Moscow, December 26 (Xinhua) — Over the past 10 years, tuberculosis mortality in Russia has decreased sevenfold, and the incidence rate has fallen 3.5-fold. This was announced on Thursday by Irina Vasilyeva, Director of the National Medical Research Center for Phthisiopulmonology and Infectious Diseases in Moscow, according to the press service of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

During an open meeting of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Scientific Council "Life Sciences," I. Vasilyeva highlighted Russian advances in tuberculosis prevention and treatment, such as the recombinant allergen "Diaskintest" for diagnostics, which has been implemented globally, and a personalized approach to treatment based on drug resistance testing. She also presented the latest Russian advances in the diagnosis and treatment of this disease, namely, an automated system for rapid diagnosis of tuberculosis resistance and new types of drugs.

According to Atajan Ergeshov, Director of the Central Tuberculosis Research Institute, Russia's rapid tuberculosis diagnostic coverage (93%) exceeds the global and European averages. Among the remaining challenges in treating the disease, he cited the high proportion of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB), which accounts for 36 percent of new cases, and the co-infection of TB and HIV, which accounts for 25 percent of patients.

Moscow, December 26 (Xinhua) — Russian and American leaders have already discussed the results of the meeting between Russian Presidential Envoy Kirill Dmitriev, US Presidential Envoy Steven Witkoff, and the US president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, in Miami. The parties agreed to continue dialogue on the Ukrainian settlement, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov announced at a briefing on Friday.

"On the instructions of President Putin, contact took place between representatives of the Russian and US administrations," TASS quotes the Kremlin spokesman as saying.

According to D. Peskov, the Russian side was represented during the telephone conversation by Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov. The US side, he said, was represented by several interlocutors. However, the Russian leader's press secretary declined to disclose the details of the conversation. "I can't tell you that. There was a telephone contact, and we decided to continue the dialogue. That's all we can say," he said.

The Kremlin spokesman also declined to comment on the document that K. Dmitriev brought back after the Miami talks. "We continue to believe that disseminating this information at this time could negatively impact the negotiation process," D. Peskov noted.

Minsk, December 26 (Xinhua) — The situation in Belarus's western region can be described as tense, prone to radicalization, and difficult. Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin stated this in an interview with the Belarusian television channel "First Information" on Friday.

According to him, in Belarus, this assessment is based on the actions of the leaderships of neighboring countries, who refuse to understand the need to reduce military tensions, especially in the information sphere. "The actions of the leaderships of neighboring countries indicate, and they don't hide it, that preparations for war are underway. They are threatened by Russia, and of course, that includes Belarus. We have a Union State, and they will fight us," V. Khrenin stated.

He recalled statements by the Polish and German leaderships about their desire to build powerful armies. Similar statements were made by the French leadership. "The Baltic countries, with their aggressive leadership, are not far behind. They are acting within the allocated funds—more than 5% of GDP, which already indicates that this is a pre-war budget. Therefore, we believe these are not empty words, not some kind of bluff from these politicians," V. Khrenin emphasized.

The Belarusian Defense Minister also emphasized the preparation of infrastructure in neighboring countries, the number of various exercises and training sessions, the modernization of seaports for the delivery of weapons, airfields for aircraft, the development of artillery, and the creation of new divisions. NATO troops' forward presence in countries neighboring Belarus has also been strengthened as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve.

He also drew attention to the weapons these countries are purchasing in large quantities, spending enormous amounts of money. "The question arises: what is all this for? They are preparing in advance for military action, that is, for war. Various timeframes are being mentioned. We've heard them in the media, too," explained V. Khrenin.

"We don't intend to be aggressive, we don't view anyone as an enemy, but we are saying that we will defend our country if someone wants to resolve issues through military force," the Belarusian Defense Minister emphasized, noting the good level of interaction within the framework of military-technical cooperation with Russia and a willingness to engage in dialogue with Western countries.

Moscow Transport has completed large-scale New Year's decoration of its infrastructure and rolling stock.

Translation. Region: Russian Federation –

In anticipation of the New Year 2026, at the direction of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the Department of Transport and the Moscow Metro State Unitary Enterprise completed the festive decoration program for the city's transportation system. The complex of events is aimed at creating a festive atmosphere for passengers and covers the metro, ground-level public transportation, and service facilities.

