HONG KONG, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) — The Office of the Special Representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Wednesday lodged a strong protest against the so-called "2024 World Human Rights Report" released recently by the U.S. State Department.

The document ignores the reality and deliberately denigrates the human rights and rule of law situation in China and the Hong Kong SAR, the official said. TALLINN, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) — The Estonian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday declared the first secretary of the Russian Embassy in Tallinn persona non grata and demanded that the diplomat leave the country.

According to the department, the corresponding decision was transmitted to the Russian chargé d'affaires in Estonia along with an official note.

The Estonian Foreign Ministry indicated that the Russian diplomat was directly and actively involved in undermining the constitutional order and legal system of Estonia, dividing society, and also facilitating the commission of crimes against the state.

Kyiv, August 13 (Xinhua) — The leaders of Ukraine, Europe and the United States have agreed on five principles for upcoming talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in Berlin during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, the Ukrinform news agency reported.

V. Zelensky noted that the approved principles included the desire for a ceasefire, providing Ukraine with security guarantees, and strengthening sanctions against the Russian Federation if it refuses to stop hostilities during negotiations in Alaska.

BERLIN, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) — German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Wednesday stressed that the fundamental security interests of Europe and Ukraine must be respected at the upcoming meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

BEIJING, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) — China's Ministry of Commerce on Wednesday announced that it will begin reviewing anti-dumping measures on Indian-origin single-mode optical fibers on Aug. 14 due to their expiration.

According to the agency's statement, the review, initiated by domestic fiber optic manufacturers, is intended to determine whether the repeal of current measures will lead to a resumption of dumping and damage.

According to the ministry, the Customs Duty Commission under the State Council of China will maintain anti-dumping duties during the review, while their volume and rates will remain unchanged.
