Specialists from Moscow's Urban Services Complex renovated 110 residential buildings with gables during the capital repair program for the housing stock. They paid special attention to preserving the buildings' historical and cultural heritage: they created unique construction plans and selected the most suitable modern domestic materials and technologies.

A pediment is a classic element of ancient architecture, a decorative and structural detail found on hundreds of buildings in Moscow. It most often appears as a triangular, or less commonly, semicircular, crowning of the façade.

House on Malaya Gruzinskaya Street

This striking and distinctive building with a pedimented façade is located in the center of the capital on Malaya Gruzinskaya Street (building 34). In 2023, a major renovation was completed. Specialists renovated the façade, roof, and basement, and replaced several utility systems.

This five-story residential building was built in 1908 according to a custom design in the neoclassical style. It attracts the attention of local historians and tourists. The lower part of the main façade is separated from the upper interfloor band, and the second floor is accented with rustication. The upper floors are decorated with pilasters and various window frames. The façade is topped with a cornice and a triangular pediment.

Specialists cleaned and washed the façade, repaired the plaster, and treated wet areas with a biocidal solution. Each element of the architectural decor was carefully fragmented and painted. Cutting-edge laser scanning technology was used to recreate the stucco with utmost precision.

The historic building's façade was plastered and painted in original shades of creamy white and trisetum. Then, the old windows in the common areas were replaced with new plastic ones, the door jambs, drip caps, and downspouts were repaired, and beautiful modern entrances were installed. The old roof was dismantled, the outdated covering was replaced with a new one, rafters were installed, and the sheathing was replaced. The attic was adjusted to the correct temperature and humidity conditions, the basement was renovated, and the drainage lines, central heating, and hot and cold water supply systems were updated.

House on Main Street

In 2024, a unique three-story building with a pediment, located in the Vostochny settlement on Main Street (building 11), was transformed in the east of the capital. Specialists restored its façade.

The Vostochny settlement was built for the employees of the waterworks, which supplied Moscow with water from the Volga River. The residential building was constructed in 1955 according to a custom design in the Soviet neoclassical style. The building's facades are clad in ceramic tiles. The entrances to the main facades are decorated with profiled portals located on the centerline of the gables. A striking feature of the building is the wide, multi-profile crowning cornice, decorated with a frieze and brackets with a floral motif.

For the convenience of residents, the work was divided into several stages. First, the surfaces were washed to remove accumulated dirt and a modern antifungal treatment was applied to wet areas. Next, localized repairs to the brickwork were carried out, followed by hydrophobization. This advanced technology reliably protects the façade from the negative effects of precipitation. Decorative elements, including the crowning cornice above the building's pediment, were painted to match the color scheme. Additionally, windows in common areas were replaced, the baseboard and downspouts were renovated, and the entrances were repaired.

House on Panfilovsky Lane

This year, specialists from the Moscow Capital Repairs Fund are completing renovation work on a five-story building with gables on Panfilovsky Lane (Building 1/16, Bldg. 1). Here, decorative gables have been added at the ground floor level.

The residential building was built in 1946 according to a custom design. The architectural design incorporates elements of constructivism and neoclassicism. The main façades feature bay windows with Art Nouveau-style crown moldings. The ground floor is accented with rustication. The spaces between windows are filled with Ionic panels, and the window openings are accented with architraves. The entrances are decorated with pediments and multi-profile portals, and the fifth-floor cornice is accented with a wide band. A crowning cornice completes the building.

By the end of the year, 15 buildings with dentils on their crowning cornices will be renovated in the capital.Residential buildings featured in famous films are being renovated in the capital.

First, specialists cleaned the building's walls and repaired the plaster. Then, they repaired the brickwork, and treated wet areas with an antiseptic. Extensive work was done to preserve the architectural decor. The façade was then painted, preserving the historical color scheme, in shades of "sandal beige" and "signal white." Currently, specialists are repairing the entrances, replacing the drainage system and drip caps, and applying a layer of plaster to the base of the building's façade.

Bullying at School: What Should Parents Do if Their Child is Being Bullied?

