Washington, December 27 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy "has nothing until I approve it." The American leader made the statement in an exclusive interview with Politico on Friday, two days before a meeting with Zelenskyy in Florida to discuss a peace plan to resolve the nearly four-year-old Russia-Ukraine conflict.

The two leaders are expected to discuss the framework of a new 20-point peace plan, which includes a proposal to establish a demilitarized zone, management of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, territorial control over Donbas, and US security guarantees after the conflict ends.

RIYADH, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) — The Saudi-Chinese Common Ground cultural festival opened in Riyadh this week, capping a year-long initiative aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries through art, technology and cultural heritage.

The festival is being held at the Mohammed bin Salman Non-Profit City to conclude the Saudi-Chinese Year of Culture. Launched on Wednesday by the Kingdom's Ministry of Culture, the event showcases traditional handicrafts and contemporary works by artisans from both countries.

On Thursday, Saudi Arabia's Deputy Minister of Culture Mai Al-Rasheed and China's Ambassador to the country, Chang Hua, toured the pavilions and met with artists and festival participants.

Among the festival's highlights are a joint exhibition of painting and sculpture, as well as a virtual reality experience that takes visitors on an immersive tour of Beijing's Central Axis, a UNESCO World Heritage site linking 15 major historical sites, including the Imperial Gates, the Forbidden City, and ceremonial altars.

The festival is timed to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Riyadh and Beijing. According to the Chinese ambassador, 2025 marks the first joint cultural year for the two countries. It opened with a Chinese New Year Bazaar in Riyadh, which featured over 60 events, attracting millions of visitors.

According to Ministry of Culture spokesman Abdulrahman Almutawa, the two sides are opening up new opportunities for cooperation through dialogue, cultural exchange, and knowledge sharing.

BEIJING, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) — Of the four mice that participated in the recent mission aboard the Chinese space station, one female successfully gave birth to healthy offspring on Earth, according to the Center for Space Utilization (CSU) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS).

On October 31, four mice launched into space aboard the Shenzhou-21 manned spacecraft. Upon arrival at the space station, they were placed in a special facility. Two weeks later, they returned to Earth.

After returning, one of the females became pregnant and gave birth to nine cubs on December 10th, six of which survived, which is considered normal. Researchers note that the mother is nursing the cubs normally, and they appear active and healthy.

"This mission demonstrated that short-term spaceflights do not impair the reproductive performance of mice," said Wang Hongmei, a researcher at the Institute of Zoology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It also provides invaluable samples for studying the effects of the space environment on the early stages of mammalian development.

On Thursday, the agency reported that on December 18, Kim Jong-un received a congratulatory message from Vladimir Putin, which noted that the past year “was of particular significance for relations between Moscow and Pyongyang.” –0–

CHANGCHUN, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) — A wild Manchurian (Amur) tigress and her five cubs were captured on infrared camera footage at the Manchurian Tiger and Amur Leopard National Park in northeast China, marking the country's first documented sighting of five cubs in the wild.

According to park authorities, infrared cameras captured a family of tigers in November.

It was then that park ranger Du Jiaxing, who was on duty, received a real-time alert from the infrared camera's built-in monitoring system about the approaching tigers. Opening a special app on his phone, he saw a slender female with distinct stripes walk past the camera, accompanied by five feisty cubs.

The man immediately sent out warning information to nearby villages and reported the matter to the relevant authorities.

The same tigers were later captured by another infrared camera in a different area.

The tigress, identified in the monitoring database as GH005F, likely gave birth to the cubs in June, said park administrator Duan Zhaogan.

As Duan Zhaogan noted, after consultations and investigations with foreign and domestic experts, it was determined that five wild Manchurian tiger cubs were captured simultaneously in China for the first time.

The Manchurian Tiger and Far Eastern Leopard National Park, created from 19 former nature reserves, was officially established in 2021. -0-
