SEOUL, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) — The special prosecutor of the Republic of Korea (ROK) said Monday that he has indicted a total of 76 people, including former President Yoon Seok-yel and his wife, on corruption charges after completing investigations.

Special Prosecutor Min Joon-gi's team said in a statement released after completing a 180-day investigation that it had indicted a total of 76 people, including 20 defendants in custody.

It is noted that the charges against Yun Seok-yul and his wife Kim Geon-hee include stock price manipulation, receiving lavish gifts, illegally interfering with the relocation of the presidential office, and illegally receiving political funds.

Vladivostok, December 29 (Xinhua) — The Soyuz-2.1b rocket with the Fregat upper stage launched 52 satellites into orbit from the Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia's Amur Region. Roscosmos announced this on its official Telegram channel on Monday.

The Soyuz 2.1b launch vehicle launched on December 28 at 4:18 PM Moscow time. The total time it took to launch the satellites into orbit was five hours.

Beijing, December 29 (Xinhua) — Last Friday, the 30th freight train this year departed from the Beijing International Land Port, located in the Fangshan District of Beijing, bound for Almaty, Kazakhstan, as part of the China-Europe/Central Asia international rail freight service, according to the Zhongguo Xinwenwang online portal.

The train, loaded with 110 standard containers (TEU) with more than 800 tons of goods worth over 23 million yuan (about 3.28 million US dollars), including auto parts and office chairs, is expected to arrive in Almaty in 10 days, crossing the state border at Alashankou checkpoint (Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Northwest China).

As a reminder, the first China-Central Asia freight train departed from Beijing on March 19 of this year. Russia's first icebreaking tanker, the Alexey Kosygin, built at the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex, departed Bolshoy Kamen Bay on its maiden voyage along the Northern Sea Route. Following successful sea and gas trials, the vessel was delivered to the customer, PAO Sovcomflot, for the Arctic LNG 2 project.

Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex is a high-tech, large-tonnage shipyard designed to build ships and marine equipment with a displacement of up to 350,000 tons. The project is being implemented at the request of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the town of Bolshoy Kamen in Primorsky Krai. Rosneft Oil Company is the project operator.

The Alexey Kosygin is the lead vessel in a series of LNG carriers being built at the shipyard. With their high ice class of ARC 7, the tankers can independently navigate through ice over two meters thick. The vessel holds 172,000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas and is equipped with unique rudder-propeller units, also manufactured at the Zvezda Shipyard by the Sapphire plant. The LNG carrier is 300 meters long, 48.8 meters wide, and has a deadweight of 81,000 tons. Its propulsion system has a capacity of 60 MW.

The construction of LNG carriers strengthens the country's shipbuilding capacity and makes a significant contribution to achieving import substitution goals, ensuring the country's technological independence in the creation of critical Arctic infrastructure.

Vienna, December 29 (Xinhua) — Repairs to power lines have begun near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) as part of a local ceasefire brokered by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The agency announced this on social media on Sunday.