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Moscow Government –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

School is an important part of every child's life. It's where they not only gain knowledge but also learn how to interact with adults and peers. Pranks, friendships, and arguments are part of social interaction, but sometimes harmless games escalate into bullying. Any child can experience bullying, whether in elementary, middle, or high school.

Bullying is persistent and deliberate psychological violence or physical aggression against a weaker person. It's impossible for a child to cope with it alone; adult support is essential. The head of the City Reconciliation Service at the City Psychological and Pedagogical Center explains how to distinguish bullying from conflicts between children and what parents should do when classmates bully their child. Department of Education and Science of the City of Moscow Anton Konovalov.

How is bullying different from conflict?

Bullying shouldn't be confused with occasional conflicts between kids. A conflict or argument is a spontaneous and unintentional display of emotion, usually short-lived, in which the opponents are equally powerful. In such situations, children can often find a way out on their own: they can let off steam, yell at each other, and then quickly make up.

Conflicts with peers are an inevitable part of growing up, as children explore the world, learn to communicate, and assert their boundaries. They are temporary emotional clashes of interests or disagreements between equal parties. Adults need to explain to children that conflicts happen and teach them how to resolve them constructively. Anton Konovalov, Head of the City Reconciliation Service at the City Psychological and Pedagogical Center of the Moscow Department of Education and Science

It's important for parents not to see every minor argument as a sign of bullying. Avoid starting a conversation with a child, for example, by asking, "Who bullied you at school today?" This can create anxiety and a feeling that everyone around them is inherently hostile.

"Bullying is systematic aggression against one student by another or a group. The perceived victim is unable to resist such behavior—the forces are unequal. One of the hallmarks of bullying is its prolonged nature," the expert notes.

Another clear sign of bullying is the deliberate infliction of pain and harm, as well as devaluation of the individual. The bully and those who support them show no remorse or ask for forgiveness; in their worldview, such behavior is perceived as normal. For example, they may deliberately call a classmate a derogatory name.

More serious and personally traumatic forms of bullying include ostracism, ridicule, humiliation, threats, spreading rumors, damaging backpacks, clothing, and other belongings, kicking, pushing, and physical abuse. Negative emotions are experienced by both the victim and the children who witness the bullying but, for various reasons, are unable to intervene.

Detailed information on how children, parents, and teachers should behave can be found on the project page. Together Against Bullying Moscow's Social Development Complex. The online project is available in the "Mental Health" section of the website. School. Moscow.

How to understand that a child is being bullied

Problems at school can only be identified by maintaining a good and trusting relationship with the child.

"Ask them not only about their academic performance but also about the atmosphere in the classroom. Sometimes a child may not even realize they're being bullied, believing it's their own fault that no one is friends with them. Pay attention to their behavior and relationships with their peers. If they find excuses to skip classes, constantly "lose" things, or don't interact with friends, these could be signs of bullying," says the expert.

It's important not to leave a child alone with this problem, as they don't always have the strength to fight back or ignore the bully. Bullying leaves its mark on a child and has psychological consequences. They may grow up withdrawn, distrustful, and low in self-esteem, becoming accustomed to violence, believing it to be acceptable. They may also become bullies themselves in adult settings, such as at work or in family relationships. It's important to address bullying at its inception, preventing the child from becoming immersed in a traumatic situation.

What to do if your child is being bullied by his peers

Adults should not attempt to resolve conflicts with bullies or their parents on their own—emotional statements in person or arguments in parental chats will only make the situation worse.

"Parents should first contact their homeroom teacher. They know the students' relationships and can positively influence the situation, and if necessary, involve a teacher-psychologist and the school mediation service," says Anton Konovalov.

Today school reconciliation services operate in 497 educational institutions in Moscow. They help build mutual understanding in the classroom, develop positive communication skills, and resolve conflicts and disputes peacefully.

At the School Reconciliation Service, not only school teachers and psychologists but also students over 14 years old volunteer as mediators. Students interested in becoming mediators can contact their school psychologist or the service supervisor at their school. The specialist will refer the teenager to training as a volunteer for the School Reconciliation Service and invite them to join the "Friendship Dialogue" club, which already unites over 200 Moscow schoolchildren.

