Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko congratulated teachers on their professional holiday – Teacher's Day.

"As our President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin noted, teachers have led Russia forward throughout history, serving as a moral beacon for entire generations. Today, there are more than 1 million teachers in our country. It is you, dear teachers, who not only teach but also raise children in accordance with our traditional spiritual and moral values," the Deputy Prime Minister stated.

In Russia, the largest number of teachers are teachers of Russian language and literature, foreign languages, and mathematics.

As part of the national project "Youth and Children," the Government is creating a modern educational infrastructure and providing comfortable learning conditions.

Dmitry Chernyshenko thanked the teachers for their professionalism, care, and dedication to their work.

"Being a teacher means fulfilling a special mission. Thanks to your hard work, our students win international Olympiads and competitions, create their own projects and inventions, and decide to pursue careers in fields that are in demand in our country. Dear teachers! Happy holiday! I wish you good health, prosperity, attentive students, and an inexhaustible supply of energy," he emphasized.

Yuri Trutnev with the winners of the third All-Russian Long-Range Shooting Tournament

The winners of the third All-Russian Long-Range Shooting Tournament, dedicated to the memory of legendary World War II sniper and Hero of the Soviet Union Fyodor Matveyevich Okhlopkov, were announced in Yakutsk. The competition was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev.

"Thanks to the tournament, we commemorated the heroes of the Great Patriotic War together. In terms of results, we set a range record of 2,100 meters. Despite the challenging wind conditions and the fact that the work took place in difficult conditions, the firing range is increasing. This means that the lines where we will not let the enemy approach are moving forward. I once again thank the participants who came from the line of contact; I wish them good luck and peaceful skies for all of us. We will definitely win. To those who did not place among the winners, I want to say that you have taken another step up today: you have learned something from your competitors and become stronger. We will continue to work together. Not only because the special military operation continues, but because Russia must be strong. We need experienced masters of their craft, we need boys and girls who will pick up a .22mm rifle in school and fire their first shot. “We need to defend our homeland,” said Yuri Trutnev.

"The level of the participants is improving. The fact that a target of 2,100 meters was achieved at night demonstrates that specialist training is becoming increasingly effective. The Sulus Center, built at the initiative of Yuri Petrovich Trutnev, is becoming a center of excellence for long-range shooting. Sniper art has always distinguished Yakutia. We have preserved these traditions, and now, thanks to our training grounds, we are developing them, helping our country reach new, higher heights," noted Aisen Nikolaev, Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

The tournament was organized by the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President in the Far Eastern Federal District, the Russian Combat Sniping Federation, the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and the Voin Center for Military Sports Training and Patriotic Education.

At the Sulus Shooting Training Center, over 130 top marksmen from across the country, including participants in the special military operation, competed in daytime and nighttime shooting events. Among those who demonstrated their skills and took to the firing line were active military personnel, law enforcement and special forces personnel, and civilian shooting enthusiasts.

To gain admission to the main stages of the competition, participants had to pass the qualification round and hit a 400 mm diameter target at a distance of 1,000 m with two shots.

Sniper Evgeny Solovyov and spotter Sergey Kirichenko took third place in the "Night" stage. Second place in the "Night" stage went to sniper Gusar and spotter Hunter. First place in the "Night" stage, with a distance of 2,100 meters, went to sniper Fizruk and spotter Ridik. This result set a tournament record. An additional prize—a special certificate for 3 million rubles—was awarded for this achievement.

Sniper Sergei Antonovsky and spotter Alexander Antonovsky took third place in the Day stage. Second place in the Day stage went to sniper Bely and spotter Dobry. First place in the Day stage, with a distance of 2,000 meters, was awarded to sniper Leonid Arkhangelsky and spotter Mikhail Efimov.

Third-place winners in both stages received a cash prize of 500,000 rubles. Silver medalists received a Sokol all-terrain vehicle. The competition's grand prize was a pickup truck.

The panel of judges awarded a number of special prizes. The first special prize—combat knives from the tournament's head judge, Yuri Trutnev—was awarded for courage to Sergey Klyug and Maxim Tokarev, who attempted to hit a target at a distance of 3,200 meters.

Following the two stages of the tournament, special prizes were awarded from the Russian Combat Sniping Federation and weapons and equipment manufacturers.

Summing up the tournament, Yuri Trutnev stated that it could become international: "We will invite a number of countries friendly to Russia to participate in the next tournament, so the participants should be prepared for even greater competition."

JAKARTA, October 5 (Xinhua) — The death toll from the school building collapse in Indonesia's East Java province has risen to 45, a regional rescue official said on Sunday.

According to Nanang Sigit, head of the East Java Search and Rescue Agency, all the victims were taken to Bhayangkara Regional Police Hospital for identification.

"Procedural actions will be carried out after the rubble is cleared," said East Java Police Chief Nanang Awianto.

Part of the multi-story building of the Al-Khozini Islamic Boarding School in Sidoarjo County collapsed on September 29 during unauthorized renovation work, trapping dozens of students under the rubble.

On October 2, rescuers deployed heavy equipment after signs of life ceased to be detected at the collapse site. Previously, they had primarily relied on manual methods to clear the rubble due to concerns that using heavy equipment could cause further collapse.

BUDAPEST, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) — Hungarian Foreign and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto on Sunday criticized the European Union's proposed seven-year budget for 2028-2034, calling it a "Ukraine budget" and warning that European taxpayers' money would be spent on Ukraine instead of strengthening the European economy.

Speaking on public radio station Kossuth Radio, P. Szijjártó noted that EU leaders plan to allocate citizens' money for arming and equipping the Ukrainian army and supporting the Ukrainian state.

“The Hungarian government will not allow Hungarian citizens to pay an even higher price for the war in Ukraine,” he emphasized.

Criticizing the rise of a long-term, war-oriented mentality in Brussels and throughout Western Europe, the Hungarian Foreign Minister declared a "severe war psychosis" among European political leaders. He acknowledged that the European economy faces serious challenges and expressed the view that EU funds should be used to restore competitiveness, not to finance Ukraine.

P. Szijjártó added that Hungary will not support such measures.

In July, the European Commission proposed a €2 trillion (US$2.33 trillion) budget for 2028-2034, which is subject to approval by the European Parliament and the Council before being finalized. It includes €131 billion for defense and space, five times more than in the current budget plan.

Tbilisi, October 5 (Xinhua) — Destabilization efforts in Georgia were orchestrated by forces acting on behalf of foreign intelligence services, President Mikheil Kavelashvili stated at a briefing on Sunday.

M. Kavelashvili assessed the events of October 4 that unfolded near the presidential residence.

According to him, government agencies will take strict measures against calls for the violent overthrow of the government. "Forces organized by foreign intelligence services attempted to destabilize the domestic situation," Kavelashvili noted.

The President of Georgia stated that in recent days, society has witnessed acts of vandalism and provocative actions aimed at undermining public order. In particular, parts of the city's historically valuable infrastructure, popular among local residents and tourists, were destroyed.

M. Kavelashvili emphasized that such actions are unacceptable, and the wise Georgian people will not allow anyone to change the country's government by force. He expressed confidence in the resilience of state institutions and called on the competent authorities to respond strictly to any attempts at destabilization.

On October 4, municipal elections were held in Georgia, during which mass unrest erupted near the presidential residence in the capital, Tbilisi. According to the Ministry of Health, 21 Interior Ministry employees and six demonstrators were hospitalized as a result of the clashes. Georgian Deputy Interior Minister Alexander Darakhvelidze reported on Sunday that Interior Ministry officers had detained several protest leaders.
