KUNMING, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) — Foreign ministers of six Lancang-Mekong River countries on Friday agreed to further deepen cooperation in the next decade to ensure peace and prosperity in the region.

The Chinese Foreign Minister pointed out that China will continue to adhere to the principles of friendship, sincerity, mutual benefit and inclusiveness, bringing more benefits to the Lancang-Mekong countries in the process of Chinese-style modernization.

Wang Yi stressed that the six countries should strengthen high-level strategic coordination, improve the cooperation mechanism in the Lancang-Mekong Basin, and expand cooperation in key areas including agriculture, water resources, environmental protection and transportation and connectivity.

He called for accelerating the introduction of scientific and technological achievements into the real economy, as well as creating and improving mechanisms for interaction in areas such as the digital economy, artificial intelligence and scientific and technological innovation.

The countries should promote cooperation in new energy, including energy storage, electric vehicles and photovoltaic power generation, and strengthen cooperation in areas such as customs, metrology, inspection and quarantine supervision to ensure the stability of regional industrial and supply chains and economic integration, Wang said.

KUNMING, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) — The three sides reached a consensus that Cambodia and Thailand will speed up the restoration of normal ties at a friendly tea party hosted by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi for Cambodian Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Prak Sokhon and Thai Foreign Minister Marit Sangyampong in Anning, southwest China's Yunnan Province, on Thursday, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

MINSK, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) — The contribution of the Chinese people to the victory over fascism is enormous and without this struggle there would have been no common victory, Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Belarus Segodnya Publishing House Dmitry Zhuk told Xinhua in Minsk during the opening of a photo exhibition called "Remembering the Past, Creating the Future" in honor of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The exhibition opened in the Victory Hall of the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War.

It is very important that in 1945 the Soviet and Chinese people fought shoulder to shoulder and won this victory together. For us, this is a very important part of our common history, which we have no right to forget,” D. Zhuk noted.

According to him, when real history is being replaced with fictitious events in order to take away historical memory from Belarusians and Chinese, among others, it is important to fight for its preservation. “It is especially important to preserve the truth in the minds of our young people. Life never returned to these villages and towns, this is a huge tragedy. Today, we are trying to carefully pass on this memory. And when we see examples of such terrible atrocities in other countries, we understand that this is not only the history of Belarusians or the Belarusian people, this is a common human history. KUNMING, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) — The foreign ministers of China, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Myanmar and Thailand held an informal meeting in Anning, southwest China's Yunnan Province, on Friday, reaffirming their willingness to help maintain stability in Myanmar and jointly combat cross-border crime.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, said the situation in Myanmar has generally stabilized since the first quadripartite meeting last year, with post-earthquake reconstruction efforts underway and efforts to safeguard the country's sovereignty, independence and national stability.

Wang Yi called for a "Myanmar-led and Myanmar-focused" approach, supporting the choice of its people and resolving differences through dialogue.

MINSK, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) — The Victory Hall of the Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War hosted the opening of a photo exhibition titled "Remembering the Past, Creating the Future" dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the victory in the World Anti-Fascist War on Friday. More than 250 representatives of the Belarusian government and public organizations attended the ceremony.

The exhibition features about 70 unique historical and contemporary photographs demonstrating the enormous contribution of the Chinese nation to the victory over fascism, the key role of the Chinese Communist Party in the war of resistance, the touching friendship of the peoples of China and the USSR who fought shoulder to shoulder, as well as the striking results of comprehensive pragmatic cooperation between China and Belarus.

Xinhua News Agency Director General Fu Hua said in a video message that during the World Anti-Fascist War, all the world's forces of justice, including China and the Soviet Union, united in hatred of the common enemy, fought valiantly, shed blood and gave their lives to defend world peace and human progress.

“Today, 80 years later, China and Belarus are inheriting historical friendship, jointly upholding international justice, writing a new chapter in the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership, promoting sustainable long-term development of interstate relations and mutually beneficial cooperation,” Fu Hua emphasized.