You can learn more about the work of school reconciliation services on the website city reconciliation service The City Psychological and Pedagogical Center of the Moscow Department of Education and Science will also help resolve the bullying situation. territorial offices City Psychological and Pedagogical Centers are located in all administrative districts of the capital.

"Psychologists and teachers will talk with the student and their parents. If bullying is indeed the case, they will immediately contact the school administration. The principal and the psychological and pedagogical service, including the school for reconciliation, will begin working with the class and individually with those involved in the bullying. If it's a routine conflict, specialists will explain how to resolve such situations and suggest specific exercises, such as those for developing communication skills. You can schedule a consultation with a psychologist through the mos.ru portal," explains Anton Konovalov.

In addition, support can be obtained remotelyby writing to a psychologist in the chat on the website "WeAreNear.online" or by calling the helpline: 7 800 200-01-22 (short number for calls from mobile phones – 124).

What kind of children are bullied?

Anyone can become a target of bullying: a shy, straight-A student, a social activist, a troublemaker, or a struggling student. The same child may feel like an outcast in one school and become part of the community in another.

Aggressors come from a wide variety of backgrounds, as the process of personality development is always multifaceted.

"Parents, society, and personality—all these factors play a role. But all bullies share one thing: a desire for ostentatious superiority and dominance over those who cannot resist them. This behavior is based on perceiving others as objects, tools for personal gain or entertainment. This, from the bully's perspective, justifies cruelty and humiliation," explains Anton Konovalov.

Whether the bullying continues depends on the reaction of the victim, the people around them, and the group in which the situation arose. If the child ignores the teasing, turns it into a joke, or is able to fight back, the bullying gradually subsides. Bullying can also be stopped by a clear negative reaction from the group.

Bullying is an unequal struggle. The bully often enlists the support of allies or bystanders. Classmates may either actively encourage their actions or remain indifferent bystanders, tacitly acquiescing to the aggression.

The best way to prevent bullying is to create a healthy psychological atmosphere within the group. In such an environment, bullying is impossible: the perpetrator will be immediately made aware that such behavior is unacceptable and that problems must be resolved in a different way. The main task is to instill the right values in children, and this responsibility lies with adults—teachers and parents, Anton Konovalov believes.

Should I transfer my child to another school?

Whether to transfer to another class or school, or to stay and try to overcome bullying is always a difficult decision, and it remains with the child's parents or legal guardians.

It's important not only to stop bullying but also to ensure that those who initiate it acknowledge their guilt. Working with psychologists and school reconciliation services often helps bullies repent of their behavior. Only then will the target of the bullying feel safe and be able to mend fences with their former bullies. In such cases, a transfer to another school is usually not necessary.

If the bullying has stopped, but the victim hasn't received any compensation in the form of an apology or compensation, the problem isn't fully resolved. The child will be stressed, anticipating further attacks. Furthermore, building healthy relationships with peers who haven't admitted their guilt is unlikely.

Parents should work with their child through the entire anti-bullying journey. After all, their child may encounter similar situations in adulthood, and their school experience will teach them to maintain self-esteem and stand up for their rights when confronted with conflict.

The City Psychological and Pedagogical Center provides psychological, pedagogical, and social support to children experiencing difficulties mastering basic general educational programs, developing and adapting to society, as well as to children with disabilities. The center employs approximately 800 people, over 500 of whom are support specialists (psychologists, special education teachers, and speech therapists).

The center's branches are located in 10 districts of the capital at 29 locations. More than 25,000 children receive assistance there annually.

A museum in an opera, an opera in a museum. What will the joint project of the Novaya Opera and MMOMA be like?

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Moscow Government – Moscow Government –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Kultura Moskvy attended a press conference dedicated to the opening of the joint project "Museum in the Opera / Opera in the Museum" Moscow Theatre "New Opera" named after E.V. Kolobov And Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA).

"We wanted to create something that Yevgeny Vladimirovich Kolobov would have enjoyed. And I think that, had life turned out differently, he would probably have happily participated in this as a musician and as the creator of a new opera house," noted Anton Getman, director of the Novaya Opera Theatre.

Kolobov – a reformer of musical theatre

Evgeny Kolobov founded the Novaya Opera when he was 45 years old. By then, he had worked at several of the USSR's largest theaters, served as artistic director of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Musical Theater, and had numerous opera productions under his belt, along with an endless desire to make opera more contemporary.