Over 150 artificial Christmas trees have been installed at more than 40 metro stations, 15 MCC stations, eight MCD stations, and five bus stations across the metro and railway stations. Neon signs and garlands have been placed on the facades and in the entrance halls of six metro stations (Chistye Prudy, Ploshchad Revolyutsii, Baumanskaya, Arbatskaya, Taganskaya, and Rizhskaya) and the Kutuzovskaya station on the Moscow Central Circle. Thematic light installations have been installed at Krasnye Vorota (light arch), Semyonovskaya (the "Gifts" installation), and in the escalator gallery of Vorobyovy Gory station (100 suspended elements). 24 themed trains (Rusich, Oka, Moscow-2019, Moscow-2020, and Numbered trains) have been launched on 11 metro lines.

Moreover, the facades of the metro administrative building at Prospekt Mira station, the Varshavskoye electric depot, and the Advanced Development Center in the Kuntsevo district were decorated.

A total of 230 ground transportation vehicles will be decorated in festive style, including 50 electric buses, 60 Vityaz-Moscow trams, and, for the first time, two autonomous Lvenok-Moscow trams on routes T1 and 5. Over 600 festive posters have been placed at bus stops throughout the city, and 115 buses have received themed wraps. The Okhotny Ryad metro stop on Tverskaya Street has been decorated especially.

"Following Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin's instructions, we're gradually decorating public transportation and infrastructure for the New Year. We're placing installations at metro stations and city landmarks. The decorations create a unified New Year's space and create a festive atmosphere for passengers," noted Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor for Transport.

Marat Khusnullin: The main construction work on the first stage of the Volgograd bypass has been completed.

In the Volgograd region, construction of the first stage of the Volgograd bypass, 12 km long, has been completed.

Construction of the first stage of the Volgograd bypass, a 12-kilometer section, has been completed in the Volgograd Region. This was announced by Marat Khusnullin, Deputy Prime Minister and Supervisor of the Southern Federal District.

"Following President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin's instructions, we are continuing construction of city bypasses. These roads help significantly relieve transit traffic in populated areas, speed up freight delivery, and improve accessibility and the environment. The bypass of the hero city of Volgograd will become part of the federal highway R-22 "Caspian," which is a key part of the international North-South transport route and provides access to the ports of the Caspian basin. Specialists have completed the main construction work for the first phase of the bypass. According to preliminary estimates, this section will allow approximately 10,000 vehicles per day to leave the city of over a million, improving comfort for residents," said Marat Khusnullin.

In 2024, construction of the second phase of the Volgograd bypass was completed, connecting the Moscow-bound R-22 "Caspian" highway outside the city limits with another federal highway, the R-260 Volgograd-Kamensk-Shakhtinsky-Luhansk, and the regional road Kachalino-Stepnoy-Gumrak Airport. The design for the third phase of construction, which will connect the first two, has already been approved by the Federal Autonomous Institution "Glavgosexpertiza of Russia."

"The year 2025 has witnessed the comprehensive and systematic development of Russia's road construction industry, which continues despite all external challenges. Thanks to the attention and support of the government and President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin personally, we are increasing the pace and volume of road construction in all regions of the country. At the same time, we are maintaining a high level of quality, paying special attention to safety and modern technologies. The Volgograd bypass, currently under construction, is a prime example of this approach. Today, we are completing the main work on a four-lane, 12-kilometer section that fully complies with modern road safety requirements, including intelligent transport systems. This bypass is an important element of the Volgograd Region's road network, which is being developed with the active support of the regional government and Governor Andrei Ivanovich Bocharov personally. "We are laying the groundwork for the next two stages—the third and fourth—which will ensure the 100% removal of transit traffic from such a beautiful city as Volgograd," commented Roman Novikov, head of the Federal Road Agency.

In addition to the road itself, the first stage includes three multi-level interchanges that will provide access to the Elista and Astrakhan directions of the R-22 "Caspian" federal highway, the Volgograd-Kotelnikovo-Salsk regional road, and will also connect the bypass with Volgograd. The highway is equipped with central and side barriers and continuous electric lighting.

Two paved rest areas have been established along the road, which will eventually be developed into multifunctional recreation areas. An intelligent transport system will assist specialists in monitoring traffic conditions.

