The Moscow Government's Personnel Services Department has opened applications for participation in a new stream of the Moscow Government Internship project. Young professionals aged 18 to 35 are invited to begin a career in the public sector and expand their professional knowledge and skills.

"An internship is a single entry point into the large-scale system of the Moscow Government and a great chance to get acquainted with different industries, regardless of whether you have already chosen a specialty or are still searching for one. The intern's area of work does not necessarily have to coincide with the profession – here you can try yourself in different roles. We often see how guys come, discover new areas for themselves, stay in them and quickly grow in their careers together with the city team," says Tatyana Kolomiets, director of the career development center.

More than 2.5 thousand young people have already completed the internship program. Now they are successfully working in a variety of areas – from housing and communal services and urban economics to information technology and culture. At the same time, many occupy key positions in government bodies and subordinate structures.

Diversity of opportunities and flexible directions

Interns work on real projects that are used daily by millions of Muscovites.

"We not only set tasks and give feedback, but also help to reveal strengths, explain processes and support in planning a professional future. Working with young specialists is an exchange of experience and an opportunity to improve city projects together," notes Ekaterina Knyazeva, Head of the Standardization Department of the Department of Territorial Executive Authorities of the City of Moscow, curator of interns and trainees.

An internship is a full-time job with official employment and fixed wages. It lasts for six months. During this time, each participant will work in three places, choosing from nine areas.

Applications are currently open for seven of them: Social City, Legal Space, Urban Economy and Finance, Comfortable Urban Environment, Media City, HR City, and a veterinary internship in the Moscow Government. Applications for an internship in IT and Moscow transport will be available in October and November. After registration, participants will have to undergo testing, a video interview, and be assigned to specific areas.

The salary of interns varies from 27 thousand to 54 thousand rubles, and for IT positions – up to 65 thousand rubles per month, depending on the schedule and direction.

A program with a proven track record of success

The stories of the interns show what opportunities participation in the program opens up. For example, Ilya Pervushin, who now heads the renovation department at the prefecture of the North-West Administrative District, said that the internship helped him find his first job, develop communication and technical skills, and make useful professional connections. During the internship, he learned not to be afraid of new challenges and actively participated in all events. In his opinion, it is important not to be shy about asking questions and taking the initiative in order to quickly develop and gain experience.

Elena Zhuk completed an internship that became a real career lift for her. Now she is the first deputy general director of VDNKh, an expert in cultural heritage and development of public spaces. The program gave her the opportunity not only to start a career, but also to gain the necessary competencies and make a conscious choice in favor of the cultural sphere. During the six-month internship, Elena met professionals and gained valuable practical experience. She encourages people not to be afraid to try new things and use all opportunities.

About 3.2 thousand events were held by non-profit organizations (NPOs) and Moscow companies as part of "Summer in Moscow". Free educational, cultural and sports programs were held at 50 district sites of the project from June 1 to September 14 this year. City residents received even more opportunities to spend their leisure time near their homes, and business representatives were able to tell a wider audience about themselves and increase their recognition.

Participation of NGOs

This year, more than 400 socially oriented and educational NGOs joined the project. They held over 2.5 thousand different events, including inclusive ones, in different districts of Moscow.

"Non-profit organizations not only independently organized events, but also successfully integrated their initiatives into large district and city festivals. In addition, most organizations are actively involved in collecting humanitarian aid for participants in the special military operation and residents of new regions of Russia. In just two months of summer, the non-profit sector collected and delivered over 10 thousand tons of necessary items," noted Sergey Polozov, head of the project office for work with non-profit organizations at the Agency for Public Projects.

Among the events held by the NPO were a taekwondo master class by Oleg Zakharov’s martial arts school, the cultural program “Harmony of Traditions” by the Russian Community charity foundation, the inclusive creativity festival “In the Spotlight” by the ANO “Sunny Angel” Creative House, and a chess tournament by the Baytik information technology center.