The Novaya Opera we know today is a theater that preserves everything its founder brought to opera. Experimentation is ingrained in the theater's very DNA, which is why it incorporates so many lab-style formats. It also provides young performers with the opportunity to stage productions. Three years ago, the Moscow Ballet Company joined the Novaya Opera, providing it with the necessary conditions for the continuous creative exploration of a new choreographic language.

"Yevgeny Vladimirovich tried to break with the traditional approach and attitude toward opera in general and opera in particular. The evidence we collected consistently pointed to this: both his productions and his bold, courageous approaches to scores that had been considered untouchable for many years. It became clear that Yevgeny Kolobov wanted to make opera contemporary, so that it wouldn't be perceived as conservative, sometimes boring, or tedious. And we began to develop this idea. I believe Yevgeny Vladimirovich truly spent his entire life, starting in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg), trying to make opera a contemporary art form," reflects Anton Getman.

It's no surprise that in the year of Evgeny Kolobov's 80th birthday, the theater, together with the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, launched the "Museum in the Opera/Opera in the Museum" project, bringing together various art forms, theatrical practices, and perspectives on what constitutes modernity in musical theater.

The project opened with a multimedia interpretation of Pascal Dusapin's opera "Passion" performed by Teodor Currentzis, musicAeterna and musicAeterna Dance.

MMOMA and Evgeny Kolobov

Perhaps for the first time in Russia, a musical theater and a museum have teamed up as equal creators in a single project. What's particularly surprising is the Moscow Museum of Modern Art. The museum is no stranger to collaborating with theater: it has previously collaborated with GITIS students, with various theater festivals, and with entire exhibitions organized according to theatrical logic ("Dress Rehearsal," 2018), as well as creatively combining key episodes from the history of the famous Moscow drama theater with specially created installations by contemporary artists ("Sovremennik. Beginning," 2021).

The museum continues its collaboration with the theater. In March 2026, the Moscow Museum of Modern Art will open an opera exhibition, "Boris Godunov," in its building on Petrovka Street.

"The project unfolds within the creative tension between theater and museum, ritual and object, the ephemeral and the material. It's a dialogue. Drawing on the unique experiences of Evgeny Kolobov, founder of the Novaya Opera, and Zurab Tsereteli, founder of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, the participants reflect on a new synthesis of the arts, a new language that speaks to our era. Of course, this is an experiment for the entire curatorial team and the artists. Synthesis of the arts has always been born in periods of radical technological change and heightened spiritual quests. And now, when generative AI is beginning to transform our lives, it's important to form a holistic picture of reality—to cultivate a truly symphonic mindset," says Andrey Egorov, Deputy Director for Research at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art.

According to Georgy Nikich, co-curator of the opera exhibition "Boris Godunov" with Viktor Misiano, the project combines many layers: "Anyone who has visited natural science museums has likely seen these wonderful cross-sections of the soil. Many, many different layers. And this multi-layeredness gives us the opportunity to re-evaluate not only the Time of Troubles, not only Boris Godunov, not only our attitude toward all these different layers, but most importantly—toward the present day. And that's why we invite contemporary artists."

The full list of exhibition participants will be announced later, but it is already known that Alexey Tregubov is among them.

To remember and understand, you need to explain

As part of the project, a series of discussions, "In Between," will begin in the winter of 2026. The first meeting—a conversation titled "Unknown Kolobov: A Reformer of Opera, Musical Score, and Everything Around Him"—will take place before the opening of the Epiphany Festival and will be dedicated to the maestro's memory.

"We're opening the Epiphany Festival with a new production of 'The Tsar's Bride.' Before the performance, we'll be holding a discussion. The speakers we've invited will share their experiences working with Evgeny Kolobov. These are creative people who collaborated with him as directors, artists, and musicians," says Anton Getman.

This will be followed by lectures and discussions on the essence of the theatricalization of the museum today, and on contemporary opera reformers.

The project is supported by the Vladimir Potanin Charitable Foundation as part of the Museum Without Borders grant program. It received support as an example of bold cultural expression that bridges various disciplines, institutions, and artistic languages.

