In the run-up to Oil and Gas Industry Workers' Day, employees of Rosneft enterprises are opening new infrastructure facilities and holding socially significant events in most regions of Russia. Residents of the regions where the Company operates are also actively participating in educational, environmental, cultural and sports events for oil workers.

In the Republic of Bashkortostan, in the city of Blagoveshchensk, with the support of Bashneft, a large sports and recreation complex with a total area of over 4.5 thousand square meters with a four-lane swimming pool was opened. The complex is designed for 550 visits per day. In the Tyumen Region, RN-Uvatneftegaz employees equipped a multifunctional sports ground in the Turtas school of the Uvatsky district.

Following Rosneft’s priorities in the area of environmental protection and preserving biodiversity for future generations, employees of the Company’s enterprises conduct environmental campaigns in the regions where they operate.

Employees of Taas-Yuryakh Neftegazodobycha held an environmental campaign in Yakutsk on the territory of the Druzhba Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve, and also took part in the restoration of a merchant's house, which is an example of the Siberian Baroque style.

On the main square of Nizhnevartovsk, the oil workers held a city holiday concert.

In Nefteyugansk, RN-Yuganskneftegaz organized a creative competition called "Oil Professions" for its employees, students of "Rosneft-classes", activists of the "Movement of the First" and pupils of the city Social Center. In addition, oil workers organized amateur distance competitions "Veloavgust" for everyone. During the month, participants recorded the results of their cycling training. On Oil Worker's Day, the winners will be determined and memorable awards will be presented.

Employees of the Ryazan Oil Refinery Company and Ryazannefteprodukt planted shrubs and perennials in a park in the Zheleznodorozhny district of Ryazan, which was revived with the support of oil workers. Veterans of the Ryazan Oil Refinery Company, volunteers and young residents of the city joined the action.

In the city of Syzran in the Samara Region, workers of the Syzran Oil Refinery planted 80 linden trees in memory of the Heroes of the Great Patriotic War. The enterprise also organized the traditional environmental site "With Care for Nature". Volunteers told young fellow countrymen about the animals under the care of Rosneft and held a creative master class.

Sports and commitment to a healthy lifestyle are an integral part of the professional holiday – from a friendly tug-of-war tournament among employees of Sakhalinmorneftegaz-Shelf on Sakhalin to beach volleyball in Gubkinsky among teams of the enterprises RN-Purneftegaz, Kharampurneftegaz, SevKomNeftegaz, and Purneftepererabotka. The oil workers demonstrated fortitude and team cohesion.

Employees of Rosneft subsidiaries in Krasnoyarsk Krai – RN-Vankor, Vostsibneftegaz, Slavneft-Krasnoyarskneftegaz, service and logistics enterprises – took part in the track and field race in Krasnoyarsk. For the first time, children of oil workers competed in the race. More than 150 young athletes aged 2 to 14 ran distances from 200 m to 1 km.

Sports competitions were held for the professional holiday by employees of a number of Rosneft enterprises in other regions – Udmurtneft in the Udmurt Republic, RN-Nyaganneftegaz in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra. Corporate sports tournaments were also held at oil fields: Vostsibneftegaz held them at the Yurubcheno-Tokhomskoye field in Krasnoyarsk Krai, and Tyumenneftegaz – at Russkoye in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.

In the Irkutsk region, about 200 employees of the Angarsk Petrochemical Company and representatives of other Rosneft enterprises of the Angarsk production site took part in a running festival, the route of which ran along the shore of the deepest lake in the world – Lake Baikal.

The children visited the enterprise and the plant museum, and learned first-hand about the profession of an oil worker.

Achinsk Oil Refinery held a family holiday for residents of the Privokzalny District of Achinsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai. With the participation of the plant, this largest residential area of the city was built 50 years ago. The oil refiners prepared a festive program for the city residents with sports competitions and performances by creative groups.

The workers of Novokuibyshevsk Oil Refinery held a family health festival "One Family – One Team". The festival united families of oil workers, industry veterans and residents of Novokuibyshevsk. The festival included creative workshops, family living rooms, and a sports quest with elements of the patriotic game "Zarnitsa".

Rospan International held a thematic intellectual tournament, in which 15 teams of fuel and energy companies of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug demonstrated their knowledge of the history of Novy Urengoy, which is turning 50 years old. The city grew up in the middle of the tundra and in a short time won the status of the gas capital of Russia.

The Rosneft Research and Design Institute in Tomsk held a thematic quiz on knowledge of various aspects of the oil industry – from history to modern trends.

