Vladivostok, September 30 (Xinhua) — A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck off the eastern coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula on Tuesday, according to a Telegram post by the Kamchatka branch of the Federal Research Center of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The tremors were recorded at 10:07 a.m. local time, 98 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the administrative center of Kamchatka Krai. The earthquake originated at a depth of 48.1 km.

GENEVA, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) — China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Chen Xu, called on the international community to accelerate efforts to resolve the Palestinian issue at the 60th session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) on Monday.

SHIJIAZHUANG, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) — The 20th China International Wuqiao Circus Festival (CWICF) is being held from September 28 to October 3 in Wuqiao County, Cangzhou City, Hebei Province, north China. Acrobats from 19 countries and regions are competing at the festival, with Russia boasting the largest number of foreign acrobats.

Great Moscow Circus acrobat Anastasia Ovcharenko is participating in this festival for the first time. "I'm very excited to come to China for the competition. This is one of the largest acrobatic festivals in the world and an international event of great significance."

In preparation for this festival, Wuqiao County has accelerated infrastructure construction and made every effort to provide good conditions for competition for Chinese and foreign guests.

BEIJING, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) — China's services trade maintained steady growth in the first eight months of this year, with total imports and exports reaching nearly 5.25 trillion yuan (about 739 billion U.S. dollars), up 7.4 percent year on year, the Ministry of Commerce said Tuesday.

Specifically, service exports grew by 14.7 percent to 2.3 trillion yuan, while imports increased by 2.3 percent to 2.95 trillion yuan, according to the ministry. The services trade deficit narrowed by 228 billion yuan compared to the same period last year.

ISLAMABAD, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) — At least six people were killed and 19 others wounded in a suicide attack on a militant headquarters in southwestern Pakistan's Balochistan province on Tuesday, rescue and security officials said.

The attack took place in Quetta, the provincial capital, when terrorists rammed a car packed with explosives into the main gate of the Frontier Corps headquarters, security sources told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

They added that the attackers' accomplices managed to enter the area after the explosion, and a shootout was currently underway.

Muhammad Zeeshan, operations manager of the Quetta-based NGO Edhi Foundation, told Xinhua that a bus and a rickshaw were passing the site when the blast occurred, and most of the injured were passengers in those vehicles.

The injured were taken to the Civil Hospital in Quetta, with several remaining in critical condition, he added.