"This year, the all-Russian project "Father Frost Comes to the House!" presented the show "Father Frost and Summer" as part of "Summer in Moscow". This allowed us to attract new volunteers and identify five more families for inclusion in the New Year's charity support program," said Lyubov Ershova, head of the NGO.

Participation of the business community

This year, more than 180 representatives of the business community took part in Summer in Moscow. They organized about 700 educational, sports and entertainment events. These included, for example, lectures on financial literacy by Gazprombank, a fire show by the Goritsvet Fire Theatre, and master classes on Fundamentals of Digital Security by the International Cyber School of the Future.

Thus, entrepreneur Tatyana Kokoreva held a master class on styling jewelry that popularizes Russian culture. This helped increase the recognition of her products – in just one class, a base of 37 potential clients was formed, and sales increased by 20 percent.

Entrepreneurs are increasingly becoming partners of the Summer in Moscow project

"My area"— a comprehensive program of the Mayor of Moscow for the development of the urban environment. Its goal is to create comfortable living conditions in all areas of the capital. Important components of the program are comfortable courtyards, landscaped parks and modern social infrastructure facilities located near the house.

Project "Summer in Moscow", aimed at strengthening social and family ties, became the main event of the season. This year it was held for the second time and its program became even more intense. Participants had access to a variety of cultural, leisure, sports, creative and educational events held in different areas of the city.

The project united Muscovites and guests of the capital of different ages, social groups and created conditions for obtaining new knowledge, creative growth and an active lifestyle. In addition, within its framework, a single platform for cooperation and interaction between NGOs, businesses and residents appeared.

GUANGZHOU, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) — The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has handled more than 90 million passenger trips since its opening in October 2018, according to data released by the bridge's border inspection office on Tuesday.

As of Monday, the total number of passengers entering and exiting the Zhuhai Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge had exceeded 90 million person-times, and the total number of vehicles crossing the port had exceeded 18.68 million unit-times.

According to statistics, the bridge has seen a steady increase in passenger traffic in recent years. In 2024, the total passenger traffic on the bridge reached 27 million person-times, and since the beginning of 2025, this figure has already grown by 19 percent year-on-year and exceeded 21.2 million person-times, and is projected to cross the 30 million person-times mark for the first time at the end of 2025.

The expansion of individual travel from the Chinese mainland to the Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR has significantly increased the tourist flow across the bridge. Since the beginning of 2025, more than 9.01 million tourists from the mainland have used the bridge for travel.

The bridge has significantly reduced the travel time between Hong Kong SAR and Zhuhai from three hours to only 30 minutes, making it increasingly popular among Hong Kong and Macao SAR residents for tourism, business, study and family trips. The number of passenger trips across the bridge by Hong Kong and Macao SAR residents increased from 4.5 million person-times in 2019 to 16.2 million person-times in 2024, and has already exceeded 12.7 million person-times since the beginning of 2025. This figure is expected to exceed 18 million person-times by the end of 2025.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) — On Monday, the first day of China's trial visa-free regime for Russians with ordinary passports, two international airports in the city of Shanghai in eastern China, Hongqiao Airport and Pudong Airport, received the first groups of tourists from Russia who took advantage of the preferential measures.

Ms. Garmaeva, who arrived in Shanghai on flight FM848, became the first Russian visa-free traveler to cross the border at Hongqiao Airport. She said this was her second trip to China this year. Compared with applying for a tourist visa, the visa-free policy made the trip more convenient and efficient, she said.

The Kustovs, passengers on the same flight, said they booked their plane tickets to Shanghai as soon as they learned China had introduced a visa-free regime for Russian citizens. They added that they planned to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary during their trip around the country.

Let us recall that China introduced a trial visa-free regime for Russian citizens holding regular foreign passports from September 15, 2025 to September 14, 2026.

