GENEVA, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) — China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Chen Xu, called on the international community to accelerate efforts to resolve the Palestinian issue at the 60th session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) on Monday.

The diplomat made this statement during the general debate on the seventh agenda item, dedicated to the human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories.

Chen Xu stated that the current round of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has dragged on for two years, leading to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe. Despite this, Israel continues to advance its plan to take control of Gaza, accelerates its gradual seizure of territory in the West Bank, and carries out airstrikes against Hamas members participating in peace talks in Qatar, the Permanent Representative noted.

These actions, he said, constitute gross violations of international law, seriously infringe on the right to existence and development of Palestinians and residents of neighboring countries, and directly undermine stability in the Middle East.

Chen Xu called on the international community to attach great importance to the Palestinian issue, intensify efforts to resolve it, achieve a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza, intensify the implementation of the “two states for two peoples” plan, and safeguard peace and stability in the region.

Beijing, September 30 (Xinhua) — On September 27, the Tomsk Philharmonic's Phaeton String Quartet performed at the Majiapu Cultural Center's concert hall. The concert became a true journey across continents and eras for a Chinese audience, the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing reported on its public account on the Chinese social network WeChat.

Renowned for their unique approach to classical music, the Phaeton Quartet masterfully transforms complex academic works into captivating stories full of emotion and meaning. Their performances always offer an immersive musical experience, profound interpretation, and a genuine passion that the artists convey to every audience member.

The concert program included immortal works by Russian composers, whose music constitutes the golden fund of world classics.

The audience also received a surprise. The quartet's virtuosos performed Chinese melodies, presented in exquisite modern arrangements by Russian composers. This creative experiment demonstrated not only the musicians' technical mastery but also their ability to find subtle connections between different cultures.

The audience was absolutely delighted. A thunderous ovation reverberated under the concert hall's vaults, confirming the success of this unique program. With their performance, the Siberian quartet "Phaeton" once again proved that true music knows no bounds.

As a reminder, the Phaeton String Quartet was founded in 2011 in Novosibirsk. The young musicians, then still students, aspired to high art and felt an irresistible attraction to the quartet genre. In the first years after the ensemble's founding, the best students, graduates, and faculty of the Novosibirsk Conservatory performed with the quartet. Since 2020, Phaeton has become part of the Tomsk Philharmonic.

SHIJIAZHUANG, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) — The 20th China International Wuqiao Circus Festival (CWICF) is being held from September 28 to October 3 in Wuqiao County, Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, north China. Acrobats from 19 countries and regions are competing at the festival, with Russia boasting the largest number of foreign acrobats.

Great Moscow Circus acrobat Anastasia Ovcharenko is participating in this festival for the first time. "I'm very excited to come to China for the competition. This is one of the largest acrobatic festivals in the world and an international event of great significance."

In preparation for this festival, Wuqiao County has accelerated infrastructure construction and made every effort to provide good conditions for competition for Chinese and foreign guests.

"The infrastructure here is very good, there are also special training areas, and overall it's very convenient," said A. Ovcharenko, adding that her team has made a huge effort to participate in this festival and hopes to achieve good results.

As a reminder, this year's CWICF program includes 28 competition numbers, and the awards package consists of 3 gold, 5 silver, and 7 bronze prizes.

For 36-year-old Russian acrobat Viktor Roshchin, participating in the festival is about more than just winning the competition. "There's no doubt that every acrobat wants to win an award, but first and foremost, we hope to delight the audience, have a good time with them, and convey our enthusiasm."

The young man was deeply impressed by the performance of local acrobats from Wuqiao County. "Chinese acrobatics is very interesting, and Chinese actors can perform many tricks we didn't expect," he said.

Wuqiao County is considered the cradle of Chinese acrobatics. The history of this county's acrobatic style began during the Han Dynasty (202 BC – 220 AD). In 2006, Wuqiao acrobatics was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage.