Preservation of the culture of the indigenous peoples of the North and their traditional way of life is one of the significant areas of Rosneft's social policy. With the support of Kharampurneftegaz, competitions in national sports were held in the village of Kharampur in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The program included traditional competitions of the Forest Nenets – jumping over sleds, throwing a tynzyan on a khorey, and tug-of-war. A friendly football match was held between teams of oil workers and village residents.

In Yakutia, with the support of Taas-Yuryakh Neftegazodobycha, an ethnic festival was held at the Srednebotuobinskoye oil and gas condensate field. Oil workers got acquainted with the culture of the indigenous peoples of the North, the creativity of ethnic groups.

Cultural and patriotic events added to the atmosphere of the professional holiday. In Nyagan (Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra), veterans and young specialists honored the memory of pioneering oil workers, in Tomsk (Tomsk Region) a collective viewing of a popular science film about the professions of the industry took place, and a solemn ceremony of initiation into oil workers took place at the corporate scientific institute in Tyumen.

Samotlorneftegaz is organizing a visit to the play "Nizhnevartovsk. Oil Heart" for its employees and veteran oil workers, created at the Youth Theater with the support of the enterprise for the 60th anniversary of the discovery of the legendary field. The play tells the story of how the development of the Samotlor field and the construction of the city began.

The events organized by Rosneft enterprises in honor of Oil and Gas Industry Workers Day clearly demonstrate that the modern oil industry is not only oil and gas production and modern technologies, but also a corporate culture focused on high social responsibility, concern for the environment, support for sports, preservation of historical memory and the cultivation of patriotism.

The Company's employees contribute to the country's economy and regional development with their work. People, a team of professionals, are the main achievement of Rosneft – they ensure outstanding success and implement the largest projects in the modern industry.

Rosneft's workforces are hosting ceremonial events with the presentation of federal, industry, regional and corporate awards to the most distinguished oil workers.

China theatre was main battlefield in the East during WWII – report

Source: People's Republic of China – State Council News

BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — A think tank report released Friday confirmed that the Chinese theater was the main battlefield in the East during the World Anti-Fascist War 80 years ago.

The report, titled “Historical Retrospect, Upholding Justice – The Great Contribution of the Main Theater of War in the East to the World Anti-Fascist War,” was published in Chinese and English by the Xinhua Institute, a think tank affiliated with the news agency of the same name.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

In the expansionist plans of Japanese fascism, China was the main target for conquest. For this reason, China was the first to be attacked by Japan and suffered more than other countries. The Chinese people were also the first and most resolute to resist, thus initiating the World Anti-Fascist War and opening the first large-scale theater of war for the anti-fascist struggle in the world, the report says.

According to the report, the Chinese theater of military operations had for a long time contained and resisted the main forces of Japanese militarism, delaying and preventing not only its “northward advance” toward the Soviet Union, but also its “southward advance” toward the Pacific Ocean. This strategic containment limited and thwarted the plans for coordination between the Japanese and German fascists, playing a decisive role in the final defeat of the Japanese invaders.

From the Lugou Bridge Incident on July 7, 1937, until Japan's surrender in 1945, Chinese forces killed more than 1.5 million Japanese troops, accounting for more than 70 percent of Japan's total military losses in World War II.

After wars broke out in Europe and the Pacific, more than 20 countries and regions across Europe, Asia and Africa were subjected to fascist invasion.

China not only resisted Japan's attempts to destroy China, but also provided strategic assistance to the Allied war effort and coordinated strategic operations in both the European and Pacific theaters, the report said.

At the same time, China, as an important rear base for the allies in the Asia-Pacific region for conducting military operations against Japan, provided the allied countries with a huge amount of strategic materials and intelligence data, thereby directly supporting their operations and providing them with critical time, the report says.

In recent years, Xinhua Institute has been conducting forward-looking, strategic and preparatory research on major domestic and global issues, resulting in numerous think tank research results with wide influence. -0-

The think tank's report stresses the importance of learning from history, peaceful development and common prosperity

BEIJING, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — A report released Friday by the Xinhua Institute, a think tank under the Xinhua News Agency, proposed four major directions to help the world stay on the path of peaceful development and common prosperity by learning from history.

The report, titled “Historical Retrospect, Upholding Justice – The Great Contribution of the Main Theater of War in the East to the World Anti-Fascist War,” was published in Chinese and English by the aforementioned think tank.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.

The report proposed four key directions: maintaining and developing a correct historical view of World War II, preserving the post-war international order, defending international impartiality and justice, and promoting the creation of a community of shared destiny for mankind.