One of the most technologically complex projects, not only of the first stage but of the entire Volgograd bypass, is the bridge over the Volga-Don Shipping Canal named after Lenin. Its length, including the overpass, is over 1,300 meters, along with the length of the channel section. The span over the canal is 17 meters.

Mosfilm's soundstages and the Tonstudio production complex are a nonstop filming and post-production facility. Today, the majority of Russian films from leading studios are created here, with both masters and newcomers to Russian cinema working there. Like any major global studio, Mosfilm also boasts a large-scale television production facility, filming programs and shows of various formats for national television channels. Mosfilm.ru reports on what's happening in the studio's production facilities right now.

From December 20th to January 8th, Mosfilm's Pavilions 1 and 3 are hosting the traditional New Year's show, which this holiday season is called "To the Stars! Mission: Snowmen in Space." Pavilion 1 features a stage with the show's sets and a comfortable auditorium. Pavilion 3 houses a cozy Christmas film village, offering a variety of workshops for children and adults, a rich animation program, and décor made from 200,000 LEDs. The captivating plot of this interactive multimedia musical centers on Father Frost's assistants, who are about to embark on a journey into space in search of a magic star. The show is brimming with special effects—laser graphics, smoke, confetti, an electronic background control system, large-scale LED screens, and even Russia's only system for individual sound positioning in the auditorium! Don't miss it!

Mosfilm's Pavilion 2 is the permanent filming location for the popular show "Nastroenie" (TV Center). From Monday to Friday, the show's hosts help you wake up and are always happy to share the most helpful tips. News and interesting facts from the lives of celebrities, movie secrets, a hit parade of funny animal pranks, and the mysteries of feng shui—and that's far from all the show shares with viewers every weekday starting at 6:00 AM.

Every Sunday in Pavilion 4, hosts Pavel Volya and Ilya Sobolev, along with invited guests, recap the past week on "Show Volya," covering major world events in their own unique way. This comedy program, beloved by millions of viewers, has been a regular fixture at Mosfilm for over two years. During this time, over a hundred episodes have been produced, and dozens of A-list celebrities have appeared as guests. Three sets were constructed for the program's filming: one for interviews, a social media digest, and the final musical number. The grandstand, which seats 180 spectators, also frequently appears in shots.

Mosfilm's Pavilion No. 5 traditionally hosts TVC's flagship project, "The Right to Know," which brings together diverse perspectives on the week's most pressing issues. The program's subject is the person who knows the most about the issue. They will answer questions from journalists—the editors-in-chief of leading Russian media outlets. Their task is to extract from the subject everything viewers want and have a right to know.

Stages 6 and 7 are used for filming the popular singing show "The Voice." The premiere is scheduled for 2026. Popular singer Anna Asti will be taking her first Mentor's chair. Opera singer Ildar Abdrazakov will also be making his debut. The third Mentor will be Vladimir Presnyakov, who previously worked with the adult contestants of "The Voice" in seasons 11 and 12. The fourth chair will be occupied by Pelageya, the most experienced Mentor, having competed in five seasons of "The Voice."

Since March 25, 2018, the program "Evening with Vladimir Solovyov" (Russia-1) has been broadcast from Mosfilm's Pavilion 8. The program discusses current news and events. Experts, politicians, political scientists, and journalists participate in the studio discussion.

The film concern's soundstages 10 and 16 are used for filming various projects using Volumetric video technology. A volumetric video studio, part of Sber's Virtual Production studio, is based here. For some scenes, actors are filmed simultaneously with several dozen cameras, allowing for subsequent 3D editing. The creators of Volumetric Studio use professional Volucam cameras, which are suitable for scientific research, aerospace and defense, industrial machine vision, and augmented/virtual reality with support for multi-camera systems.

Since the summer of 2025, Mosfilm's Pavilion 11 has been home to SPAS TV channel projects. The following programs are filmed here: "Evening on SPAS," "The Priest's Answer," "Parsuna," "Direct Line of Life," "Battlefield," "Stream," "The Main Thing with Anna Shafran," and "Morning on SPAS."

