humanitarian aid for residents of new and border regions every day, as well as essential goods and various supplies for participants in the special military operation (SVO). Many create volunteer associations in their district, inspiring neighbors, friends, colleagues and students to help together.

"There are opportunities to help participants in a special military operation, residents of new and border territories in every district of the capital. Headquarters operate in the city every day

"Moscow helps". As part of the “Summer in Moscow” project, the "Houses of Good". Muscovites participate in the collection with their entire families, work teams, and volunteer associations. Each of them inspires others with their example,” noted the director of the resource center. "Mosvolonter" Alexander Levit.

Thus, the director’s advisor on education and the head of the military-patriotic club “Challenge” School No. 1571 Sergei Kolesnikov, together with his colleague Kirill Kerimov and his brother Alexei Safonov, created a volunteer group in the fall of 2022 "Teachers to the Front"They united teachers, students and parents of several schools, as well as other concerned residents of the North-West Administrative Okrug.

How the group "Teachers to the Front" helps

Over the entire period, volunteers have delivered about 200 tons of aid — from wet wipes and towels to radios, antennas, thermal imagers and generators. Communications workers are supplied with various switches, wires, plugs, tools, and medical units with pills, first aid kits and special backpacks. Each delivery includes socks, T-shirts and underwear. Soldiers always need anti-thermal blankets and camouflage nets. Food, clothing, school supplies and toys are collected for residents of new and border regions.

"Our group started collecting aid for the fighters we knew personally. Now we receive requests from more than 10 military units. Over three years, we have organized more than 50 humanitarian aid shipments. Each of them is a small van. We never limit ourselves strictly to the request we receive, we always add something from ourselves: sweets, napkins, souvenirs. Every year we send about four thousand letters and drawings from our children to the fighters," shared Sergey Kolesnikov.

In 2023, a history teacher at School No. 1571 joined the initiative and held the “Give a Book” campaign to collect educational and fiction literature for the libraries of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.

Today, this team includes about 70 teachers and 50 parents from several schools in the North-West Administrative District, as well as over 100 children from grades 1 to 11. The ideological inspirers are responsible for the process of preparing humanitarian aid: Sergey Kolesnikov collects applications, attracts resources from other volunteer groups and public organizations. Kirill Kerimov coordinates the loading of goods and their unloading at destinations, and informs about promotions. Alexey Kerimov is responsible for delivery and logistics throughout the entire route.

The group's volunteers regularly organize volunteer events at school #1571. They also attract friendly foundations, neighboring schools, and initiative groups that include students' parents, acquaintances, and friends to help. In addition, they have organized a permanent exhibition display dedicated to helping SVO participants; they are currently preparing to open a museum. Volunteers conduct courage lessons and meetings with fighters for schoolchildren, thematic master classes, and first aid courses.

The teaching staff and the school trade union contribute to the general collection.

For their active participation in helping the participants of the SVO, Sergei, Kirill and Alexei were awarded medals "For Assistance to the Front", as well as letters of gratitude from the military commissariat of the city of Moscow.

This is high-tech equipment, including 15 innovative operating rooms, a center for gravitational blood surgery, wards with the possibility of joint stay of children and parents, play areas, cozy rest rooms and clear navigation so that treatment takes place in the most calm and friendly atmosphere. Young guests can expect a special program with bright performances and prizes. Children will be able to learn in a playful way how to take care of their health, why it is important to eat right and exercise. We hope that these tours will help children overcome their fear of doctors and form the right attitude towards their health," said Anastasia Rakova.

The tours will be held until September 11 at the address: Matrosskaya Tishina Street, Building 12a on weekdays from 2:00 PM to 6:20 PM, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:20 PM. Admission is free, bypre-registration.

"When constructing the new six-story hospital complex, we used energy-efficient technologies and modern architectural solutions. One of the main features of the facility is three glass atriums more than 30 meters high, creating a light and open space. Inside, everything was equipped with medical logistics in mind, so that diagnostic and treatment procedures will be carried out under one roof, and patients do not have to move between buildings. A helipad was placed on the roof, allowing emergency patients to be delivered," said the head of the Moscow City Civil Engineering Department.

Alexey Alexandrov.

The hospital is equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment, including computer and magnetic resonance imaging devices, as well as an angiograph. Clinical diagnostic, bacteriological and pathomorphological laboratories allow for a full range of studies for accurate diagnosis and selection of optimal treatment tactics.

In 2023–2024, the hospital's surgeons performed about 29,000 operations, including more than 4,400 endoscopic ones. For the first time in Russia, unique operations were performed here to treat congenital malformations of the bladder and compression-distraction osteosynthesis of the lower jaw.

The Children's City Clinical Hospital of St. Vladimir, founded in 1876, is one of the largest multidisciplinary children's hospitals in Moscow. ANKARA, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) — Turkey's economy grew 4.8 percent in the second quarter from a year earlier, beating market forecasts, official data showed Monday.

The Turkish Statistical Institute said the country's seasonally and calendar-adjusted gross domestic product (GDP) grew 1.6 percent from the first quarter, accelerating from a revised 2.3 percent in January-March.

According to a survey by the semi-official Anadolu Agency, annual growth in April-June was forecast at 3.87 percent. The government is targeting 4 percent growth this year and is expected to update its forecast this month.

Construction and industry were the main drivers of growth, while agriculture contracted. On the spending side, household consumption and investment supported growth, but government spending declined.

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek said the second-quarter results, which were helped by calendar effects and a low base, showed that Turkey's economic program was on track. "With the increase in annual growth and continued disinflation, the success of our program has become clear," he said in a statement.

He added that output rose in all sectors except agriculture, which was hit by frost. Manufacturing posted its best performance in three years, with high-tech production up 40 percent from a year earlier.

M. Simsek also said that Turkey's annual national income is approaching 1.5 trillion US dollars. –0–

BRUSSELS, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) — The European Union (EU) will continue to enforce its digital rules despite criticism from the United States, a senior EU official said Monday, after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to raise tariffs on countries that implement such rules.

European Commission Executive Vice-President Henna Virkkunen wrote on social media platform X that the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA) and Digital Markets Act (DMA) are "sovereign legislation" that applies to all online platforms operating in the bloc.

“DSA and DMA are our sovereign legislation,” she said, stressing that the rules are non-discriminatory and apply equally to all companies providing services in the EU.

D. Trump warned Tuesday that the United States would impose “significant additional tariffs” and export restrictions on countries that impose digital taxes or regulations against American tech giants. –0–

CARACAS, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) — Venezuela faces "the biggest threat our continent has faced in the last 100 years" as the United States increases its naval presence near the country's territorial waters, President Nicolas Maduro said Monday.

At a press conference, the Venezuelan leader called the US actions “unjustified” and “an absolutely criminal threat.”

According to the president, eight US Navy ships with 1,200 missiles and one nuclear submarine are targeting Venezuela.

The United States is exerting so-called “maximum pressure” this time by military means. In response to this, Venezuela has declared maximum readiness for defense, N. Maduro emphasized.

The president assured that Venezuela would not succumb to “blackmail and threats,” adding that his country was peace-loving but would defend its territory if attacked. He announced the launch of a nationwide program to train civilians and create a militia unit to strengthen the country’s defenses.

He rejected US accusations that the Venezuelan government was involved in drug trafficking, stressing that Venezuelan security forces had intercepted large quantities of drugs.

N. Maduro said existing channels of communication with the US government are “severed,” but Venezuela always keeps its diplomatic and dialogue channels open. –0–
