Participants of the jubilee, tenth Eastern Economic Forum on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University will be greeted by new objects that form the patriotic and educational space of Russky Island. On the way to the exhibition "Far East Street" the Alley of Glory of the Far East will be opened, dedicated to the heroes of the special military operation, and the main landmark on the campus territory will be a giant Russian tricolor with an area of more than 150 sq. m.

“The Eastern Economic Forum is not only a platform for discussing the most pressing issues of economic and social development, proposals for developing new measures to support business and programs aimed at improving the quality of life. It is a point of public attention. This year, our country celebrates the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. We remember the feat of our fathers and grandfathers who shed their blood for the freedom and independence of our country and the whole world, we remember the home front workers who worked around the clock so that our country would defeat the enemy and there would be a peaceful sky above our heads. The memory of battles, heroism and courage is necessary. This is the foundation of the entire Russian state. Russia is currently conducting a special military operation. Our guys on the front lines continue to protect their families, friends, and the country. They need our support. Volunteers are bringing humanitarian aid from the Far Eastern regions. Far Eastern builders are rebuilding Donbass. Far Eastern enterprises produce machinery and equipment that goes to the front. Doctors and teachers are traveling to new regions. “It depends on all of us how quickly we win,” said Deputy Prime Minister – Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the Far Eastern Federal District, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Eastern Economic Forum Yuri Trutnev.

The Alley of Fame consists of seven three-dimensional steles dedicated to 53 servicemen of the Eastern Military District who were awarded the "Gold Star" of the Hero of the Russian Federation. On the steles, participants of the EEF will be able to find information about the feats accomplished by Far Eastern soldiers. Detailed stories of the heroes will be published in a special section on the university's website. The official opening of the Alley of Fame will take place during the forum.

"The Alley is located on the way from the venue of the business part of the EEF to the "Far East Street", so most of the guests will have the opportunity to learn about the exploits of the Far Eastern heroes. And after the forum, the Alley of Glory will become an integral part of the educational process for first-year students – open classes on patriotic education and a course on the fundamentals of Russian statehood will be held here," said FEFU Rector Boris Korobets.

The tricolor can be seen from the Russian Bridge, from the mainland part of the city and the water area of Vladivostok – it will become not only one of the main symbols of the FEFU campus, but also an iconic landmark of the city.

The forested coastal taiga has been preserved here, there are ponds with wild ducks and a picturesque waterfall. The main attraction of the park is the University Embankment, 1200 m long along the Ajax Bay, where pavilions of all regions of the Far Eastern Federal District are located – the exhibition "Far East Street". BEIJING, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — Accordions made in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region are planned to be exported to Kazakhstan, Belarus and other countries, according to the opening ceremony of the accordion studio of the China Musical Instrument Society in Tacheng, local media reported.

Tarbagatai accordions will be exported through the Baktu checkpoint on the Chinese-Kazakh border. Tarbagatai has established the assembly of this musical instrument with the involvement of international suppliers of parts and components, and has become the first locally assembled accordion manufacturer in Xinjiang. In Tacheng, Tarbagatai accordions are already perceived as a major achievement in using cultural resources to promote industrial development.

According to Song Yalong, head of the city's cultural and tourism bureau, Tacheng's accordion culture has made the transition from a local phenomenon to an international brand. The most important events in this process were the first accordion festival with a record number of performers – more than one thousand people in 2016, getting into the Shanghai Great World Guinness Book of Records, and the participation of performers from countries along the Belt and Road and other foreign countries in the 2024 festival. And in 2025, Tacheng and its accordion culture were glorified by 5,282 accordion lovers, who set a new record with their collective performance, officially registered by representatives of the Guinness Book of Records. It is noteworthy that about a thousand of them played the accordion of the Tarbagatai brand.

In the first half of this year, Tacheng received about 3 million tourists, and accordion culture is considered an important factor and driver of tourist growth.

As noted, the new studio, as a platform for interaction between performers and accordion manufacturers, will contribute to the further popularization, preservation and development of the art of playing this musical instrument. -0-

ADDIS ABABA, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) — A readers' forum dedicated to Xi Jinping's book "On Respecting and Ensuring Human Rights" was held here on Thursday.

Speaking at the forum, Jiang Jianguo, a member of the Bureau of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), vice-chairman of the Ethnicity and Religious Affairs Commission of the CPPCC National Committee, and executive vice-chairman of the China Society for the Study of Human Rights, noted that the book has been published in 13 foreign languages and has attracted readers from all over the world, working in the fields of human rights, politics, academic research, as well as in the media and think tanks.

"From this book, readers can learn about Xi Jinping's deep concern for the people and how the leader of a major party and a major country views the world," he said. Readers can also gain insight into the CPC's century-long commitment to respecting and ensuring human rights, as well as China's independent path in advancing human rights, Jiang Jianguo said, expressing hope that the book will serve as a useful guide for African countries in advancing modernization and improving governance for human rights and people's well-being.

Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai stressed that both China and Africa emphasize a people-centered approach and a path of human rights that suits national conditions, while opposing the politicization of human rights issues.

China and Ethiopia have played an exemplary role in China-Africa exchanges and cooperation on human rights, he said. China-Africa exchanges and cooperation on human rights will not only advance the cause of human rights in China and Africa, but also contribute to strengthening the China-Africa community with a shared future and promoting human progress, the diplomat added.

In turn, Liberia's Deputy Foreign Minister Jeddy Mowbray Armah said that each country, based on its own history, culture and stage of development, must choose a path that suits its national circumstances, while maintaining a common aspiration for dignity, justice and equality. This concept resonates deeply with the states of the Global South, the official added.

The event was attended by about 150 representatives of African political and academic circles, media and students. –0–
