UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) — The United Nations welcomes the agreement reached between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on "practical modalities for resuming inspections in Iran," Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the head of the world body, said on Wednesday.

“We welcome the agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the IAEA on ‘practical modalities for the resumption of inspections in Iran’ as a positive step towards resuming full cooperation as required by Iran’s comprehensive safeguards agreement,” Dujarric said at a daily briefing. “And we look forward to the agreement’s speedy implementation.”

He added that Iran's full cooperation with the IAEA is essential to achieving a long-term framework that ensures the preservation of the exclusively peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear program.

Iran and the IAEA signed an agreement on Tuesday to resume cooperation, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said at a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty and the agency's director general Rafael Grossi. –0–

LONDON, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) — British Prime Minister Keir Starmer met Israeli President Isaac Herzog at Downing Street on Wednesday. During the meeting, the British prime minister strongly condemned Israel's recent strike on Qatar's Doha, calling it "completely unacceptable," a Downing Street spokesman said.

K. Starmer noted that the strikes were “a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of a key partner” and did not contribute to achieving the peace that “we all desperately want.”

Speaking about the situation in Gaza, the British Prime Minister expressed deep concern and called on the Israeli side to change its course. He stressed that Israel must allow humanitarian aid to enter the enclave and stop its offensive to prevent the worsening of the situation, which he called an “artificial famine.”

Both leaders agreed that hostages kidnapped by Hamas nearly two years ago must be released, and Starmer also expressed his condolences over the deadly attack in Jerusalem on Monday.

The European Union and the United Nations, as well as several European governments including Britain, have hardened their stance this week on Israel's escalating military campaign in the Middle East following Israeli airstrikes in Qatar on Tuesday. –0–

“Both films are about the same thing: the absolutely inhuman nature of fascism and Nazism, which spares neither women, nor children, nor the elderly, nor civilians. And this is about those irreparable losses, about the terrible price that China and the Soviet Union paid for victory in World War II and in national wars – the Great Patriotic War and the War of Resistance of the Chinese People against the Japanese invaders,” said Alexander Zharov, CEO of Gazprom-Media Holding, which is the distributor of the project.

The film is based on true events and tells the story of a group of Chinese civilians who hid in a photo studio and risked their lives to preserve evidence of atrocities committed by the Japanese military.

BEIJING, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) — China's fiscal policy has been more proactive this year, while the budget execution situation and the functioning of the financial system have remained generally stable, Finance Minister Lan Fo'an said.

On Wednesday, at the request of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Lan Fo'an delivered a report on the implementation of the 2025 national budget since the beginning of this year at the 17th session of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People's Congress (NPC Standing Committee).

The Finance Minister gave several examples illustrating how the country is implementing a more active fiscal policy in practice, including the comprehensive use of fiscal policy instruments to support a special campaign to stimulate consumption, subsidizing interest rates on individual consumer loans and loans received by business entities in the service sector, and introducing a program to help older people who have lost the ability to care for themselves cover the costs of care services.

In addition, the coverage of subsidies for the disposal of old cars and replacement of household appliances has been expanded, Lan Fo'an said, noting that the issuance of super-long-term special government bonds in 2025 began a month earlier than the previous year.

Going forward, China will effectively and fully utilize its more proactive fiscal policy and continuously improve its toolbox, the minister said. He pledged to maintain policy consistency and stability while being more flexible and prudent to counter various uncertainties with the certainty of high-quality development. -0-
