TOKYO, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) — Chinese Ambassador to Japan Wu Jianghao on Thursday rejected a representation made by Japanese Vice Foreign Minister Takehiro Funakoshi regarding China's tightening controls on the export of dual-use goods to Japan.

According to a statement from the Chinese Embassy in Japan, Wu Jianghao stated that these measures are aimed at protecting China's national security and interests, as well as fulfilling its international obligations, including non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. According to the ambassador, they are fully justified, rational, and legal.

Achievements include the first experiment with mammals on a Chinese space station, the world's first biological study in a submagnetic and microgravity environment, and the longest crew stay in open space in a single spacewalk.

In addition, in November 2025, the first ever alternative return procedure for a crew from orbit to Earth was successfully completed on the Chinese space station.

The report also noted new achievements in China's space program, such as the completion of the selection of the fourth group of astronaut candidates, which included payload specialists from the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, and the development of a low-cost payload transportation system.

BEIJING, January 8 (Xinhua) — The ever-growing nuclear ambitions of right-wing forces in Japan are a dangerous signal of a resurgence of Japanese militarism, which poses a serious threat to global peace and stability, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Thursday.

The Chinese diplomat made the statement at a regular press briefing, speaking about a report titled "Japanese Rightist Forces' Nuclear Ambitions: A Serious Threat to World Peace," which was released Thursday morning.

According to Mao Ning, Japan should heed the legitimate calls of the international community, immediately clarify its position on the nuclear weapons issue, strictly comply with its obligations under the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), and adhere to the "three non-nuclear principles."

Condemning Japan's nuclear ambitions, which have emerged since the new Japanese government came to power, Mao Ning noted that such steps pose a serious challenge to the NPT-based international non-proliferation regime and the post-war international order, and are also facing strong opposition from the international community and representatives of various social circles in Japan itself.

As a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized, the report exposes Japanese right-wing forces' plans to acquire nuclear weapons, listing such dangerous facts as Japan's secret nuclear weapons research, long-term accumulation of large amounts of sensitive nuclear materials, and the potential to develop nuclear weapons.

The report provides a deep analysis of the negative impact of Japanese right-wing statements and actions on nuclear weapons on global peace and security, outlines a number of measures and proposals to eliminate such influence, and calls for action against Japan acquiring nuclear weapons and for world peace, Mao Ning said.

According to her, the international community should be wary of Japan's dangerous pursuit of nuclear weapons, exercise caution in nuclear cooperation with it, continue bilateral and multilateral discussions to curb Japan's nuclear ambitions, and strengthen monitoring and verification of this country.

“International law and the international non-proliferation regime must remain inviolable, and Japan must stop testing the lower limit and red line of international justice,” Mao Ning added. –0–
