Jerusalem, September 26 (Xinhua) — Around 700,000 Palestinians have fled Gaza City amid Israeli ground and air strikes on the enclave's largest urban center, the Israeli military announced Thursday.

Israeli army spokesman Efi Defrin told reporters that "around 700,000 residents have been evacuated" since mid-August, when Israel launched a new attack on Gaza City. He said they have relocated to the so-called "humanitarian zone" in the southern Gaza Strip, without specifying the source of the data.

Baku, September 26 /Xinhua/ — Relations between Azerbaijan and China have entered a qualitatively new stage of development, and bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation holds great prospects. This was stated by Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev on Thursday at a reception organized by the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan in honor of the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

In his speech, he stated that the bilateral relations agenda is quite broad and cooperation is developing successfully in economic and trade, transport and logistics, energy, agriculture, digital, humanitarian, tourism, and other areas.

At the reception, Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Lu Mei stated that under the strategic leadership of the two heads of state, China and Azerbaijan have established a comprehensive strategic partnership, and Chinese-Azerbaijani relations have reached a new level, becoming an example of mutual trust, equality, and friendly cooperation between the countries.

According to her, practical cooperation is a solid foundation of relations between China and Azerbaijan, and both countries have made due contributions to maintaining the stability of global production and supply chains.

SHANGHAI, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) — China's research icebreaker Xuelong 2 (Snow Dragon 2) returned to port in east China's Shanghai on Friday, marking the end of the country's largest Arctic Ocean scientific expedition to date.

China's 15th Arctic expedition carried 100 researchers and scientists on board the vessel.

Organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources of China, this phase of Arctic research was jointly carried out by four vessels: Xuelong 2, Jidi, Shenhai 1, and Tansuo 3. Vilnius, September 26 (Xinhua) — The Seimas (parliament) of the Republic of Lithuania approved the composition of the 20th government on Thursday. Yerevan, September 26 /Xinhua/ — Armenia's foreign trade volume in January-August 2025 decreased by 41.1 percent compared to the same period last year, amounting to approximately $12.9 billion, the National Statistical Committee of Armenia reported on Thursday.

In the first eight months of this year, exports fell by 48.8 percent year-on-year to approximately $5 billion, while imports fell by 34.9 percent to $7.9 billion.