Russian citizens holding valid regular foreign passports can visit China under a visa-free regime for the purposes of doing business, making tourist trips, visiting relatives and friends, exchanging visits, and for transit, while the period of their stay in China should not exceed 30 days, according to a statement from the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

According to statistics from the main border control service of Shanghai, 196,000 Russian tourists entered the country through this eastern Chinese metropolis in the first eight months of this year, which is 56 percent more year-on-year.

As of the end of July 2025, China has unilaterally or mutually agreed to grant visa-free entry to citizens of 75 countries. Since the beginning of this year, more than 3.644 million foreign nationals have entered China through Shanghai Port, an increase of 42.2 percent over the same period last year. Of these, 1.957 million people entered the country using the visa-free entry and 240-hour visa-free transit entry, accounting for more than 50 percent of the total number of incoming foreign tourists. -0-

NSU postgraduate students become laureates of the Novosibirsk City Hall scientific award

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Novosibirsk State University –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The register of winners of the competition for the Novosibirsk City Hall Prize in Science and Innovation in 2025 has been published. The list includes young researchers from leading universities and research institutes in the region.

Among them are representatives of Novosibirsk State University:

Alexander Novikov, 3rd year postgraduate student Faculty of Economics, NSU in the specialty "Regional and sectoral economics";

Ilya Gertsel, 1st year postgraduate student Faculty of Physics, junior researcher at the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, engineer at the Center for New Functional Materials at NSU and laboratory assistant at the SKIF Collective Use Center.

Alexander Novikov's work "Development of tools for analysis and forecasting of the carbon balance of the Novosibirsk region" is related to climate policy and sustainable development of the region.

— My scientific supervisor Anna Vladimirovna Komarova recommended me to participate in the competition. We discussed it and decided that there was a chance of passing the selection, since the research is focused specifically on the Novosibirsk region, — said Alexander.

The study began with an assessment of the carbon balance of the Novosibirsk region for the NSU Climate Center. The team led by Irina Viktorovna Filimonova analyzed greenhouse gas emissions and absorption across all sectors, which became the basis for the work of the regional government.

Next, within the framework of the RSF grant, the team studied the directions of emission reduction and proposed recommendations for energy, industry and agriculture. One of the key results was the development of a model for long-term forecasting of greenhouse gas emissions taking into account economic development scenarios.

“The joy of recognition of the results, gratitude to the supervisor and colleagues, as well as regional programs to support young scientists – that’s what I felt when I learned about the victory,” Alexander shared.

Ilya Gertsel's research paper "Development of Wear-Resistant Coating Technologies for the Oil and Gas and Energy Industries" is devoted to new methods of restoring and creating parts using laser additive manufacturing.

— For a scientific career, participation in competitions and awards is an important step. For me, the City Hall award became a starting point for future larger grants, — Ilya noted.

The young researcher is developing technologies that allow the creation and restoration of equipment elements in the oil and gas and energy industries. These are parts that must withstand aggressive environments, high loads and thousands of hours of operation. The key technology is the direct laser deposition method (Direct Metal Deposition). It allows the formation of products from metals and alloys, similar to 3D printing, but at a more complex level. Research includes the selection of material composition, laser exposure modes, analysis of the microstructure and operational properties of products.

— The work resulted in scientific publications in leading peer-reviewed journals “The Journal of The Minerals, Metals

Both laureates associate their future plans with scientific activity. Alexander Novikov is working on his PhD thesis on modeling international energy trade and is participating in a large grant from the Russian Science Foundation. Ilya Gertsel continues to develop the field of laser additive manufacturing and strives to receive his own scientific grant and lead a research group.

The victory of NSU students in the prestigious city competition confirms the high level of training of young researchers and their significant contribution to solving urgent scientific and practical problems of the region. Congratulations to the guys!

The Youth Point festival on Bolotnaya Square has ended in the capital

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Government of Moscow –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

The Youth Point festival, which brought together about 800,000 residents and guests of the capital of all ages, ended on Bolotnaya Square. It was held as part of the project "Summer in Moscow" from May 25 to September 14.