In particular, the report called for efforts to counter attempts to gloss over aggression and distort history, to present a full picture of the World Anti-Fascist War, and to understand the historical contributions of the Chinese people and peoples around the world so as to uphold and promote a correct historical view of World War II.

“For decades, the Eastern theatre has been marginalized in Western academic narratives of World War II,” the report says. “China served as a pillar of resistance to Japanese militarism, and the significant contributions, pivotal role, and enormous sacrifices of the Chinese people cannot be denied, ignored, or distorted,” the report says.

According to the report, to preserve the post-war international order, countries are called upon to defend the UN-centric international system, promote an equitable and orderly multipolar world, and advance accessible and inclusive economic globalization.

The report emphasizes the importance of promoting the building of a community of shared destiny for humanity. This requires strategic leadership from the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative.

“Reflecting on history since the World Anti-Fascist War, we have come to a profound understanding: humanity must unite for a common goal and move towards collective action to implement these global initiatives,” the report says.

Xinhua Institute, whose main activity is political research, has conducted forward-looking and strategic research on major domestic and global issues in recent years, resulting in a series of important research results. -0-

URUMQI, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) — The incoming and outgoing passenger flow at Hongshanzui Port in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region increased 65 percent year-on-year to more than 1,100 times from the beginning of this year to Sept. 3. The passenger and cargo flow through the port has reached a record high in its history.

Hongshanzui, located in Altay County, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is a seasonal checkpoint between China and Mongolia. It is located at an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level and is a first-class national land checkpoint. Hongshanzui is considered a convenient international trade channel from Xinjiang to Mongolia and Russia.

In view of the growing passenger flow, the Hongshanzui Border Guard Service, together with customs and other inspection departments, have established a joint support and cooperation mechanism, promptly adjusting the deployment of police forces and reserving sufficient police personnel, said Li Ming, an official at the service.

The border service has also strengthened emergency response training for police officers to provide quality advice and assistance to passengers, which has reduced the time it takes for passengers to fill out cards, wait for inspection and clear customs at the border crossing point, he said. -0-

Polytechnic and the Hermitage combine technologies of the past and present

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and the State Hermitage Museum present a new joint project – a series of video films “Formula of Art”.

The leading engineering university and the largest museum in Russia are long-standing partners. The cooperation began back in 2016, and at the end of 2023 it received a new impetus for development. All these years, the university and the museum have been developing and improving the engineering and security systems of the Hermitage, conducting scientific research, interacting in expert and information-analytical activities, joint public and youth projects, in the field of employment and job placement.

The new creative initiative was born as a result of mutual interest and cooperation between the press services of both institutions and has evolved into a large-scale joint project.

"The idea is to connect masterpieces of the past with the achievements of modern science," said Marianna Dyakova, Head of the SPbPU Public Relations Department. "The project is based on searching for parallels between the museum exhibits and the scientific developments of Polytechnic University scientists. For example, research in the field of lithium-ion batteries is reflected in antique mechanical watches from the museum collection. More than a dozen such interesting intersections have already been found, and work on new ideas continues."

In the first episode of Formula of Art, viewers are invited to take a journey from the Middle Ages to the present day. The subject of the research was the protective clothing of warriors five hundred years ago and now. The role of an expert on knightly armor was played by Yuri Efimov, a senior researcher at the Arsenal Department of the State Hermitage. Straight from the Knights' Hall of the Hermitage, we are transported to the Scientific and Educational Center of the Polytechnic University "Mechanical Engineering Technologies and Materials", where its director Pavel Novikov talks about modern protective equipment.

The science that the Hermitage is engaged in comprehends and organizes the past. Scientists at the Polytechnic University create technologies of the future. Our project, born out of mutual curiosity, shows that both can be equally fascinating, says Olga Eberts, Head of the Information Projects Department of the State Hermitage.

The authors plan to release new films every month. Not only the Polytechnic University staff and students, but absolutely all viewers will be able to see them on the university's information resources, immerse themselves in the atmosphere of historical halls where works of art created by great creators are kept, and feel the amazing connection of eras, the unity of age-old wisdom, talent and service to progress. The project will also be presented on the official communication channels of the State Hermitage. Placing content on the media platforms of one of the world's leading museums will allow for maximum audience reach and attract the attention of both Russian and international users.

The target audience of the project is the broadest circles of the public. It will be interesting for both children and teenagers, as well as adults who want to see familiar museum exhibits in a new light. "Formula of Art" allows you to take a new look at the connection between the past, the present and the future, – Marianna Dyakova is sure.