Mosfilm's Pavilion 12 hosted the Podcast.Lab program (Channel 1). The program features intellectual discussions after midnight with the most knowledgeable experts and cutting-edge speakers. The show features the most prominent figures in show business, psychologists, musicians, actors, and even cosmonauts! Astrological forecasts, advice from psychologists, recommendations from financial analysts, reminiscences from film and pop stars, and the latest music. Guests and hosts of the program have included: Karen Shakhnazarov, Vladimir Mashkov, Yulia Rutberg, Vladimir Legoida, Dmitry Bak, Anton Siluanov, Larisa Guzeeva, Tatyana Gevorkyan, Anton Shkaplerov, Tatyana Tolstaya, Ilya Averbukh, Dmitry Dibrov, Alexey Varlamov, Natalya Loseva, Tutta Larsen, Valery Syutkin, Igor Butman, and many others.

Mosfilm's compact Pavilion 13 is often used as a rehearsal space for theatrical projects. At various times, the space has been used for the premieres of plays such as "Warsaw Melody" (premiered by the Yermolova Theatre), "Two on the Seesaw" (independent theatre project "Atelier"), "The Taming of the Shrew" (Teatrium on Serpukhovka), and others. Rehearsals for the "Magic Snowdrops" project (OOO "Lyudi Sceny") are currently underway here.

Filming for the 12th season of the All-Russian Young Talent Competition "Blue Bird" took place in Mosfilm's Pavilion 17 from November to December. In front of millions of viewers, the young talents repeatedly captivated the audience and judges with their talents and confidently took steps toward their dreams! As usual, the participants are supported on stage by renowned artists—singers, actors, directors, and musicians. The program's creator and host is Daria Zlatopolskaya. As is traditional, a massive multi-level set was erected for the program, allowing the participants to perform in a wide variety of disciplines: acting, vocals, choreography, acrobatics, and many others.

All Mosfilm sound stages, which have undergone major renovations and restoration, as well as the new sound stages (No. 16 and No. 17), meet the latest technical and technological requirements not only for film and television production. Large, medium, and small sound stages can be used as spaces for large-scale concerts and cultural events, theatrical rehearsals, business presentations, large-scale and intimate exhibition displays, and more.

All departments of Mosfilm's Tonstudio are operating at full capacity during the December holidays—the 1st and 2nd music studios, the re-recording and mastering studios, the voice and sound studios, and the editing rooms. Currently, post-production work on around two dozen projects is underway at the Tonstudio's production and technical facilities. Among them are the films "Lefty," "Prostokvashino," "The Ninth Planet," "The Commentator," "Saving the Immortal," "Angels of Ladoga," "Heat," "Callsign Ascetic," "For Love," and others.

Mosfilm's 1st Music Studio traditionally hosts symphony orchestra recordings for both film and major media projects. For example, the score for the new ballet "Russian Gambit" was recently recorded there. Currently, the CAGMO (Cinema Anime Game Music Orchestra) symphony orchestra is recording live concerts, often featuring light shows and immersive visual effects.

Today, the Mosfilm Film Concern's Tonstudio production complex is rightfully considered the largest and best-equipped recording studio in Russia. Its services are regularly used not only by leading film companies but also by many renowned figures in the Russian and international music industries.

WUHAN, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) — A Donghu laboratory in central China's Hubei Province on Friday announced a breakthrough in high-speed magnetic levitation (maglev) train technology, as its test line accelerated a 1.1-ton model train to 800 km/h in just 5.3 seconds, marking a major milestone in the research of electromagnetic propulsion technology.

The test was conducted on a 1,000-meter-long track. The train reached peak speed at approximately 600 meters and gradually came to a stop, moving toward the end point over a period of 8 seconds.

According to the lab, this success was achieved thanks to the “electric guidance system of permanent magnet suspension plus electromagnetic propulsion,” which helped overcome issues such as high-speed aerodynamic stability, low-latency wireless communication, and precise control of linear motors.

This is the third time the laboratory has broken the world record for the fastest magnetic levitation train in six months. Previously, it achieved speeds of 650 km/h on June 16 and 700 km/h on July 14, respectively.

The laboratory assured that the 1,000-meter test line will operate as an open platform supporting research and development in the fields of next-generation magnetic levitation transport, aerospace electromagnetic launches, and low-altitude economy projects, providing support for advanced transportation technologies. -0-
