“We do not rule out the possibility of holding such a meeting,” TASS quotes him as saying.

BEIJING, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) — A China Coast Guard (CCG) official said Monday it has displaced a Japanese fishing boat that illegally entered China's territorial waters near the Diaoyu Islands.

The BOC ships took necessary control measures in accordance with the law, issued warnings and forced the Japanese vessel to leave China's territorial waters after it illegally entered the above-mentioned waters between August 1 and 4, said Gan Yu, a spokesman for the department.

He stressed that Diaoyu and its adjacent islands are China's original territory and called on the Japanese side to immediately stop all illegal activities in these waters.

Moscow, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) — There is no talk of nuclear escalation now, but rather an emotional perception of the situation, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing on Monday, commenting on the emotional statements made in recent days.

"We do not believe that we are talking about any escalation now. It is clear that very complex, very sensitive substances are being discussed, which, of course, are perceived by many in a very emotional way," D. WASHINGTON, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump said Sunday that two nuclear submarines have arrived "where they are supposed to be," two days after he ordered their deployment.

“I have already made a statement, and the answer is: they are in the region… where they should be,” the American president said.

D. Trump said on his social network Truth Social on Friday that he ordered the deployment of two nuclear submarines “in the appropriate regions” after his spat with Dmitry Medvedev, the former Russian president and deputy chairman of the Russian Security Council.

On July 28, Trump shortened the time given to Moscow to end the conflict with Ukraine to “10 or 12 days” from the original 50-day deadline, citing frustration with Moscow’s “unwillingness to compromise.”

VILNIUS, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) — Lithuanian Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas resigned from his post on Monday, triggering the automatic resignation of the entire cabinet.

G. Paluckas confirmed his decision at an emergency government meeting on Monday morning, the Baltic News Service reported.

“Having made the decision to resign from the post of Prime Minister, I announce the resignation of the nineteenth government of Lithuania,” G. Paluckas announced at the beginning of the meeting.

He added that he would formally submit his resignation to President Gitanas Nausėda later on Monday and expressed gratitude to his ministers for their cooperation.

According to Lithuanian law, the president must be informed of the prime minister's resignation on the same day. Nausėda is now expected to accept the resignation by signing a decree and instruct the outgoing government to temporarily act until a new cabinet is appointed. The president will also have to appoint an acting prime minister.

Within no more than 15 days, G. Nausėda will have to submit a candidate for prime minister to the Saeima (parliament). URUMQI, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) — Customs at Tianshan Airport in Urumqi, northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, handled more than 835,000 pieces of incoming and outgoing mail in the first half of 2025, up 354.5 percent year on year.

According to the customs office, over 824,000 postal parcels were sent overseas from Urumqi in the first six months, up 374.6 percent year-on-year. Meanwhile, the volume of postal parcels incoming from overseas to Urumqi reached 11,400 units (up 11.5 percent).

During the specified period of time, mainly essential goods and light industry products were sent abroad by mail from Urumqi; they mainly entered the Kazakhstan market.