"This summer, the Youth Point festival became a center of attraction for everyone who loves creativity, sports and active recreation. More than a thousand events were organized for residents and guests of the capital: plein airs, master classes in drawing and decorative techniques, quests, sports meetings, creative classes for children and adults and much more," said

Ekaterina Dragunova, Chairman of the capital's Committee for Public Relations and Youth Policy.

From painting to roller skating

Each guest could choose an activity to their liking — from open-air painting and sketching to quilling, collage making and water painting. Participants learned to grow microgreens, paint T-shirts, weave bracelets and do much more. The festival featured free lectures by experts in the field of design and business. In addition, guests of the "Youth Point" met with representatives of the professional football club CSKA, competed in a family quest, took pictures with a large art object "Youth Cat" and took summer photos in a photo booth.

"I am very glad that such a space was opened on Bolotnaya Square. My daughter and I often come here, because this place is important for our family. It was here in 2009 that my husband and I got married. There were many different master classes at the festival: for example, we grew microgreens, danced on the rollerdrome and watched a roller skating show," shared Nadezhda Laikova, a participant of the "Youth Point" festival.

As part of the "Youth of Moscow. City of Heroes" program, open meetings and sports training with participants of the special military operation (SVO) and heroes of Russia were held at the festival site. Among them were volunteer of the "Bars" detachment Igor Nosov, combat veteran Nikolai Markushin, SVO participant Ivan Bakai and director of the military-patriotic education center "Vershina" Ivan Bondyukov.

From concerts to film screenings

Every week, the festival rollerdrome hosted discos with DJs, concerts by famous artists and young bands, open-air film screenings, and free roller skating for everyone. Mot, Tosya Chaikina, and the bands Pizza, Gradusy, Room of Culture, and Ay Yola performed on the big stage.

On the Day of the State Flag of the Russian Federation, visitors saw a performance by the Toloka ensemble with Russian folk songs collected during ethnographic expeditions. Everyone could join creative master classes and classes in various types of choreography at the ballroom dancing evening, and a roller skating show was arranged for guests at the roller disco.

The stage also brought together participants of the creative camp "Youth of Moscow" for the final gala concert. The program included musical numbers, choreographic productions and stage compositions created under the guidance of professional teachers and producers.

The live music evenings “Non-classical Classics”, the concert of the Nella Musica Orchestra symphony orchestra, and the film music festival “Soundtrack” were especially popular with the guests. All of them were held in the open air.

"I liked the master classes with a rich program, especially interested in the gamers' zone with table football and ping-pong. The most vivid impression was the concert of the Nella Musica Orchestra symphony orchestra: live classical music in the open air created a very special atmosphere. Thank you for the opportunity to spend such a rich summer," said Nikita Zelenin, a participant of the Molodezhnaya Tochka festival.

Open training sessions, board games and speed dating were held on the veranda of the main festival pavilion. A special program dedicated to yoga and mindfulness practice was also organized here. Guests trained in the open air and learned breathing techniques. The classes became part of a performance show accompanied by musical instruments.

Holidays on Bolotnaya Square

Bolotnaya Square became the main venue for the Youth Day festival on June 28 and 29. Guests could join morning exercises, bike training, master classes, lectures and meetings with popular bloggers. The festival also featured dance flash mobs, creative processions, performances by young artists and the Moscow Youth Cup in KVN.

In addition, the Youth Point festival hosted events dedicated to significant state and city holidays. On Children's Day, Russia Day, Russian National Flag Day and Moscow City Day, thematic programs were organized for residents and guests of the capital. The festival ended with a large student disco and a concert featuring Antokha MC, DJ Groove, DJ Calypso, and singer Hanna.

The Youth Point festival was organized by the Moscow Youth project Committee on Public Relations and Youth Policy.