The festival has been held every two years since 1987. Currently, along with the international circus festivals in Monte Carlo and Paris, it is considered one of the most prestigious competitions in the field of circus arts, as well as the oldest event of its kind in China.

The closing ceremony of the festival will take place on October 3, and thematic events dedicated to the festival will continue until October 8. -0-

General view of the installation

Mikhail Zhavoronkov, PhD, Associate Professor of the Department of Construction Materials Technology and Metrology (TSMM) at SPbGASU, completed the research project "Development and Validation of a Direct Test Method for the Adhesion Strength of Synthetic Macrofibers to a Matrix" as part of a grant competition for research projects by SPbGASU academic staff in 2025.

Compared to traditional concrete and reinforced concrete, fiber-reinforced concrete boasts higher flexural tensile strength, improved crack resistance, and impact resistance. However, the use of this building material is limited by inadequate testing methods. This problem is compounded by the ever-expanding range of manufactured fibers.

Regulatory documents governing the design methods of fiber-reinforced concrete structures often include the fiber-matrix adhesion strength of fiber-reinforced concrete. In some cases, it is assumed that this characteristic can be determined from a specialized reference book. Unfortunately, such reference books are not comprehensive or comprehensive.

Specifically for this study, the Department of Concrete Structural Mechanics and Mathematics developed a setup for determining the fiber-matrix adhesion strength using a direct method. This setup consists of a loading device and a system of sensors that monitor displacements and the applied load. During testing, individual fibers are extracted from concrete specimens, after which diagrams are plotted showing the dependence of fiber displacements on the applied forces. The resulting diagrams are used to calculate the fiber-matrix adhesion strength. Furthermore, the dependence of fiber-matrix adhesion strength on the matrix composition and the depth of embedment was determined.

The results of these tests contribute to the accumulation of statistical and reference data that can be used in the design of fiber-reinforced concrete structures and provide a more complete understanding of the behavior of fiber-reinforced concrete under load. Furthermore, the developed methodology and setup can be used for further studies of the adhesion strength of other fiber matrices and can also be applied in laboratory work in relevant disciplines.

Traffic has reopened on the renovated Mosfilmovskaya Street in the capital. Thanks to the reconstruction of the street and road network, access to social facilities and housing has been opened, and drivers can now choose alternative routes. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction. Vladimir Efimov.

"The extension of Mosfilmovskaya Street is a significant project for the Western Administrative District of the capital and its residents. The work took approximately two years. Four traffic lanes were created here, with access to the Southern Rokada—Aminyevskoye Highway and Lobachevsky Street. The section of Mosfilmovskaya Street runs over two new bridges, totaling 465 meters in length, offering picturesque views of the landscape reserve. In total, the project involved the construction and reconstruction of 6.4 kilometers of roads, the installation of 93.4 kilometers of utility lines, and the construction of a wastewater treatment plant," noted Vladimir Efimov.

Thirteen bridge piers were erected. Retaining walls with a total length of 225 meters were built on the approaches. The total area of the bridge structures is 85,700 square meters. One-meter-wide safety strips were installed along the edges of the roadway.

"To implement the project, we envisioned a unified stylistic solution suitable for residential development, creating a unique architectural and urban design. A meter-high railing with a solid infill of monolithic polycarbonate was erected on both sides of the bridge structure. Decorative screens made of flat metal cassettes with a bio-pattern and perforations were installed on the superstructure, concealing utility lines. Lighting masts with additional architectural lighting made of integrated LED strips were also installed," added the head of the Moscow Department of Construction, Transport and Engineering Infrastructure.

Vasily Desyatkov.

The extension of Mosfilmovskaya Street will improve transport accessibility for residents of the Ochakovo-Matveyevskoye and Ramenki districts, home to nearly 300,000 people, and will also reduce traffic congestion on General Dorokhov Avenue, Michurinsky Avenue, Aminyevskoye Highway, and Matveyevskaya Street.

Earlier, Sergei Sobyanin opened traffic on the new street and road network inRamenki district.
