JAKARTA, October 5 (Xinhua) — The death toll from the school building collapse in Indonesia's East Java province has risen to 45, a regional rescue official said on Sunday.

FUZHOU, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) — Five people were confirmed dead on Sunday after entering an abandoned mine in Yuxi County, east China's Fujian Province, local authorities said.

At approximately 9:50 a.m. Sunday, the county fire and rescue service received a report that five people had entered a mine in Banmian Township and had lost contact with them. Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the scene to conduct search and rescue operations.

By 1:20 PM, all five were found and taken to the hospital for medical attention. By 3:00 PM, despite medical efforts, all were pronounced dead.

BUDAPEST, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) — Hungarian Foreign and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto on Sunday criticized the European Union's proposed seven-year budget for 2028-2034, calling it a "Ukraine budget" and warning that European taxpayers' money would be spent on Ukraine instead of strengthening the European economy.

Speaking on public radio station Kossuth Radio, P. Szijjártó noted that EU leaders plan to allocate citizens' money for arming and equipping the Ukrainian army and supporting the Ukrainian state.

Beijing, October 5 (Xinhua) — Interregional passenger traffic in China reached a record high of approximately 1.24 billion trips during the first half of the eight-day National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival holidays, demonstrating robust activity in the Chinese travel sector, the Ministry of Transport reported Sunday.

According to the department, interregional passenger traffic reached 301.29 million trips on October 4, a 6.1 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Average daily passenger traffic during the first half of the school holidays exceeded 310 million trips.

The number of passenger journeys by rail increased year-on-year by 4.5 percent to 18.33 million trips, by river transport by 5.6 percent to 1.91 million trips, and by air transport by 4.1 percent to 2.32 million trips.

Tbilisi, October 5 (Xinhua) — Destabilization efforts in Georgia were orchestrated by forces acting on behalf of foreign intelligence services, President Mikheil Kavelashvili stated at a briefing on Sunday.

Cairo, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) — Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar on Sunday issued a joint statement welcoming steps by the Palestinian Hamas movement towards the Gaza ceasefire plan put forward by US President Donald Trump.

The CIIE, first held in 2018, opened a new chapter in the history of global trade. Since then, the expo has consistently expanded its scope and improved its effectiveness.

As the world's first national-level import-focused expo, the CIIE has showcased nearly 3,000 new products, technologies and services over the past seven years, with the transaction volume of IOUs for goods and services exceeding US$500 billion during the year.

BEIJING, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) — In the first seven months of 2025, trade turnover between East China's Fujian Province and member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) reached 51.64 billion yuan (about 7.27 billion U.S. dollars). Private enterprises play a leading role in the development of Fujian Province's foreign trade sector.
