The International Sports Games of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky and the International Forum "Faith and Sport" have opened in St. Petersburg. They will run until September 15.

Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev read out a greeting from Russian President Vladimir Putin, in which the head of state, in particular, noted: "These large-scale competitions, dedicated to the memory of Prince Alexander Nevsky – an outstanding statesman, commander, a true patriot, introduce young men and women to traditional moral ideals and values, and serve to promote a healthy, active lifestyle in society. And of course, such significant, popular projects strengthen the connection between times and generations, and testify to the sincere, growing interest of young people in their native history, in our roots and origins."

The head of state expressed confidence that the Games, which are being held on the initiative of the Patriarchal Commission for Physical Culture and Sports, will become a major and truly festive event and will be remembered for a long time for their special, inspiring atmosphere.

In his greeting, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' emphasized that this year the competition, which has received international status, is being held in St. Petersburg – “a city where the relics of St. Alexander Nevsky are reverently kept and where representatives of different cultures have peacefully coexisted for more than three centuries.”

Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Preparation and Holding of the International Sports Games of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky Dmitry Chernyshenko also sent greetings to the organizers, participants and guests of the Games and the forum. He emphasized the symbolism of holding the first international games in St. Petersburg – a city that has been building a dialogue between representatives of different countries for centuries.

“Prince Alexander, who united the Russian lands and peoples, who became the personification of our spiritual, state, military and diplomatic aspirations, became by right the patron of a significant initiative of the Russian Orthodox Church and traditional religions of Russia in the field of physical culture and sports, aimed at the spiritual, moral and patriotic education of the younger generation,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.

He added that the approach to organizing and holding sporting events that combines spiritual growth and physical improvement will become Russia’s invaluable contribution to the development of world sport.

The International Forum “Faith and Sport”, which is part of the Games, will become a vibrant discussion platform for discussing a wide range of issues.

"I would like to extend special greetings to the foreign participants of the Games. It is gratifying to realize that the proposed format of combining sports competitions and spiritual and moral growth finds a practical response from our friends from Belarus, Egypt, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Myanmar, Tajikistan and other countries. I wish all participants, guests and organizers of the international games sports victories and success in the upcoming competitions!" the Deputy Prime Minister concluded.

Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov wished the participants to believe in themselves, respect their opponents and added: “I am sure that you have all already won, because you are at these Games, you are in St. Petersburg!”

The sports program of the Games includes competitions in five sports (basketball, sambo, mini-football, chess, table tennis), and the fulfillment of the standards for testing the All-Russian physical culture and sports complex "Ready for Labor and Defense".

The Games will include the international forum “Faith and Sport” – a discussion platform for experts to exchange experiences and develop solutions aimed at interaction between religious organizations of traditional faiths in Russia and executive authorities, organizations and institutions in the field of physical culture and sport.

The organizers of the Games in 2025 are the Ministry of Sports, the Patriarchal Commission for Physical Culture and Sports, and the Government of St. Petersburg. The composition of the organizing committee has been approved.

Whether it's getting together with friends and spending the day at a safari park on the outskirts of town on the weekends or heading to another city specifically to visit a zoo during the holidays, zoos have become a popular pastime among Chinese youth in recent years.

In recent years, Nanjing Hongshan Forest Zoo has become very popular, with more than 15,000 visitors daily, and many tourists come to Nanjing specifically for the zoo.

In addition, Xining Zoo in Qinghai Province has become famous throughout the country for its snow leopards "Ling Xiaomang" and "Ling Xiaozhe", while tiger "Hongtang" in Shanghai Zoo and lion cub "Xiaomao" in Harbin Polar Aquarium in Heilongjiang Province have attracted many fans with their playful and friendly nature.

The popularity of Zoo Walk is due to the fact that zoos offer a variety of interesting activities to attract young visitors.

