Tbilisi, December 24 (Xinhua) — Georgia prioritizes developing tourism and economic cooperation with China, viewing China as a key "long-distance" country. Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili stated this Wednesday at the session "Trade, Investment, and Sustainable Development in the Context of Global Challenges" during the annual ambassadors' conference in Tbilisi.

SEOUL, December 24 (Xinhua) — The Republic of Korea (ROK) recently conducted closed "defensive exercises near the Dokdo Islands (Japanese name Takeshima) in the Sea of Japan," prompting protests from Japan, the Renhap News Agency reported on Wednesday.

KUNMING, December 25 (Xinhua) — A sudden gas outburst occurred at a coal mine in Zhenxiong County, southwest China's Yunnan Province, around 6:00 p.m. local time on Wednesday evening, local authorities reported Thursday.

Minsk, December 24 (Xinhua) — The deployment of the Oreshnik missile system in Belarus will not affect the balance of power in Europe, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin stated, media reported on Wednesday.

According to V. Khrenin, it's essential to ensure the peace of mind of Belarusian citizens, and the deployment of the Oreshnik missile system is the country's response to aggressive actions by the West. "So that they understand that if they interfere with us, they will suffer unacceptable damage. That's what it's intended for," the minister emphasized.

He expressed confidence that deliveries of the Oreshnik missile system to Belarus would not affect the balance of power in Europe. "We don't even believe it should affect the balance of forces and resources in Europe. This is a system aimed at strategic deterrence," the head of the Belarusian defense ministry noted.
