PHNOM PENH, July 27 (Xinhua) — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on Sunday reiterated his readiness for an "immediate and unconditional ceasefire" between the armed forces of his country and Thailand.

In a post on social media, Khun Manet said he had a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump on Saturday evening regarding the armed clashes on the Cambodia-Thailand border.

During the conversation, D. Trump expressed his desire to avoid war or hostilities that would lead to numerous deaths and casualties on both sides, and his hope for an immediate ceasefire and the establishment of peace between the two countries, Hun Manet said.

Hun Manet said he had instructed Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhon to discuss a ceasefire proposal with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

KHARTOUM, July 27 (Xinhua) — A political coalition led by the paramilitary Rapid Intervention Force (RIF) announced on Saturday the formation of a parallel government in Sudan, raising fears of further fragmentation of the country already suffering from civil conflict for more than two years.

“The leadership of the Founding Alliance of Sudan has agreed to appoint Mohammed Hassan al-Taishi as prime minister of the peace government,” the alliance’s spokesman, Alaa El-Din Nugood, said in a televised address broadcast via Telegram.

According to the statement, RRF commander Mohammed Hamdan Daglo was appointed head of the presidential council, the highest sovereign body in the new government, and PPLM-N leader Abdelaziz al-Hilu was appointed his deputy.

An anonymous source in the alliance told Xinhua that the SRF received 42 percent of the seats in the parallel government, while the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North received 33 percent. The remaining 25 percent were divided among other groups in the alliance.

Political analyst Abdel Khalek Mahjoub said the announcement of a parallel government would further complicate Sudan's political crisis.

"There are serious concerns that Sudan could face the threat of splitting, given the existence of two governments. This reality worsens the political situation in the country," he said.

Having two governments, he said, exacerbates the geographic divide, which could eventually lead to permanent division, as seen in some other countries.

In February, the RSF signed a founding charter with various political and armed groups, laying the foundation for a parallel government.

The RSF currently controls most of the Darfur region in western Sudan and part of the Kordofan region.

LHASA, July 26 (Xinhua) — The 11th Panchen Lama, Ertnyi Choelkyi Kyalbo, visited the cities of Chamdo and Nagchu in southwest China's Xizang Autonomous Region from July 7 to 23, attended a series of religious activities and conducted social research.

On July 7, the Panchen Lama, the spiritual leader of Lamaism, arrived in Chamdo by plane from Lhasa, the regional capital. From July 7 to 18, he visited more than 10 temples in several districts and counties of Chamdo City Prefecture and took part in religious services.

At the Zonggang Temple in the county of the same name, the Panchen Lama gave a teaching on the Longevity Sutra to the monks and performed a blessing ritual by laying hands on their heads.

During his stay in Chamdo, the 11th Panchen Lama also presided over a symposium on ethnic cohesion in Zonggang County and visited the Tibetan Medicine Company, the Tibetan Medicine Hospital and the town of Sobando, an important staging post on the ancient Tea Road, a trade route during the Tang Dynasty (618-907) that passed through several regions. These activities were part of his public research mission.

During a visit to a Tibetan medicine company in the city's economic and technological development zone, the 11th Panchen Lama noted that Tibetan medicine is a treasure of traditional medicine for the Chinese nation. "We must definitely preserve the traditional recipes of Tibetan medicine while focusing on scientific innovation so that more people can benefit from this ancient wisdom," he said.

The journey to Chamdo lasted 12 days, and the Panchen Lama was warmly received by monks and other followers of Lamaism wherever he went.

He was born on February 13, 1990, in Jiali County, Nagchu City, Xizang Autonomous Region. UNITED NATIONS, July 26 (Xinhua) — Representatives of Cambodia and Thailand addressed the United Nations Security Council on Friday over the ongoing border clashes, with Cambodia calling for an unconditional ceasefire and Thailand demanding the other side "stop hostile actions and resume dialogue."

Cambodia's permanent representative to the UN, Keo Chhea, has called for an immediate ceasefire with Thailand following border clashes between the two countries.

"Cambodia has demanded an immediate ceasefire – unconditionally, and we also call for a peaceful resolution of the /border/ dispute," a Cambodian diplomat told reporters after a closed UN Security Council meeting.

"China attaches great importance to global AI governance and actively participates in promoting multilateral and bilateral cooperation. We are willing to offer more Chinese solutions to the international community," Li Qiang said at the opening ceremony of the 2025 World Conference on Artificial Intelligence and the High-Level Conference on Global Governance of Artificial Intelligence in Shanghai.