"We just want to gradually break people's traditional notion that a zoo is just a place to show animals," said Shen Zhijun, director of Hongshan Forest Zoo. Through innovative efforts such as developing cultural and creative products, the zoo has transformed from a single-function space into a multifunctional cultural space where people can see and play.

Shangfangshan Zoo in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, launched the “Under Your Name, Guardianship Out of Love” program, allowing citizens to directly participate in the daily protection of animals through guardianship. This will not only provide animals with more care, but also give citizens a deeper understanding of the animals’ habits, thereby strengthening their consciousness of protecting nature.

BEIJING, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) — The central banks of China and Indonesia on Thursday formally launched a local currency settlement framework for bilateral transactions to facilitate the further use of local currencies in bilateral trade and investment.

The new mechanism is based on a memorandum of understanding signed in May this year, which modernized the previous framework mechanism by extending settlements in national currencies to all balance of payments items.

In addition, the central bank governors of the two countries announced on the same day the official launch of a bilateral pilot project for cross-border connectivity through QR codes. The project, which will enable settlements in national currencies, is expected to be fully operational in 2025 and will mark an important advance in the payment cooperation between the two countries.

"The establishment of a national currency settlement framework for bilateral transactions and the interconnection of cross-border payments through QR codes are important achievements of China-Indonesian financial cooperation," said Pan Gongsheng, governor of the People's Bank of China (PBOC, central bank).

He pointed out that the central banks of the two countries should further deepen cooperation in areas such as the interconnection of payment systems, the use of national currencies and digital currencies.

The PBOC also announced that the central banks of China and Indonesia will establish a joint working mechanism to further enhance the institutionalization of bilateral cooperation to promote deeper and more productive financial cooperation. –0–

Tatyana Golikova spoke at a panel discussion at the St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Source: Government of the Russian Federation – Government of the Russian Federation –

An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova spoke at the panel discussion "Family in Focus. How Culture and Media Can Help Solve the Demographic Issue" at the St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures. Other speakers at the panel discussion included Sergei Novikov, Head of the Presidential Directorate for Public Projects, Alexei Eremin, Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Central Federal District, Maria Zakharova, Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Wang Bin, a journalist from the People's Republic of China, Marina Kim, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications, and Priest Fyodor Lukyanov, Chairman of the Patriarchal Commission on Family Issues, Protection of Motherhood and Childhood. The panel discussion was moderated by Andrei Kondrashov, General Director of TASS.

As Tatyana Golikova noted, Russia is a country where the family has always been the indestructible foundation of society, the strength of spirit and the keeper of traditions. The more challenges there are in the modern world for the family in its traditional sense, the more serious attention should be paid to this topic not only by the state, but also by culture and the media.

The family is a fundamental social institution of particular strategic importance on which the future of the country depends.

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the state is doing a lot to ensure that the number of families with children grows, and that the number of large families increases. Today, having many children is becoming a real value in Russia – there are already 2.8 million large families in the country. Over the past two years, their number has increased by 17.4%, with 8.9 million children growing up in them.

Among families with four or more children, the happiness level reaches 66%, which is a very high figure. 80% of Russians are convinced that children give life a special meaning, 78% believe that children are a way to leave a legacy and pass on family traits, 75% note the important role of children in the emergence and preservation of family traditions.

At the same time, 40% of Russians want to have two children, 26% – three, 6% strive to have five or more children. 73% of citizens aim to preserve the family by finding compromises and do not allow divorce.

The strategic goal of society development is to increase the proportion of citizens who recognize family as the main value in life to 80% by 2030. Success in this largely depends on the media, which form values and public opinion at the level of emotional settings.

"Family is love, mutual understanding, support, a source of happiness and meaning in life, successful parenting that brings pleasure and joy, self-realization and experience. Only by joining forces can we create conditions in which family will truly become the main value for every person in our country. By demonstrating successful family models, a healthy attitude to parenting, and the positive experience of large families, we increase the value of the institution of family," said Tatyana Golikova.