The owner of a shopping center located in the Sokolinaya Gora district near the Semyonovskaya metro station regularly supports Special Military Operations (SVO) soldiers undergoing treatment at the P.V. Mandryka Central Military Clinical Hospital. He also participates in collecting humanitarian aid for soldiers on the front lines.

"We work on demand; we don't create our own selection, but rather select exactly what's needed. We assemble humanitarian parcels for shipment, and then some are received by special operations forces directly in hot spots, while others are donated to hospitals," a shopping center representative explained.

Military personnel are sent tea, coffee, water and instant drinks, as well as long-life food products, chocolate and candy.

In honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day and Victory Day, the team is putting together gift sets for special operations participants and World War II veterans from the Eastern Administrative District.

Targeted assistance is provided not only to military personnel but also to their families. For example, when one of the SVO soldiers serving on the front lines became a father, his child received a crib, stroller, diapers, baby food, and clothing.

In addition, the owner of the shopping center is compiling and transferring humanitarian aid for residents of new and border regions to one of the headquarters Moscow is helping, which are open in various districts of the capital. Residents also brought gifts for military personnel to the "Houses of Kindness" at the Moscow Seasons events.

More than 61,000 units of aid were donated by city residents to the Moscow Helps headquarters. How volunteers collect humanitarian aid for residents of new and border regions

Since the first days of the special operation, Moscow restaurateurs, owners of Moscow stores, shopping centers, car dealerships, and other service providers have been regularly sending humanitarian aid to the war zone. The parcels contain long-life products: canned meat, fish, and vegetables, cereals, pasta, as well as sweets—cookies, candies, chocolate, and much more.

Entrepreneurs donate personal hygiene products, medications, and seasonal clothing, such as jackets, boots, and thermal underwear. They also collect construction materials and military equipment, including quadcopters and vehicle convoys, for the SVO participants.

Students from the Moscow Police College, as part of the Moscow team "Shield and Sword 77," took prizes in the individual categories of the all-Russian military-patriotic game "Zarnitsa 2.0." This was reported by the press service of the Moscow Police College. Department of Education and ScienceThe final stage of the competition took place from September 5 to 23 in the Volgograd region at the Avangard camp.

Igor Ivanov and Ksenia Napletkova took first place in the UAV operator category, Pavel Kashtanov took second place in the sapper category, and Konstantin Chebotar took third place in the commander category.

Additionally, as part of the "Oka" army, the participants won the game's final battle, beating out nearly 500 young men and women from the older age group (including departmental and foreign teams). Moscow was represented by the "Zhukov Guard" team from School No. 1409. The team's training was supervised by Ivan Bondyukov, a supplementary education teacher, director of the "Vershina" military-patriotic education center, and a participant in the special military operation.

"We prepared for the game long and hard, approaching every stage seriously and training diligently. The guys probably found the most challenging work with unmanned aerial vehicles the most challenging—it's a fairly new and specific area. Furthermore, passing the tactical medical tests was challenging: navigating the battlefield and providing appropriate assistance in yellow, green, and red zones. But the more we trained, the better we got. The commander strategized effectively, and each participant gave their all, performing their actions precisely and smoothly," said Ivan Bondyukov.

This year, over 20,000 Muscovites took part in the all-Russian military-patriotic game "Zarnitsa 2.0," competing in four age categories. For the first time, a special category was added for college students aged 18 to 21.

To reach the finals, teams had to overcome several stages: qualifying, municipal, regional, district, and national. At each stage, participants demonstrated drill, firearms, and tactical training, first aid skills, knowledge of Russian history, and athletic prowess.

The finalists competed in tactical medicine, firearms training, radiation, chemical, and biological defense, and other disciplines. Each participant completed tasks in their chosen specialty—from medic and commander to war correspondent and drone operator.

In addition, a special program was organized for the children, which included meetings with Russian heroes, excursions, and film screenings dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory.

"Zarnitsa 2.0" is the flagship project of the "Movement of the First," which helps young people learn the fundamentals of military affairs and master modern digital technologies. Other organizers include the "Yunarmiya" movement, the "Voin" center for military-sports training and patriotic education of youth, and the All-Russian Student Rescue Corps.