She noted that today the image of a large family and, of course, a mother of many children is changing in the eyes of the public. A large family is associated with cohesion, responsibility, hard work, kindness, friendliness, and a mother of many children is associated with wisdom and happiness. And this is another aspect in which culture and media have a significant impact in strengthening traditional family values.

In addition, the role of the father in raising children and family life is changing, and involved fatherhood is becoming the norm. 71% of Russians believe that the father helps children grow up strong and successful.

The desire of young people to get on their feet – to build a career, get an education, buy a home – leads to postponing the creation of a family and having children.

"We are systematically building the state's social policy in such a way that the number of existing support measures removes most of the fears of future parents. A striking example of this is the growth in the number of student families, which indicates a positive trend. There are more than 25 thousand student families in Russia, of which 13 thousand families are already raising children," Tatyana Golikova emphasized.

The state offers a comprehensive system of support for families with children. All measures and programs of the national project "Family", which started on January 1, 2025, are aimed at building confidence in the future of each family. This is maternity capital, a single allowance, preferential housing programs, high-quality medicine for women and children, reproductive medical examination, free IVF, mother and child rooms in universities, assistance in finding or keeping a job, social payments.

At the same time, the development of cultural infrastructure continues within the framework of the national project "Family". The opportunity to spend leisure time with the whole family, get acquainted with the history and rich cultural heritage of the country, engage in creativity is a necessity for creating a strong and friendly family. In the coming years, 420 libraries will receive modern equipment, 100 theaters will be reconstructed, 255 museums will undergo modernization, 1200 cultural centers will receive a new life.

Tatyana Golikova noted the important task of culture and media – to convey family values, reduce anxiety and the feeling of “I can’t cope”, and show the supporting role of the state.

Last year, 20 films aimed at family audiences were released. Five of them grossed an impressive amount at the box office – more than a billion rubles. This speaks to the demand for family content in society.

In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that culture and mass media are responsible for the negative influence on viewers, the transmission of anti-family values, the popularization of a childless lifestyle, the distortion of traditional family roles and the formation of an incorrect idea of marriage.

Marat Khusnullin: New projects implemented with the use of treasury infrastructure loans have been approved

Translation. Region: Russian Federal

Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin held a meeting of the presidium (headquarters) of the Government Commission on Regional Development. Participants discussed preliminary results of work within the framework of the national project "Infrastructure for Life", issues of cash execution under programs, and also considered the next applications for financing projects with the involvement of funds from treasury infrastructure loans (TIL).

"The construction industry faces an important task of ensuring the availability of housing throughout the country, especially in key settlements, and linking this with the Spatial Development Strategy and master plans. In addition to maintaining the high rate of commissioning of multi-apartment and individual housing, it is important to continue working more actively to involve unused land plots into circulation, as well as to increase urban development potential. I ask the regions to more actively join these tasks. In general, the implementation of key indicators across the country is proceeding as usual. The Saratov and Penza regions, Perm Krai, the Republic of Tatarstan, Adygea, Buryatia, and the Chechen Republic consistently maintain high positions and are among the leaders in traffic lights. We see positive dynamics in road activities. Since the beginning of the year, almost 4 thousand km of regional and local roads have been commissioned, which is 676 km more than last year. 45 regions in the “green” zone, including Belgorod, Kaliningrad, Penza regions, the city of Sevastopol and the Republic of Mari El, have fulfilled the road paving plan,” said Marat Khusnullin.

In his report, Minister of Construction and Housing and Public Utilities Irek Faizullin spoke about the systemic work of the Russian Ministry of Construction to reduce the procedures of the investment and construction cycle, about the measures taken to prevent the growth of prices for construction resources and about the applications received from the regions to participate in the selection of infrastructure projects to receive treasury infrastructure loans for their implementation.

"To measure the duration of the investment and construction cycle, the Russian Ministry of Construction has introduced a monitoring system that allows for quarterly measurement of actual construction periods. Regions are developing and implementing comprehensive plans to reduce the procedures of the investment and construction cycle. The Russian Ministry of Construction has studied international experience, translated national standards of the People's Republic of China, which are planned to be included in the federal register by the end of the year," said Irek Faizullin.

During the meeting, the presidium of the government commission reviewed applications for treasury infrastructure loans. The curator of the CIC program is the Ministry of Construction of Russia, the operator is the public-law company "Fund for Development of Territories".

"All projects approved under the treasury infrastructure loans are important for the comprehensive development of regions and improving the standard of living of Russians. Most of the projects, after completion of the work, will help provide local residents with high-quality utilities, improve transport accessibility and the environment. A number of projects will be implemented in key settlements. Today, the headquarters approved 13 projects, including 28 objects in the Khabarovsk, Kamchatka, Zabaikalsky Krais, Ivanovo, Novgorod Regions, the Republics of Sakha (Yakutia) and Buryatia, for a total of 14.67 billion rubles. The projects will be provided within the limits for the modernization of housing and communal services, for the development of the Far Eastern Federal District and the Arctic, and for the implementation of large infrastructure projects on behalf of the President of Russia. In addition, within the framework of the competitive selection, 5 investment projects were considered in the Kaliningrad, Voronezh and Amur regions, Zabaikalsky Krai for a total CIC amount of about 16.9 billion rubles and, thus, the final list of 20 projects in 17 regions was approved. The total CIC amount for projects under the competition within the first stage amounted to about 77 billion rubles. The regional teams are now faced with the task of implementing the planned projects on time, because this determines how life in our regions will change in the coming years," noted Marat Khusnullin.

In particular, a treasury infrastructure loan in the amount of 2.68 billion rubles will be allocated for the construction of a water supply and sanitation system in Khabarovsk Krai.

869.18 million rubles will be allocated for the construction of 3 gas boiler houses and major repairs of intra-block heating networks in the territory of supporting settlements in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

In the Republic of Buryatia, a KIK in the amount of 838.59 million rubles was approved for the construction of a water pipeline, major repairs of sewer collectors and heating networks in Ulan-Ude, and the modernization of two heat distribution systems in small settlements.

In the Ivanovo region, 775.86 million rubles will be allocated for the major repairs of the 876 m long sewer main in Ivanovo.

In Kamchatka Krai, 363 million rubles of KIK have been approved for the construction of a sewage pumping station with the construction of water drainage networks for more than 17 thousand residents in the city of Elizovo.

In the Novgorod Region, the approved funds of the CIC in the amount of 6.49 billion rubles are planned to be used for the construction of a 682 km section of the Moscow-St. Petersburg high-speed railway, as well as for the construction of water supply and sanitation networks, including for prospective residential development.

Also, 2.65 billion rubles of KIC will be directed to the implementation of 5 projects under the long-term plans of the Far Eastern Federal District in the Trans-Baikal Territory, where it is planned to build the Siberian and Smolensk water intakes, improve the embankment of the Chita River, and build and reconstruct heat, water supply and sanitation networks for 69 thousand people.

As part of the competitive selection, the headquarters considered 5 projects in the Kaliningrad, Voronezh and Amur regions, and the Trans-Baikal Territory for a total CIC amount of approximately 16.9 billion rubles.

In the Amur Region, it is planned to allocate 382.59 million rubles of KIK for the reconstruction of a section of the regional highway with a length of just over 1 km, which will also provide improved transport accessibility to the Golden Mile.

In the Kaliningrad region, KIK funds in the amount of 11.45 billion rubles will be directed to the modernization of the public utility infrastructure for the integrated resort "White Dune", as well as the construction of the Zelenogradsk – Pionersky resort automobile overpass.

In the Voronezh region, with the involvement of 1.52 billion rubles, KIK is implementing a project to create public infrastructure facilities for the Maslovsky-2 industrial park.

In the Zabaikalsky Krai, as part of a competitive selection, KIK will allocate 3.56 billion rubles to provide engineering infrastructure for a future world-class university campus.
